13.5 from me for my Stairmaster race yesterday- out and back over HK's 2 highest peaks. Massive temptation to DNF all the way over the second peak (Had my excuses all lined up :-)), but then met a guy I know at the CP and we tackled the 3rd peak together which made it go quicker and then I only had 2 descents and 1 climb to go (although I ALWAYS remember that last climb as shorter than it is). Was 5 mins slower than last year but everyone was due to the weather and poor visibility. Came in 8th woman/2nd vet. in a thin but good field with a few internationals - won 50% off a pair of Hokas, which is handy as I need a box free pair of challengers for my RTTS in July and a trophy. Stiff as a board today though.

Wow Keyser what a race! Excellent result with the weather, well done.

thewavesofthesea · 10/04/2016 08:18

6.2 this week from me. Had a 5 day gap due to husbands illness and brief holiday. First run after this gap was vvvvv hard! Aiming for more this week. Might be (if I am brave enough!) joining a running club this week......

lastqueenofscotland · 10/04/2016 12:25

Keyser I'm never convinced you and anglaise are human! 19.5 from me in 3:10 felt utterly atritional from mile 11 so just happy to have finished it.

Taper time!!

Pb, pb! Glen Livet 10k, lovely route though hillier than advertised! Super happy, first sub-60 10k, got 58:37, really pleased. Might even try the wee bottle of whisky in my goody bag!

lastqueenofscotland · 10/04/2016 14:29

Are you a highlander emummy?!

emummy · 10/04/2016 17:35

I am in Aberdeenshire, lastqueen, more of a Royal Deesider! Was a wee trek over the mountains, about 90 mins, to get there, but love that drive past The Lecht ski centre, absolutely beautiful and lots of fun.

lastqueenofscotland · 10/04/2016 17:58

Ah no way I used to live in Ballater! Small world

emummy · 10/04/2016 19:54

Small world indeed! We are in Banchory; I love Ballater but it's too far from Aberdeen for dh's work. Some lovely races up here, got Balmoral in 2 weeks, thinking of the Ballater 10 miles over the summer. You'll need to come back up for a run!

lastqueenofscotland · 10/04/2016 20:24

I wasn't a runner when I was in Ballater, id now love to do the 10, and the crathes half!

FiftyNineOhEight · 10/04/2016 20:29

I haven't run for 2 weeks, as I've had a sore foot - physic thought it might be plantar fasciitis over the phone, but decided it was just some soft tissue damage when she saw me. And real life has been a tad busy. So today's HM was a bit of a challenge Smile

221.99 (garmin says 13.13)

Wow, well done to all the racers in the face of various adversities . Hope your foot is ok fiftynine, good it's not plantar fasciitis at least!
That sounds like an amazing race Keyser, congrats on sticking it out to get a brilliant result and well deserved trophy and new Hokas.
Whisky in the goody bag emummy ? I want to do that race! Congrats on your PB, that is fantastic Smile.

Back from skiing yesterday, snow was fine but high winds shut lots of the lifts some days, we were lucky not to get trapped in the wrong valley one day!
Completely neglected my Achilles exercises, didn't think one week would make much difference but is a bit stiff and sore again so a short, slow run only today. I am going to have to keep doing these exercises daily forever, aren't I Confused
3.5 to add makes 225.49

Purpletoes · 10/04/2016 23:25

Thanks everyone for your comments on my hm. I was very chuffed. I have my next race booked. A local hilly 10km which my oh is also running with me. Grin

Congratulations emummy on your PB great time on a hilly course as well.
Congratulations to fiftynine and keyser as well on your races and good luck to everyone going marathons in the next few weeks.

So after my race on Sunday. I had a slow short jog home after work. 1st week back after mat leave. Intended on going to club run on Tuesday but felt a cold coming on and legs still felt tired. My cold turned into sinusitis so was crippled with headache and pain for the next few days. No running for me.

Cleared by Friday so did a localish parkrun as it was their first birthday. Beautiful course in a country park but basically up and down a hill! Elevation gain of 128m. Weather was awful rainy cold and I may have had a hangover from a girly night on Friday Wink---- can't wait to do the course on A dry day.

I also did junior parkrun today with my 4 year old ds. It was slow and lots of things to look atGrin must remember next time to take off auto pause on garmin.
So very low total from me this week.
5.6 + 245.49=251.09

Purpletoes · 10/04/2016 23:26

Sorry 5.6 +225.49=231.09

MyBlackCat · 11/04/2016 18:37

My first run in over a week due to ski holiday and first run since finding out I am pregnant Smile I need to accept that my running may have to go on the back burner, however I want to continue for as long as I can. Almost 6 miles off road to add, ground is a lot drier which was good.

emummy · 11/04/2016 19:16

Congratulations MyBlackCat, great news! Hope you continue to feel well and enjoy running.

familygermsareok · 11/04/2016 20:53

Congratulations MyBlackCat, that's great Smile

6.5 this morning, lovely seeing all the spring flowers out, but cold and windy and legs felt heavy and slow.
243.5

cinnamongreyhound · 11/04/2016 22:01

Well done KeyserSophie, emummy and fiftynineoheight

Congratulations MyBlackCat! I ran until the day before my due date even it was pretty slow and was back 3 weeks after having him so it is possible. Take it day by day/week by week. I found it easier once I'd got over the first trimester sickness but hard to maintain my fitness through it!

Fast canicross run that nearly killed me 246.8

Purpletoes · 12/04/2016 06:28

Congratulations myblackcat I had only started running about 3 weeks before my bfp but couldn't keep it up as was so tired especially in 1st trimester. I did do a lot of power walking throughout pregnancy to build up fitness and started running again 6 weeks post. A year later I am running 3-4 times a week and have done a hm so I think you should be fine continuing running as long as you can just don't expect to be speedy! Wink

It's the best thing in the world. Off to club run tonight. Grin

emummy · 12/04/2016 08:50

Hilly run in woods, legs a wee bit tired but not bad.
