For C25K graduates who are taking the next step!

W10R1 this morning, 3x15min runs with minute walks in between. I wasn't at all sure I was going to finish but I did, checked MapMyRun & saw I'd done 6.3K.

Hadn't realised I could run that far!

That's brill your gonna nail that 10k Grin it's nice when you can "chat" like runner (get me Grin) alas I work with a bunch of super fits so I tend to keep quiet, especially as my mgr is doing some mega Tri's this spring/summer. But our outdoor pool opens in April which I love as I squeeze in a swim on my lunch break Smile.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 18/03/2017 16:34

Swimming in your lunch break sounds lovely.

Done the 11k along another chunk of the Thames, 1hr24 and knocked 30secs off my 10K time so I'm happy! Are you still feeling better, Bike?

SkiBike007 · 18/03/2017 19:41

Sounds like a great 11k empress well done.
I did another short run Friday eve, but we are now skiing this week Grin so lots exercise but no running this week.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 18/03/2017 20:03

Thanks Bike. Have a good time!

KanyesVest · 19/03/2017 22:01

Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't been around, I have been having some mojo issues and wasn't managing to achieve anything. But, I have just done 6.5k and it wasn't as brutal as I expected! I did it in 17/15/15 so it was fairly slow, but I'll work on that.

It looks like you're all doing really well. Empress you're doing great distances! You'll be storming your time at the race Smile

Hope you're having fun, Ski. I love the idea of skiing but I just fall down too much for it to be enjoyable Blush

Short I use www.plotaroute.com to work out new run distances and it seems to tally with runkeeper, if that helps?

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 20/03/2017 05:48

Hello Kanye!

6.5k is great, good on you! Worry about the speed later. Doesn't it feel good just to have done it? Grin

KanyesVest · 20/03/2017 22:46

Thanks Empress! I'm feeling much better than I expected after it too. We have high wind and snow warnings Hmmso I did a youtube barre ballet thing. Sweet Jesus my core is in tatters...

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/03/2017 07:55

Sunny here, but the wind's freezing. I came out in my running stuff but not really feeling it today.

God knows what state my core's in!

shortaris1 · 21/03/2017 08:05

Emoress I need to add some core work in. I did a Joe Wicked cardio and core the other day which was good and I am contemplating 6 week 6 pack on You Tube.

Shorter run on the plan last night building up to 2 x30 mins by the weekend. Nearly finished 10k programme then!

Thanks Kanye I'm using run keeper a bit now, which is fine.

Happy skiing Ski

KanyesVest · 23/03/2017 22:27

Another 6.5km tonight. Felt pretty good. I think going back through the programme is a good idea. I've signed up for a 10k on the first Monday in June!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/03/2017 22:36

Brilliant Kanye, good luck! Are you running for a charity?

KanyesVest · 23/03/2017 22:54

No, I'm not Blush to be honest, I've done so many charity things over the years (I've been working with charities for nearly 15 years now) that I can't ask anyone to sponsor me ever again!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 24/03/2017 06:22

Grin I see what you mean, almost everyone I know is sponsoring me for the run - especially since they all know it's personal - but I can imagine the WTF looks I'd get if I requested more cash two months later.

SkiBike007 · 24/03/2017 13:33

Great running kanye I'm actually missing a run but done plenty of ski runs Grin my legs huurrttt! But running definitely helped my fitness this week. It's SO fab to see my young DDs loving it too Smile, I didn't hit my 10k goal before the hols due to that horrid virus so need to find another goal. There is a local 10k breast cancer run in July I could do so I may go for that, but I also want to get more cycling in now the days are lighter.

shortaris1 · 24/03/2017 21:46

I'm sat in with a sparkling water on a Friday night as I'm doing my first park run tomorrow.

Really looking forward to it.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 24/03/2017 21:51

Me too Shortaris!

(Well, not the sparkling water and not exactly my first. My first was the utter disaster that pushed me to start C25K.)

But I'm doing my first proper Parkrun tomorrow. Good luck!

shortaris1 · 25/03/2017 11:30

Good luck Empress
I did it! Lordy I was slow 40:22. So warm. I really need to get t-shirts now as I was boiling but it was snowing here on Tuesday so who knows?

Everyone was lovely though and I'll definitely do it again.

KanyesVest · 25/03/2017 11:52

Great work on the park runs! I need to get back to mine, but it's a bit dispiriting as it seems to be a very fast cohort (and I'm exceedingly slow) and I've brought up the rear far too many times to keep me motivated. Serious, a 157 year old man was faster than me once Hmm

Anyway, unexpected rest day yesterday (unless throwing a tantrum because dh's birthday cake decorating was a chaotic mess counts) and a short (3k) this morning before we head off for a family day.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/03/2017 12:55

I was slow too Shortaris, 37:01 - o can do it nearly 5 mins faster than that!

But not last. Everyone was lovely on mine too and I'm going to keep going back as well, if only to get used to running in a group.

Silvertap · 26/03/2017 07:19

Hi everyone, can I join please?

I started the c25k in January - only got to about week 6 as I work and have young kids yada yada yada. Knowing what I'm like I signed up in Jan for a 5k in march and a 10K on Easter Monday. I ran the 5k in 31:333 and was quite proud of myself I did it without stopping.

I then stepped up to doing the zen labs bridge to 10K and managed to do the week 10 day run yesterday. I'm AMAZED at myself that I can run for 45 mins! Honestly that is such a breakthrough.

I have some questions - I normally do two runs in a row due to childcare etc. Is that bad? Should I be having a rest day?

I'd like to do one exercise class too to help with toning. I should I do LBT or Body Balance?

Not sure if I'll get out for a run today, my legs are stiff after yesterday's effort!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 26/03/2017 07:37

Hi Silvertap, welcome and congrats on the 45 mins!

I don't know about classes but I tend to get on better if I have rest days between runs.

SkiBike007 · 26/03/2017 10:16

Great park runs alas our nearest is 10miles away. I got a great cycle in early this morning the post altitude ski lungs n legs flew up the hillGrin felt fab. No Mother's Day cards today though as everyone forgot as we were on hols, but the hour cycling to myself this morning was lovely. Will go for a run tom see how the legs are for that too.

shortaris1 · 27/03/2017 07:49

Welcome Silvertap I do body combat alongside my running but really just because I enjoy it and its nice and sweaty. I try to get rest days in but its not always possible to time it that way!

KanyesVest · 27/03/2017 21:31

Way hey, I just did a 5k pb! I got a tempo run prompt on run keeper so I did it and it was great- 5 min steady, 5 min fast x 3. I was just short of 5k when I was done with it, so I got to that before I walked for a little rest, then finished the 1.5k home. Feeling very good for it Smile

Silvertap · 27/03/2017 22:06

Thanks for the welcomes. Skipped Sunday as had a bottle of prosecco with lunch but did 5.2 miles tonight in 54 mins. I'm trying to include hills (well, I in Cambs so more gentle incline than hill!) as I find them really hard!
