For C25K graduates who are taking the next step!

W10R1 this morning, 3x15min runs with minute walks in between. I wasn't at all sure I was going to finish but I did, checked MapMyRun & saw I'd done 6.3K.

Hadn't realised I could run that far!

Hi Silver I haven't had much hill practice yet, I'm a bit scared!

Ran for a whole 60 mins the other night. Very chuffed!

Finishing work early tomorrow so going to do another 60 mins then and park run Saturday and another 60 on Sunday.

Got family up next week so may need to scale it back a bit. Where are you all going after this thread?! Half training?!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 31/03/2017 08:47

Half training? ShockShockShock

I think once I've got the big one over I'll stick with running 5ks & the odd 10. I'm going to Parkrun again this weekend.

Everyone's doing brilliantly! And yes, I find hills hard too, Silver. I normally run through flat London and the couple of times I've done hilly runs it's turned into walking up the steep bits & running the downhill / flat bits.

SkiBike007 · 31/03/2017 15:59

My face is same as empress Shock Shock I doubt I'll move upto half Smile shortaris I enjoy the short runs. My sil is marathon training at the moment and it's massive time commitment.
I squeezed in a 5k lunchtime run yesterday at work, it was hot and I wasn't quite sure where to run so it was an experience, luckly we have showers at work. I did do some really fast stints though which must be post-ski altitude lungs Grin

Silvertap · 31/03/2017 21:00

I've thought about a half marathon. In the deep dark depths of my mind there's the thought of a marathon for my 40th (4 more years)

I did week 11 run 1 tonight and ran 9.8km in the 1 hour 4 mins. I'm absolutely buzzing. In January I could run for about two minutes - I'm amazed I've had the willpower to do this.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 31/03/2017 21:28

I know what you mean, Silver, I look back at my early posts on the C25K thread & feel amazed at how far I've come! 9.8k - you're practically there!

Thinking about it, I spend the first k worrying about whether I can actually run at all & normally get into my stride around the third, then I'm chugging along happily by the fifth and when my app tells me I've hit ten I usually feel I could go further. So maybe. One day.

Sounds like you had a good holiday, Ski Grin

shortaris1 · 02/04/2017 10:59

Sorry if I scared you Grin. I was just wondering!

I'm so slow. Did a frustrating 60 mins there. My app stopped, Run keeper wouldn't play and my headphones kept popping out. I have slightly odd ears and ive tried lots of things but going to have to resort to big over the head ones!

Did park run yesterday but dropped my bloody barcode so no idea of time.

Sure I'll get a run without a mishap soon!

Silvertap · 03/04/2017 12:46

Empress I too spend the first few k thinking I can't possibly do this then by the end could happily chug along for a bit longer!

I did it last night - 10.4k in 1hr 6 mins. Really chuffed with myself. There's a few more hills in my race but I did feel there was more in my legs by the end.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 03/04/2017 13:23

1hr6? That's bloody brilliant Silver, congrats! My record is 1hr17, hoping I can get it down a bit further.

Shortaris Grin I need to get some overear headphones too I think. At least you got to Parkrun, that's more than I did! Nice 10k through local parks yesterday, but it was slowed down a bit by crossing roads & chatting with a dog who dropped his ball at my feet for throwing. The owner was mortified, bless her, but I thought it was lovely!

I did an abs class in the gym this morning. 25 minutes and it left me feeling that an hour's run is easy in comparison...

chopchopchop · 04/04/2017 13:17

Hello everyone, world's slowest runner here...

I've done couch to 5k with a group since Christmas and am now just running on my own, but I haven't even done a Park run yet because I think it would take me at least 45 min (and DH does it in 28 so this would be beyond embarrassing). I'm trying to run either faster or longer in each run - today I did 4.6k in 40 min - but it's slow progress.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 04/04/2017 15:42

Hello Chop!

My first Parkrun was a total bloody disaster & I didn't make it through the first lap. I'm only doing them now I feel confident enough to, about 6 months later.

You're out doing it, that's the important thing - for all of us. Welcome to the thread.

SkiBike007 · 04/04/2017 18:11

Hi chop your not on the couch but doing it so lapping everyone who is still in the couch Smile that's what I told myself today as in plodded round a 5k and had to walk the hilly bits.... but I sprinted the downhill bits Grin

chopchopchop · 04/04/2017 18:20

Thank you for the welcome.

I'm looking at the bridge to 10k apps, as I'm fairly sure I could do 10k but not sure how long it would take! Stamina definitely over speed with me, I'm like some little plodding pit pony.

Silvertap · 04/04/2017 19:18

Hi chop chop. I'm doing the zen labs bridge to 10K one and it's been quite good.

Managed 10.2k in 1hr 1 minute today - I'm not convinced the app is measuring correctly as I literally cannot believe I'm doing this!!

littlemissM92 · 05/04/2017 07:15

I'm sat on the couch in my running stuff finding the willpower to go!! Know it will make me feel better will update u all shortly well done everyone silver that's a fantastic time !

Silvertap · 05/04/2017 10:07

How did you get on little miss?

littlemissM92 · 05/04/2017 10:42

I did a slow 5k!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 05/04/2017 10:53

Well done miss!

Silvertap · 05/04/2017 12:05

Well done miss

SkiBike007 · 05/04/2017 17:17

Well done little miss those runs are the hardest but the next one will be easier Smile
I've had mixed week with swim Monday, 5k run tues and today was 20m on my bike as I did my first cycle commute of the year to work Smile and I felt strong, which was fab after a winter mostly off saddle. The running has really helped my stamina. Tom will be rest day, just a walk as my legs are tired now. My goal is one commute a week to work on the bike.

littlemissM92 · 05/04/2017 20:01

Ski that sounds such a good mixture

chopchopchop · 06/04/2017 12:05

Well I went for shorter and faster, so did 3.2km in 25 minutes, which is quicker than I've ever managed before.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 06/04/2017 12:27

Nice one, Chop!

SkiBike007 · 06/04/2017 21:16

Hope it made you feel good chop.
I had a rest day ..aka at my desk most of the day. Tomorrow is ice skating! Not sure how much I'll be able to whizz around as youngest DD requires more support Grin hopefully I'll still be in one piece on Sat and get a run in again.

shortaris1 · 06/04/2017 21:31

Well done chop and littlemiss

And lots of good stuff there ski

I had a slow and laboured 50 minute walk/run tonight. The next one will be better.

Silvertap · 08/04/2017 06:41

So I've got my 10K race on Easter Monday. What training would you do in the next 9 days? I'm on week 12 of the bridge to 10K and seem to be able to do the 10K in the time.

I've been running every other day so far but I'm not sure that's a bit much just before the race
