I started a new thread. Can't link as on phone and have a heat pad on my knee while awaiting my physio apt.

And on your marks.....

Not yet natty I'll start W6 tomorrow. It's rained all day here, my poor new shoes will get all dirty! 😩

I tried some Asics on and they were very supportive. A bit narrow in the toes for me sadly. (feet like shovels).

comeagainforbigfudge · 15/04/2016 19:47

Just done the 20 min run. OH MY GIDDY AUNT that was hard. The last few mins, eesh! To be fair i did have to run up a short but steep hill towards the end. If had ran the opposite way i might be saying it was easy ha ha ha crack ma sel up

Im also a size 16-18. And im so slow. Checked my pace. 6.5km/hr Blush

BUT IM STILL FASTER THAN THE PERSON SITTING ON THE COUCH (shouting at myself there, not you lovely lot Grin)

NattyGolfJerkin · 15/04/2016 22:58

Well done bigfudge! I'm a fellow slow poke. I've just calculated my pace for today's run and it is 7.2 km/h (that's including my walk pace).

We're a heck of a lot faster than the people sat on their sofas Star

Stellar67 · 16/04/2016 08:27

20 minutes done here again. And no knee issues. Fingers crossed I'm back in the game.

Shoes are so expensive. But now you know what type you need you'll be fine to watch the sales.

Well done everyone. The C25k threads have always been a joy to read.

natty I calculated my pace to be about the same. I'm definitely going for endurance rather than speed. I would rather be able to run 10k without stopping than be speedy. I don't want to win races, just finish them.

NattyGolfJerkin · 16/04/2016 11:04

I agree with you about finishing rather than winning. The only thing I'm competing against is my own last run. It's what I like about running, tbh.

Stellar67 · 16/04/2016 11:37

I agree re pace. I am slow but I'd rather finish too. Smile

W6R1 done. I thought I had it in the bag after successfully doing 20. back to 5, 8 then 5 min runs with 3 min walks in between.
Omg I struggled! I couldn't get my breathing right, my chest hurt, my legs were leaden - I was pants!
The only bonus was my new trainers were super comfy.

NattyGolfJerkin · 16/04/2016 17:18

You did it though, ellen

comeagainforbigfudge · 16/04/2016 18:45

Yes what natty said ellen

YOU DID IT!

I spent the day "playing" with dd. Which translates as sitting on floor and simply being there to crawl over but she doesnt want to play with me really. Shes only 10 months. I was just to read books to her or be used as a launch pad for sit on me to standing GrinGrinGrin

DoreenLethal · 16/04/2016 21:25

So tomorrow I am doing a 3k fun run. Meep.

I did 2/3 of it last Sunday as practice and I am sure I'll cope.

NattyGolfJerkin · 17/04/2016 09:07

Good luck for today, Doreen

NattyGolfJerkin · 17/04/2016 11:15

W5R3 done. On my app that's 3 runs of 8/5/8 min. Weirdly, I found the middle 5 mins really hard going. Lovely morning though and a pretty route by the river, so not all bad.

Next session ends on a 10min run (8/5/10). Bit worried about that as today's run was challenging.

0ellenbrody0 · 17/04/2016 12:09

What app do you use natty? It seems different to mine. I use the bbc one. My w5r3 was 20 min run. W6r1 was 8/5/8. They seem to differ slightly.

NattyGolfJerkin · 17/04/2016 12:25

The fitness22 one. It's the 10k training plan but the first 9wks are the same as their 5k training plan.

NattyGolfJerkin · 17/04/2016 12:39

I'm a bit tight in my hips today. I think I'm going to do some yoga in between to avoid injury and stay flexible.

NattyGolfJerkin · 17/04/2016 14:59

Oh poo. I misread w6R1. It's 2x 10min runs.

Mind you, turns out mate and I did 3x 8 min runs by mistake today (no wonder my hips ache Hmm). I thought it was 8/5/8 runs but looking at it now, the middle 5 was a walk. I thought my app had conked out/skipped on when it said "cool down" after 2 runs and so we added an extra 8 on at the end. No wonder that middle '5 min' run felt hard, I said to my mate that it felt like a bloody long 5 mins Grin. Eejit

DoreenLethal · 17/04/2016 15:20

Well, I did it!

I ran for the full 3k - 30 mins. Took it steady and only stopped once for a brief walk when I couldn't get past some walkers. Less than one lamppost length though.

Chuffed to bits.

NattyGolfJerkin · 17/04/2016 15:29

Hooray for doreen Flowers 🏆

KeepOnPlodding · 17/04/2016 16:18

Well done Doreen! GrinStarGrin

DoreenLethal · 17/04/2016 16:36

Thank you - I can't believe I got there and got a medal. Can't wait for my hot bath tonight though.

0ellenbrody0 · 17/04/2016 19:56

Well done Doreen that's a great achievement Star

comeagainforbigfudge · 18/04/2016 12:30

Oh well done doreen!

I just attempted w6r1. Mines was a 5/8/5 min jog (with 3 min walk inbetween). Decided to tackle killer small hill first. Hard but got to top at end of 5mins so got to recover nicely. The 8 min run was easier than i thought it would be. Got to end of it and realised i was further along my route and i was probably going to have to add a bit extra to my perfect 2mile route Shock

Oh but then! Recover walk started to get a bit stitch like pain down right side. Tried to jog but twas agony. So i walked the rest of the way home at as fast a pace i could managed.

Am gutted that i never managed it all as up til that point i was feeling quite pleased with myself. I had to really talk myself into going out. Was nice and blustery, clear cobwebs but not hard to jog in. Im hoping the stitch is just related to being massively dehydrated from work. Never drink enough. Need to sort that!!
