I started a new thread. Can't link as on phone and have a heat pad on my knee while awaiting my physio apt.

And on your marks.....

Welcome momma. Sounds like you are doing same as me - I also have a DD, she will be 2 in 3 weeks. Started logging with mfp in January and am on week 6 of c25k. I'm down 2 stone (but still have an embarrassing 2 more to lose).

I'm hoping to do w6r2 tomorrow, but it might get bumped to Friday. I started the 30 day shred in preparation for my holidays and in the hope of losing 10 lbs by then (7 weeks) and I'm sore!

mommathatwearspink · 30/03/2016 21:00

Wow rinceior, how inspiring! Well done Smile
Do you mind me asking how many calories you've dropped to daily?

Rinceoir · 30/03/2016 21:12

I don't cope well on extreme restriction, so I'm having 1300-1500 most days, a bit more at weekends. It's been going well mostly. I'm hoping the increase in exercise will negate the need to keep dropping calories.

Rinceoir · 31/03/2016 07:14

Well week 6, run 2 done. Last of the intervals! Legs felt heavy and I seem to be getting slower not faster but over next few weeks I'm going to aim to get to 5k even if it takes me 40mins. I'm a lot heavier than when I used to run so hopefully as I keep losing it should help me speed up!

DontDoItDi · 31/03/2016 12:09

W2R1 today. Got through the runs so far OK but it's tiring! I think I've been expecting too much and trying to run too fast because I remember what I could do back in the autumn but I've been welded to the sofa all winter and I really do have to start from scratch. And I want to take it carefully to avoid injuries too. So I re-read the thread from last year to remind myself how it was when I started, and at least I don't think I'm doing any worse!

KeepOnPlodding · 31/03/2016 22:32

W9R2 completed this morning Smile

Didn't manage to run last week at all and feel that I lost my oomph a bit. Legs feel very tired but I'm chuffed that I did it. Planning to go to parkrun on Saturday and do the last 'Laura Run'.

Feels a bit scary but I have downloaded a 0-10k app...

Rinceoir · 31/03/2016 23:06

Well done plodding! I'm terrified of my local park run, they seem very fast (to me anyway!). I am planning my 25minute run this weekend too.

KeepOnPlodding · 31/03/2016 23:21

Rinceoir I was terrified when we went a couple of weeks ago - I even took DH with me for moral support although he is one of those sickening people that even with no training can just turn up and run 5k Sad.

Despite being lapped by the lead runner it was a great experience and although I was near the back with the walkers, the dogs and the toddlers it didn't matter at all.

I told myself that if it was really awful I would:

a. Hide behind a tree until everyone had gone past and then leg it;
b. Fake a terrible injury and talk loudly about how it would affect my chances of being race-ready for the London Marathon; or
c. Smile nicely and never come back

Do give it a go, you might be very pleasantly surprised. Smile

Rinceoir · 01/04/2016 07:48

I should I know. It's funny because I used to run a lot, although I was never fast and I know these events are fun. I am built for longer slower runs I think- when I ran a lot I could do a half marathon in 2:10 which is quite respectable with 5k in 30mins, 10k in 60- my pace was very steady! 5k in 30 mins seems a long way away now, although it was 3.5 years ago and I was 2 stone lighter.

NattyGolfJerkin · 01/04/2016 17:36

Hello all. Long time, no post.

W3 R2 just completed. I'm a bit behind schedule as I've had a busy week. I was planning to do this one on Weds but it didn't work out, so now I'll be shoehorning W3R2, W3R3 & W4R1 into 3 consecutive days in order to stay on track and fit in with a few days away next week.

I ran with a migraine today which wasn't wholly pleasant but needs must and I feel better psychologically for having done it. All things considered, it wasn't too bad.

0ellenbrody0 · 01/04/2016 19:17

W3R3 done. I struggled more today than with the previous 2 and I had a stitch, I wonder why?
Plan to move to W4R1 on Sunday.

Lolly86 · 01/04/2016 19:25

Just finished w1r3. Having to do it indoors when my toddler naps at the moment so doing laps of the downstairs of the house has been amusingGrin need to get fitter and loose some weight!

Rinceoir · 01/04/2016 22:00

Ellen I think it's there's lots of factors which influence it- I found w6r1 really hard (3x5min runs) which I couldn't understand after doing the 20minute run just 2 days beforehand. Planning my first 25 minute run tomorrow.

0ellenbrody0 · 02/04/2016 08:45

I can't imagine a 25 min run yet!! 😄
Day off today but plan to start w4 tomorrow. I'm off for 2 weeks now (school hols) so there's no excuse!
I've signed up for the Race for Life in July, I need something concrete to aim for. I've also signed up to do a virtual race ( I want a medal!).
I think ParkRuns look great, but I'm nowhere near that just yet.

Rinceoir · 02/04/2016 10:33

25mins done, hip/thigh started aching towards the end. Feels like my IT band, so will be having a few days of rest, ibuprofen and diy tennis ball massages. Hopefully should nip it in the bud. Need new runners too so. I'll keep doing my 30 day shred dvd with some modified moves to keep fit.

ElgartheCat · 03/04/2016 09:32

Hello, what C25K app would people reccomend?

NattyGolfJerkin · 03/04/2016 10:41

W4R1 done.

My thighs feel like lead & knees really hurt. Doing it 3 consecutive days isn't wise. Especially when my route is hilly. I think I might need to repeat w4 r1.

NattyGolfJerkin · 03/04/2016 10:52

Hi Elgar, I use the fitness22 10k runner one. They do a 5k version, the 10k just goes from 0-10k. I like it because it's easy to use and you can use your own music with it. I use it with iPhone, don't know if there's an android version.

KeepOnPlodding · 03/04/2016 13:46

Elgar I used the NHS C25k one and liked it. I've just downloaded the Fitness 22 10k Runner on someone's recommendation to try to get to 10k next. I think I can start at week 7/8 and then build to 60mins of running (which feels like a BiG challenge at the moment).

Went to a very wet parkrun yesterday. I chuckled when the Race Director called us all 'hard core' for braving the weather - I am the least hard core plodder there is!!! I'm still very, very slow but determined to keep at it and improve my time over the coming months.

0ellenbrody0 · 03/04/2016 15:26

NattyGolf I think we're at the same stage. I did w4R1 this morning. The jump from 3 min runs to 5 mins was harsh,! I thought I was going to be sick!

I use the BBC app. I have Sarah Millican telling me when to run 'are ye ready pet? Goooo!' Makes me smile!

Boozena · 04/04/2016 10:33

Hello!
I've been AWOL as namechanged for another thread.
W5r2 for me today and I think it went well. My phone went flat half way through so I had to guess- fortunately I was on a track and worked out that if I did 2.25 laps in 5 mins then 4 laps should cover the 8 min run?!
That's what I did anyway so hopefully no harm done. Was harder work without music though!
Switched from full length joggers to 3/4 length lightweight ones today and feels loads better. Just need to ditch the vest or running top as I was warm on top wearing both and a jacket !
So much nicer to run now the weather is picking up :-)

comeagainforbigfudge · 04/04/2016 11:39

Morning! Been awol for a few days. Rubbish shift pattern.

I have however completerd w5r1. Last five mins were HARD GOING but its done.

Got a lot of nights coming up. No idea how im going to fit runs in

Kilmeny · 04/04/2016 12:31

Just finished week 8 Grin and it was fine until the last few minutes when my hip started to hurt quite badly. I shuffled and ran and walked the end. Bloody hip, I need to stretch more and probably see a physio. But I ran about 24 out of the 28 minutes. You should have seen me sweating and panting on week one, I can't believe I've got this far.

Rinceoir · 04/04/2016 16:42

Kilmeny sounds like you and I are in the same boat! I think I was working so hard on avoiding worse knee problems that I neglected my other muscles. A physio friend kindly pummelled it and caused me great pain so I'm going to try a short run tomorrow.

Lou55 · 04/04/2016 17:39

I want to start running, could anyone tell me the best c25k app please?
thanks in advance.
