For C25K graduates who are taking the next step!

W10R1 this morning, 3x15min runs with minute walks in between. I wasn't at all sure I was going to finish but I did, checked MapMyRun & saw I'd done 6.3K.

Hadn't realised I could run that far!

No running last 4 days yet another flipping cold/throat virus Sad taken hold. I went to 3different swimming pools in half term with the kids that's prob what did it and frustrating as i barely swam a stroke looking after my youngest. Rest n work this week hopefully I'll find some energy again by Friday.

shortaris1 · 21/02/2017 07:52

Ah yuck Ski that's nasty. Take it easy and hopefully you'll get out at the weekend.

Did my first 10k training last night and did 4 10 minute runs with 1 minute walks in between. Really enjoyed it and will running again tomorrow and on Saturday hopefully.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/02/2017 16:21

How are you feeling, Bike? BrewFlowers

Sounds like it's going well, Shortaris!

Just been out for a 5k. It was quite slow but after 2 weeks off I'm not too fussed, I'll work back up.

The highlight was a little girl looking at my bright blue trainers and shouting "I LIKE YOUR SHOES!!" Grin

SkiBike007 · 25/02/2017 22:01

Not been out for week fighting off this flipping virus that's been lingering for weeks now - can't wait for it to go Angry
Well done on your 5k empress it's hard getting back out when you have had a break, but you know you can do it just needs bit time Smile and bright blue shoes always help.
I'm hopeful I'll get back out soon!! How's it going shortaris?

KanyesVest · 25/02/2017 22:02

Ski, hope you're on the mend soon.

I had a bad week for any sort of motivation, but got out for a run today and very pleased I got just over 4k without a niggle in my calf so I've decided I'm over this injury! Hopefully I'll do 6k tomorrow.

Empress, sounds like you have some funky kids in your locale Wink

shortaris1 · 26/02/2017 21:13

Well done Empress on getting back out .

I'm good Ski did an extremely blustery week 9 run 3 yesterday! Crossing the bridges was fun in that wind!

KanyesVest · 26/02/2017 22:30

Very blustery here, too aris. Tonight was pretty miserable...it started raining about 100m from the front door and it was cold. I trudged very slowly through 6.5km. 4-5km was very hard going, I walked a couple of stretches. It was a combination of the horrible weather and leaden legs. But at least it's done!

SkiBike007 · 27/02/2017 18:50

Well done on your running kanyes and shortaris. I'm still not running due to this virus another mum said it's been nicknamed "zombie flu" as it's doing the rounds where I live. I just feel zonked Sad hopefully my energy and running legs will rtn soon!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 28/02/2017 22:26

Half my office had that, Ski, it sounds like one you just have to wait out. Hope you feel better soon Flowers Brew.

Kanye, this was a very funky kid with a proper appreciation of great trainers! That's brilliant that you made the 6.5k but don't push yourself too hard. Not yet anyway.

Thanks Shortaris, sounds like you're doing great! Always helps if the wind's blowing in the right direction...

I did another 5K this morning and I'm hoping to make another 10 at the weekend. If it's not raining.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 02/03/2017 08:22

Got to shout about this somewhere....

I've just been for a short run round the park before work, going as fast as I could, & did a k in 5:47.

Looks like the speed training is working GrinGrinGrin

KanyesVest · 02/03/2017 17:25

Great work Empress!!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 02/03/2017 17:53

Thanks Kanye!

KanyesVest · 02/03/2017 21:48

Rotten weather and a horrible 5k.

Empress how are you doing your speed training? I'm trying to figure out if I should do some sprint sessions or go back to the bridge to 10k for a bit to try to get my mojo back.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 02/03/2017 22:08

But you finished, that's commitment!

I've been doing it on a treadmill a couple of times a week, setting the pace to 6 mins per k & running 1k at that speed. And it has just been 1k, so far.

Doing it round the park near work was far nicer this morning though, so I think I might change it to running 1k there as fast as I can.

I had a 10K route planned for the weekend but apparently it's going to be bucketing for most of it, so have to see.

Whoop woo I just did a 5k after2wks out of action with virus. The first 3k was fast then I bonked abit and had to do last 1k uphill but was still 33mins. SO pleased to have got back out again Grin and not lost too much fitness. Strava reckons I did my fastest 1mile and 2mile, that must be the new springy birthday trainers Grin

Well done on your sprint empress that's great the training is paying off.

At least you did it kanye you have to have a crap run to whoop the good one that you will have next time Smile

littlemissM92 · 03/03/2017 18:20

Hope it's ok to join :)

Recently getting back into running and have my first 10k at the end of this month and another at end of next month.

Was hoping for the weight to start dropping off through running like it usually does but hasn't yet .. will keep plodding on!

So nice that it's getting lighter now too for it

SkiBike007 · 03/03/2017 20:08

Welcome little miss sounds like you are doing really well hitting 10k already Smile that was my goal by mid March but flipping viruses keep knocking me off my stride since Nov grrrr but I keep plodding onSmile as I love the post-run buzz Grin I actually like running in the cold as dark or early frosty mornings I'm not sure I'll cope in warm sunshine!!

littlemissM92 · 03/03/2017 20:10

Skibike007 I know what you mean I like to go when the sun is just coming up and there's no one around and no one to see me looking like an absolute tomato!

SkiBike007 · 03/03/2017 20:21

Oh yes tonight it was 9c and I was red n dripping by the end...not a pretty sight Smile

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 03/03/2017 20:33

Woooo Bike well done!!!

Welcome to the thread, miss! I like early morning runs too, there's something about being out as the sun's coming up.

shortaris1 · 06/03/2017 07:50

Well done all on your runs.

I did 15 mins x3 yesterday. Great session!

littlemissM92 · 06/03/2017 08:18

6.5k 3 times last week going to up one of them to 7 or 7.5 this week xx

SkiBike007 · 06/03/2017 15:08

That's great shortaris 45min run is great session. I think it's fab how far we have all come Smile
littlemiss that's impressive getting in 3 longer runs my joints couldn't take past 5k 3x a week so I dropped it to twice a week at 7-8k level before this flipping virus to its nasty hold. Your nail that 10k at the end of the month.

I had planned to run this morning as it's my only day off with a manic work week ahead but I had the flipping sore throat againSad so did The Shred DVD and had a long walk. I'll have racked up 10k walking by the time I finish the school run today Smile

littlemissM92 · 06/03/2017 15:37

Thank you I hope your right !

SkiBike007 · 06/03/2017 16:05

Ooh I'm upto 11k on my phone step counter Grin
littlemiss I was upping half km a week but then on one run I just thought I'd carry on as I felt good &strong and went from 7k to 8.5k Smile and if I hadn't been in front of my house I reckon I could have carried on. alas I haven't had a "good" run like that in a month due to this virus but your stamina must be good to be doing 19-20k in a week Smile
