I started a new thread. Can't link as on phone and have a heat pad on my knee while awaiting my physio apt.

And on your marks.....

tondelaya that sounds shite. Sorry you had a rotten one.

0ellenbrody0 · 27/04/2016 20:04

I hate seeing people I know but I often do,usually towards the end when I'm a red faced sweaty mess!

Re:Shoes. I bought some Asics gel cumulus after I had a gait analysis done at a running shop. They are so comfy.

I love running with no music. I spend all day surrounded by noise (primary school teacher) so I relish the peace and quiet. My run is mostly across a field and then lanes so is lovely and peaceful.

w7R3 done but I can't run again till Sunday.
I love reading how everyone is getting on, this thread is great!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 27/04/2016 20:53

Week one run two done
So far so not too bad
And my new phone arm holder thingy came today and it is bright pink Grin

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 27/04/2016 20:54

I'm a fan of no noise too.
I find it really restful.

comeagainforbigfudge · 27/04/2016 22:00

Disastrous w7r1. Managed 10mins running then had to walk the rest. Was so tired, was after a 12hr shift mind you. PLUS looking at my stats i ran 1st mile in fastest time yet. Think was too fast, hence being unable to run the rest. Oh well. Least i went out.

Stellar67 · 27/04/2016 22:39

Skoda STOP!
Can you afford to visit a local sports physio? Mine was £30. Told me what kind of feet I had, down to one leg short that the other. How shoes in shops may work or may not as not specified to each person. I'm getting insoles tomorrow to put in my fancy shoes that I got from a fancy shop covered in Lycra. It's a bloody long process but now I'm in the game I'm keeping myself sorted, because I want to run 10k like a gazelle GrinWink

OP posts:
SkodaLabia · 28/04/2016 07:10

Yes, I did wonder about a physio, as I too am aiming for gazelle status. Grin I'm not running again til Saturday and will reassess then. I think I need to stretch more too. It definitely feels like something different to achey tired leg Sad

I'm pretty sure my running technique is ok, I'm going really slowly with short strides and landing mid foot rather than on my heels.

I really want to keep on running. Sad

Stellar67 · 28/04/2016 07:52

That sounds good. I have flat feet. Insoles feel weird. But knee okay.

I think I'm going to go back to physio once these trainers are done too, he said he can analyse the tread!

W2R3 just completed Smile my knee started hurting a little bit towards the end but not so bad that it stopped me running. Also I got a little bit further than previous days too so I must be improving, if only slightly! Won't be able to run again until Monday or Tuesday now so just hope I can be as enthusiastic after 3 days break (I will be cycling to and from work for 2 of those days though so hopefully that will keep the exercise motivation going).

Just wondering what sort of pace I am meant to be walking at between the running minutes? I guess I'm doing slightly faster than normal walking, but thinking maybe I should be doing speed walking or something?

SkodaLabia · 28/04/2016 09:57

I have flattish feet and moderate pronation, but so far knees and back doing ok.

ArcticMumkey · 28/04/2016 10:03

Hello fellow C25Kers. Can i join you? Currently on week 5, dreading the 20 minute run that I'll be faced with this weekend! I have a park run pencilled in on 11th June and am enjoying running again after having my DD 16 weeks ago. Also have the added motivation/torture of squeezing into a bridesmaid dress this summer Confused

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 28/04/2016 21:41

here for more moaning...scroll on by if you are of a delicate nature

well since the disaster that was yesterday my right ankle started killing me, left stabby leg is all better and just feels like i have been running (which is almost true) but the right one is now making a horrible popping feeling whenever I flex my foot up or down. You can also feel it pop pop popping if you put your hand on the back where your leg/ankle turns into your heel.

Do I rest or carry on? or give up altogether and wait to be craned out of the house

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 29/04/2016 18:57

Week one run 3 done.
Lovely spring evening here and dd who is 9 came with me unfortunately she is lively fit young thing Grin but it was a lovely half hour together
Covered a longer distance tonight so all in all so far so good.

NattyGolfJerkin · 30/04/2016 10:39

Tond, that sounds grim. I'd probably rest it if I were you.

w7r2 done. It was a repeat of w7r1. Felt much more comfortable. I took it slower and it helped a lot. Another beautiful morning here, which helps.

0ellenbrody0 · 01/05/2016 11:24

I'd rest that too if I was you tond what a bummer.

W8R1 done, not beautifully or well, but done all the same. I hadn't run since Wednesday which has been my longest gap and I did find it hard. 28 mins though! Super chuffed with myself. I'm up to 4.58 k according to Runkeeper but that includes the warm up and cool down walk, so v slow.

Have good runs today if you're going out everyone.

keepinrunning · 01/05/2016 21:13

Week 6 finished. Am actually (almost!) starting to enjoy it. Can't believe I can run for 25 minutes! 90 secs felt difficult in week 1. No longer counting down to the end of the runs.

At the moment I'm running with my phone in my jacket pocket. But thinking as the weather warms up I won't want the jacket. Any advice on the best way to carry phone? Can you get pouch things that strap around your arm? Are they any good or uncomfortable?

0ellenbrody0 · 01/05/2016 23:51

I've got an arm strap thingy that my phone fits in. It's ok, but I need someone to do it up for me, so a bit rubbish when I'm at home on my own!
It was about £5 from sports direct.

SkodaLabia · 02/05/2016 08:35

Team Skoda is about to go out for W4R1. Lovely sunny morning here and looking forward to it. Poorly Leg seems to have got better, and I managed the last run without pain by going exceptionally slowly - not even our usual slow pace, but almost on the spot running. Still, if that's what it takes to keep going.

Not going to the running shop just yet, as I'm not having knee or back pain I'm hoping my trainers are fine, and I just needed to warm up more. They do have a low heel drop (get me), which apparently can give lower calf pain until you get used to them.

I was wondering about one of those arm things too, keepin, but I also wondered about a bum bag, as I like to have my inhaler with me and I have cartoon ham arms so I'm not sure the arm thing will fit.

DontDoItDi · 02/05/2016 18:33

Did W5R3 for the second time today. It’s a solid 20 minute run. I want to stick with this one for a few more sessions before moving on because (a) I enjoy this length and (b) last year I was more prone to injuries on the longer runs so I want to really feel ready. Instead I feel shattered Smile

But it is helping my general fitness - I was away in the Highlands this weekend and going for walks in the hills, not very long walks but even so without the running over the last few weeks I would definitely have struggled.

keepinrunning I also wear a bum-bag for my phone / doorkeys.

SkodaLabia · 02/05/2016 21:01

W4R1 went marvellously! Ended up doing a bit uphill by not planning the route very well, which nearly did us in, but we made it.

Oh lord, Don't, we are on W5 next week. 20 minutes, you say?

JellyJ · 02/05/2016 22:06

keepin I use a Ronhill wrist pouch which is quite stretchy and is just about big enough for my phone (I don't take keys). It's comfy and easy to put on. I think I'd find the kind that goes around the waist a but uncomfortable.

keepinrunning · 02/05/2016 22:45

ooh, hadn't considered a bum bag. Would that be comfy to run with or bounce up and down a lot?!

SkodaLabia · 02/05/2016 23:45

Does the wrist pocket hold an iPhone? It looks teeny on Amazon. Also, does it annoy you yanking your headphone cable about?

I was going to get a running belt until Jelly bamboozled me with the wrist thingy, they look less bouncy than a bum bag, what do people reckon?

NattyGolfJerkin · 03/05/2016 09:35

I've got a Nike arm strap thing (don't like) and a cheap stretchy pouch thing that goes at the top of my arm (brilliant). I bought the pouch thing from Amazon, it was less than a fiver. Easy to pull on and off, washable, easy to tuck my phone into (my watch syncs with my music so I can change tracks on there if I want to).

NattyGolfJerkin · 03/05/2016 11:09

7/3 complete, for me that's a 25min straight (5min warm up/cool down either end). Felt OK actually. I took it really slowly (4.3km for the warm up & run section) and it felt comfortable. There was a bit of a drizzle at the end which was welcome, tbh.
