Another hot and sunny run, dog definitely not enjoying the heat. Had to keep her on lead or I think she would just have slept under a bush!

Decided I'd go and do a 5 mile race tonight, mainly to make me feel I could complete my 10k on Sunday Confused. Got totally soaked and very muddy but I just dipped under 45mins and got a nice t-shirt Smile

6.3 on the old treadmill. The sun is actually "hurty" hot today. Even in the gym I was pouring with sweat.

lastqueenofscotland · 25/06/2016 15:13

3.1 from parkrun to add, reall happy, under a minute away from my pb and 16th lady of 170 odd

MyBlackCat · 25/06/2016 18:40

3.1 parkrun miles to add - my 50th run, looking forward to getting my t-shirt Grin

0ellenbrody0 · 25/06/2016 20:02

3.1 from a sweaty and rather undignified Parkrun

588.6

stilllearnin · 25/06/2016 20:28

3.25 to add from today. Felt like crying the whole way round but defo better to be doing it than not. I am moving on Friday and already a tiny bit panicky about finding some different routes. I like to get out into some green asap and we will be backing onto a 'muggy' and v boring common that I would like to avoid. Its only a mile from where I am now so fine on longer runs but I need a nice 3-4 mile route and scratching my head a bit.

591.85 - should be correct as I did it on a calculator Smile

karatekimmi · 25/06/2016 20:43

A few runs this week - a track 5k race (which gives me a new category on the power of 10!!) a club run on Wednesday, a trial run of a trail relay in a couple of weeks and a steady parkrun today!

606.05

Good luck to anyone running tomorrow- is it just cinnamon?

I'm marshalling a half tomorrow, it starts where I work so I'm planning on running there to see how feasible it would be to run to work - it's quite rural and there is one bit where I'd have to run on the road - not sure about it as its a 60 speed limit!

CalmItKermitt · 25/06/2016 21:06

Can I join in??

I am very new to running. I'm just starting the Couch to 5K again.

Did it a few years ago but my knees packed up and I had to stop :(

So I've got some proper trainers and I'm going to take it ultra cautiously this time.

So - I'm nearly 50. Is it too late to get fit??

emummy · 26/06/2016 09:12

Welcome CalmItKermitt! It's never too late to get fit! I was 45 yesterday, took up running 2 years ago, hope to be doing it for many years to come.
Beautiful run along country roads this morning, sunny, not too hot, really enjoyed it.

CalmItKermitt · 26/06/2016 11:52

Thanks for the welcome emummy!

My knees are a bit twingey this morning.

Sharp pain right on the front. It seems to go away once I start a run though and appears again the day after.

lastqueenofscotland · 26/06/2016 14:11

13.1 brutal hot, hilly miles. Completely ruined.

karatekimmi · 26/06/2016 17:37

Welcome kermit you're never too old in my opinion, just don't ask Rosemary ford!!

I marshalled a half marathon today, and got the opportunity to try running to my work place to see how feasible it is. It is definitely doable so I might give it a go in the next could of weeks!

CalmItKermitt · 26/06/2016 21:02

Rosemary Ford?

cinnamongreyhound · 27/06/2016 13:06

Glad it worked out karatekimmi!

All good training lastqueenofscotland Wink

Welcome CalmItKermitt! I did c25k 4 years ago and got the bug, I'm not quite 50 but no reason that should stop you at all!

Really enjoyed my 10k race yesterday, chip time was 55:51 so I'm pleased with that. Very undulating and a mixture of showers, cloudy breeze and very hot sun! Unfortunately with all the rain the field they used as a car park was very muddy and dh got our car stuck in it Sad. Made for a stressful start but we got towed out and then had a lovely couple of ours on the beach. The car is now shaking like mad over 50mph so dh has taken it in today to get it checked out, poor thing!

Wasn't going to run today but a friend text me to see if I wanted to so went out, enjoyed it but felt exhausted after.

0ellenbrody0 · 27/06/2016 20:06

I'm gradually trying to increase my distance, I need to take it carefully as I have hip problems. Thought I'd add 500m every week. I'm up to 6k.
3.7 to add.

632.3

CalmItKermitt · 27/06/2016 22:01

Thank you Cinnamon!!

God you're all flying!

I downloaded an app and my friend and I started our first official week of c25k today, aided by a disgustingly perky American lady who assures us we're awesome. We hope to live up to her expectations at some point.

karatekimmi · 27/06/2016 22:15

Track session tonight it's 2.5 from me to add.

634.8

kermit in a radio interview Rosemary Connelly (not ford) said she wouldn't recommend takin up running if you're over 40!! I think it wasn't a popular viewpoint!!

Hope your car is okay cinnamon

Anglaise1 · 28/06/2016 09:04

36 to add from last week including a 23km trail race Sunday. Unfortunately I had a really bad race due to a bad right foot and left knee (it has been painful since the marathon in March but worse lately, I really didn't enjoy running at all last week). I saw the doctor yesterday and he thinks it is a stress fracture in my foot but I'm having a bone scan next week to confirm. So no running for me for the foreseeable future Sad

emummy · 28/06/2016 11:39

Good run this morning along the hilly track in the woods. 6 mile tempo run, with 1 mile warm up and cool down jogs. Kept up a good pace for me, really pleased, nice to see improvement in my running.
Sorry about your injury Anglaise, hope it improves quickly.

678.8

KeyserSophie · 28/06/2016 13:31

Oh merde Anglaise- sorry to hear that, and fingers crossed it's not a fracture

Just 5 to add from a very soggy evening run with a friend.

standingonlego · 28/06/2016 19:19

Catching up with thread - park run plus a Sunday longer run to add. One problem, I seem to have completely lost my speed...will eat better and sleep more Smile
