I started a new thread. Can't link as on phone and have a heat pad on my knee while awaiting my physio apt.

And on your marks.....

Can I come and join you please?
I was running 3km but no further. Then I went for surgery and did my run last Thursday ( after getting OK from surgeon on Wednesday) and I did 75% today only managed 60% but then ran/walked rest of way.

I want to do a park run, that's my goal...

Help, I'm pretty fit and have been keeping fit with recovery from surgery in mind, which has helped immensely

Lou I use the Zen Labs one. The NHS one is also supposed to be good.

I am not losing any weight at all (although this is not my main aim of doing this but it would be nice). Anyone else? I'm on W8 now.

Rinceoir · 05/04/2016 07:14

W7r1 done. I've abandoned podcast and just using my own playlists now. Little twinge in hip but not until the last so was happy enough. I'm working long days this weekend so I'll be lucky to get 3 runs in.

Rinceoir · 05/04/2016 07:37

Jelly, I've lost 2 stone since January, a bit over a stone since c25k started but I've been counting calories too.

0ellenbrody0 · 05/04/2016 15:23

W4R2 done this morning. I did my usual circuit in reverse which worked out a bit better as the downhill stretch was on the way home.
I found the first run really hard then they seem to get a bit easier. I'm not sure how I'll manage a block of running, it will just be hard the whole time won't it - eek.

KeepOnPlodding · 05/04/2016 18:20

W9R3 completed this morning! GrinGrinGrin

Now need to work out how to keep going without Laura or whether to keep on repeating the final podcast and just add a little but more every so often (scientific approach!?)

Boozena · 06/04/2016 10:05

W5r3 complete- I ran for 20 mins!!
Anyone else using Zen Labs find it jumps about a bit? E.g today was 1x20 min run but next week it goes back to 5 & 8 mins, or is it part of the building up?

WineOrSleep · 06/04/2016 17:40

It's finally stopped raining. In fact it's glorious outside. I should go for a run shouldn't I?

the sofa is so comfy

Aaaaarggh

0ellenbrody0 · 06/04/2016 20:03

w4R3 done. I came back and did an abs section from Jillian Michaels NoMoreTrouble Zones. No more running till Saturday now. I've found this week hard and not sure whether to start W5 on Saturday or do 1 more W4 run. The 5 mins kill me!

JellyJ · 06/04/2016 23:55

Rince well done!! I find it hard to reduce my calories as I just feel so hungry if I do but I am at least being careful with this now. Booze I seem to remember that week seemed a bit strange but it seems to work and it gets more consistent after that week :-)

SkodaLabia · 07/04/2016 09:58

You're all doing really well. Me and Unfit Friend haven't moved above a walk yet, but we have been walking very quickly for 30 mins. Hoping to break into a trot one day. Grin

Feeling better already, will start the app next week.Smile

Boozena · 08/04/2016 09:04

Thanks Jelly good to hear it gets a bit more consistent.
I was going to run today but as I'm not working tomorrow I think I'll have the day off and go in the morning.
I was working in the park where my local Parkrun is yesterday, it was nice! A smidgen hilly in parts but I think I can do it with a bit more training.
Skoda sounds like you're making good progress with your friend! Just give it a try- worst case scenario you go back to walking. I honestly can't believe the progress I've made, and just what my body is capable of when I push it.
If anyone is interested Primark have new exercise gear in and it's nice and cheap starting at £5 for some running leggings.

NattyGolfJerkin · 08/04/2016 17:30

Well done folks.

Today I managed W4R2. It felt so much more doable than the one before, even though the middle 2 running intervals were a minute longer. Funny isn't it? I think it's down to a few factors. It was less windy today so I didn't have that resistance to push against and I hadn't eaten for a good 5 hours. I definitely find I run better on an empty stomach.

I also reversed my route, starting with the main rd section rather than ending on it. I think that helped psychologically as I was 'fresh' for all the passing gawkers traffic, rather than feeling betrooty & spent at the end and then psyching myself up for the knobheads. It's a hilly route however you do it, so I wasn't going to get away with that but I do think I'll go that way in future.

0ellenbrody0 · 08/04/2016 17:45

w5R1 in the bag. Achy legs!

NattyGolfJerkin · 09/04/2016 10:39

Right. I'm off to finish W4 before the rain comes.

PinkFondantFancy · 09/04/2016 11:48

Hi all I've just done week 6 run 2 and these last few runs have been so so hard - have felt like my legs are lead weights and I'm having to drag them around. Is this normal? I would have thought it would be getting easier by now?? I've been managing 2 or 3 runs a week but fitness doesn't seem to be changing.....

NattyGolfJerkin · 09/04/2016 11:52

Spoke too soon. Got about halfway through and it bucketed down. At least it kept me cool. I did get lots of funny looks from people bundled up in big coats, hoods & brollies as I went by in my drifit t-shirt.

Week 5 here I come Grin. I need to catch up with ellenbrody Wink

NattyGolfJerkin · 09/04/2016 11:55

Pink, I do think fitness is changing but you aren't noticing it because every run (or every other run) pushes you that bit further. For instance, could you even have contemplated wk6 run intervals at wk2, lead legs or no lead legs?

JellyJ · 09/04/2016 23:06

Pink I found it didn't seem to get any easier for at least the first 6 weeks (lung capacity during the runs and achy legs after). But of course as Natty says, each one is longer so you are improving all the time. I'm on W8 now and I still find it hard, but I can run for 30 minutes slowly, which was unthinkable 8 weeks ago.

PinkFondantFancy · 10/04/2016 07:58

Thanks both, i hasn't thought about it like that but you're right. I guess the opposite is probably true too - if I did a wk 2 run it would be easier now (and it definitely wasn't easy at the time!!l)

DontDoItDi · 10/04/2016 13:58

W3R3 finished. I don't feel any fitter and the last minute of those 3-minute runs goes on for-e-ver but I couldn't have done 3 minutes when I started so things must be getting better Smile

SkodaLabia · 10/04/2016 15:53

Exciting times ahead tomorrow

SkodaLabia · 10/04/2016 15:54

Oops, so exciting pressed post too soon!
Tomorrow is Week 1, run 1!

DontDoItDi · 10/04/2016 16:38

Good luck Skoda and Sklodasfriend

NattyGolfJerkin · 10/04/2016 17:50

Yes, best of luck to Team Skoda.
