Well done 0ellenbrody0!

You'll be fine emummy! I'm always ridiculously nervous before any race!

Run this morning to keep my friend company on her hm training, 50mins non stop we actually did a bit more and covered 5.35 miles, plus my parkrun yesterday 491.4

emummy · 31/07/2016 14:45

Did it! And pb of 1:38, very pleased! Was a lovely route, friendly marshals. Just about 200 runners, lots of club runners who looked a bit serious warming up! A good day, back home & off for a shower then dog walking time

emummy · 31/07/2016 14:46

Oops 501.4

lastqueenofscotland · 01/08/2016 09:03

Well done emummy, great time! 6.2 to finish off the month from me

lastqueenofscotland · 01/08/2016 19:54

And 6.5 today to start August off
6.5

parques · 01/08/2016 22:46

Keep forgetting to post: 2.97 from me today.

emummy · 02/08/2016 10:22

Great run this morning through woods. Took a path I rarely go on, it was like a stream! Got thoroughly soaked and muddy, was hit in the face twice with wet branches, much fun! Decided just to take it easy today, Dh going away again this afternoon, to the Netherlands, till Friday night, so will do a speed session on Saturday and a long run on Sunday, should then be back on track with the hm training.

18.87, counting me & parques

lastqueenofscotland · 02/08/2016 23:20

5.6 run at 8 min mile pace, felt pretty tough but feel better for going (once I'd got back and eaten the whole fridge) 24.47

KeyserSophie · 03/08/2016 08:04

Right, I'm back. Got a paltry 18 for back end of the month to add to July to make 528.6

Yet to score in August. I am dreading my first run but I need to crack on as first race of the season is a month today. Still cant decide whether to look for a legaue team or not. The good thing about it is it gives you a bit more incentive to turn up to races when you CBA, but the bad side is that it makes you do races you probably shouldnt.

stilllearnin · 03/08/2016 15:19

Hello I have been a bit quiet because I have properly knackered my feet! I have split my big toenail about 1cm above the root and now it is nearly all the way across! I have taped it up so I don't catch it. I cannot bring myself to trim it down to the split. I am going to a podiatrist tomorrow - think it's a gonner!!

cinnamongreyhound · 04/08/2016 07:54

Hope everyone who's suffering is feeling better soon. Very windy here today but makes a nice change to heat! 26C predicted for Sunday so will be a warm 10k in Norwich!!
Lovely run with two lovely ladies and the dogs this morning. After my two falls two Saturday's running I tripped over, managed to save myself but still repulled the muscles I hurt Saturday Sad 28.47

OP posts:
stilllearnin · 04/08/2016 16:53

Hello - here is me without toenail (mostly). But I can run again apparently. The podiatrist had great tales of working on marathons.

0ellenbrody0 · 04/08/2016 18:12

That sounds grim stilllearnin hope it's not too painful. cinnamon are you able to run still?
Away for a few days next week, just debating whether to pack running gear???
2x runs to add: 7.45
35.92

lastqueenofscotland · 04/08/2016 20:10

6.5 plod home from work. very tight calf so hoping my foam rolling will have helped 42.42

stilllearnin · 05/08/2016 09:06

ellen it's actually better now it's off!! AND I have some foam toe thingy's for running with so I will be back with some miles to add. I have a weekend away with my children now (who I don't see from one week to the next as it has actually all got worse). But I am looking forward to getting back on it soon.

emummy · 06/08/2016 08:40

Oh stillearnin, so sorry the family situation is worse. Hope you are able to get back to running and fingers crossed things improve for you soon.

Good interval session this morning, so nice to be able to run now dh is back. Beautiful sunny morning in the forest, pleased with speed & effort.

48.42

lastqueenofscotland · 06/08/2016 10:17

3.1 to add from parkrun, 2 mins slower than the speedy 5k I ran on Tuesday Hmm
51.52

0ellenbrody0 · 06/08/2016 17:42

3.1 from Parkrun. Not my fastest, but quite hot!
54.62

emummy · 07/08/2016 10:08

Nice easy run in beautiful sunshine, nice breeze to keep me cool enough.

55.62

lastqueenofscotland · 07/08/2016 11:15

11 to add. Have a marathon on the 18th sept.
Planning on 18, 20, 20 in the next three Sunday's, does that sound ok?
66.62

cinnamongreyhound · 07/08/2016 21:51

Was better by my race Friday, thankfully 0ellenbrody0. Definitely take your trainers!!!!

Sorry things are getting worse stilllearnin, hope they improve soon.

Never done a marathon lastqueenofscotland so can't help!! Though I guess it's kind of half what would be recommended for a hm but I personally like to know I can do the distance.

Run with my neighbour Thursday evening, wibbly wobbly log jog (very undulating, narrow bike tracks through the forest with a couple of bomb holes chucked in for luck) and my worst 10k for years in Norwich today. 81.12

OP posts:
KeyserSophie · 08/08/2016 04:59

last queen I'd say that's fine. I've never run more than 20 miles in training for any of my marathons/ 50ks (or even 70ks). It sounds odd, but you really do need to strike the balance between overtraining and preparation. I'd maybe then do a 10 on 3rd and then dial it right back with a sharp taper for 2 weeks.

stilllearnin Sorry about the kids. That must be tough, and I hope the weekend went well

Adding 10 from 3 runs. My hip is still really bad. Considering taking a 2 week break and just ergoing and spinning to keep my fitness up

76.62

lastqueenofscotland · 08/08/2016 07:29

keyser I know some people who have to mentally get to 21/22 miles where I don't find it helpful. My longest London run was just under 20 and that was fine. Got my route all plotted out for next weeks long run already Grin

emummy · 08/08/2016 10:18

Sounds like you know what you are doing lastqueen, hope all goes to plan.
Short run with dd2 this morning. She has had a 5 week break from athletics training with an ankle problem, she's now allowed to train again so asked me to take her for a run. She had her athletics club champs in 3 weeks so she wants to be fit enough to take on her no.1 rival! So pleasant sunny run by the river with the dog for us.
