Well done for tapering Anglaise1 have a safe journey! Is the marathon this weekend?

Good luck KeyserSophie!

Another 4 from me this morning 297.28

MyBlackCat · 11/03/2016 20:39

I've not run for over a week as I've been away skiing for a few days. Was back on the treadmill after work for some intervals, looking forward to running in the fresh air tomorrow for parkrun, in fact I think it's two weeks since I've run outside, I've missed it Smile

300

emummy · 12/03/2016 09:05

Enjoy park run MyBlackCat!
Fartlek session for me this morning, felt good, nice to have a run on roads for a change.

Just back from the TransLantau 50k. I had my ankle taped but it was still really unstable, so I took it easy over the first 28k, which was mainly contour running with just one climb. The back half of the course had 2000m of ascent over 22km. I felt really happy with my climbing- was passing loads of people. Downhills I struggled with as lots of super-technical gullies and I just wasn't prepared to chance the ankle, so the people I passed were passing me back. It was also freezing up on the peak- I had a slight SOH failure at one point, it must be said. Had a pork pie at the next checkpoint and put Katy Perry (Roar) on repeat and perked up for the last 15k. 8th overall, 5th in the seniors. Happy with that given I'm a cripple at the moment.

Adding 31 miles to make 337 and now Im going to have a big G&T Grin

emummy · 12/03/2016 12:21

A very big G&T Keyser you deserve it! Well done indeed, a great result even without a dodgy ankle! Feet up now.
Just back from dd's club's cross country race, nicely soaked through! She was 4th so happy with that, and I've found a lovely new running route so a good day all round.

MyBlackCat · 12/03/2016 14:23

Well done keyser not sure I could run that distance. 3.1 parkrun miles where I went off too quickly then died followed by another 1.5 mile run with 15 miles of cycling in between. I've entered a duathlon next weekend, complete novice and under prepared but still looking forward to it Smile bit alarmed with how bad my legs felt after the bike when attempting to run again but hopefully I'll be ok.

341.6

cinnamongreyhound · 12/03/2016 21:19

Fabulous KeyserSophie!!!

Good luck MyBlackCat.

My 100th parkrun to add today 344.7

KeyserSophie · 13/03/2016 01:25

Congratulations Cinnamon. That must be a great feeling.

Blackcat It's not a steady run as there are a lot of unrunnable climbs, so you get some relief, although the climbs are quite challenging in themselves. I'm actually a bit worried about RTTS as that's 100k of runnable terrain. Good luck with the duathlon.

Reflecting on the race yesterday, I'm now in total awe of the ladies that do these mountain races in the UK in the rain and wind. Not sure I've got the tenacity for those.

Sending PB vibes to Anglaise

lastqueenofscotland · 13/03/2016 14:35

Keyser I walked across a lot of Lantau when I was in Hong Kong and nearly died it was horrendous! Fair play to you.

Half was a funny one today. It was advertised as being flat, it was bloody not, not "hilly" but definitely undulating. I went off to fast, it got warmer and warmer as the day went on and at 8 miles I nearly passed out. I've never known anything like it, I was sitting on the kerb throwing up water (naiiiceee) somehow managed to pick myself up and run a sub 2 (1:58:54).
There is a tiny tiny bit of me that is amazed I picked myself up and did it. I kept trying to pick up running in the past, and failed/ gave up a few weeks in (London marathon this year will be 53 weeks since I started running!) and the only thing that kept me going was telling myself "I'm not that girl." The rest of it was agony and I just jogged (11 min miles....) until a mile and a half to go and I made myself run. Bawled at the finish line. Strangely cathartic the whole experience.
They say you learn more from a bad run?!

Anglaise I'm thinking of you!

lastqueenofscotland · 13/03/2016 14:36

Oh and congrats on the 100th cinnamon!! 357.8

emummy · 13/03/2016 15:48

Wow lastqueen, what a run! Big well done for getting up and carrying on and you got a great time as a reward. Spoiling yourself tonight I hope?
Nice 13 mile run for me, going from my house up into the woods outside town. 1300 ft of climb in total, so very pleased with the time it took, has given me a little confidence for next month's race - could it be I won't be last after all?! Lovely warm day, ran in t shirt and capris for first time in months.

lastqueenofscotland · 13/03/2016 15:56

i have flapjacks in the oven!! its basically porridge right?!

MyBlackCat · 13/03/2016 18:06

Well done lastqueen enjoy the well deserved flapjacks. I've got 3.3 miles to add from another post bike run. Felt much better today than yesterday so feeling more confident about next Sunday's duathlon Smile

Anglaise1 · 13/03/2016 20:40

Contrats on your 50k run keyser and your place in your category. The last part sounds really tough. Well done!
Last Queen you did a sub 2 hour HM and didn't give up so that bodes well for the VLM.
cinners congrats on your 100th park run!
Barcelona marathon finished, it is really one to do, no major difficulties (except the slight hill for the never ending last 3kms), sunshine, loads of crowd support and music all the way round. I was on course for 3h30m until the 30km when my legs didn't obey my head and I finished at 3h35m03s. 7mn faster than Rome last year so a PB (thanks for the vibes keyser! It is right for my HM time 1h42/44 so happy coach. 3h30 was a little too ambitions, you need to do a HM in 1h40 to realistically achieve that.

dodobedoop · 13/03/2016 20:47

Hi ladies. Can I join in please?
I've signed up for a 10k in July, until this week I hadn't run properly since school, so 30 years!
I've been out twice this week, clocked up 6.5 miles! Mixture of running and walking.
I struggled today, but have done cardio every day this week also. My legs really weren't happy. Do you think I've overdone it please?

So adding my 6.5 in.

lastqueenofscotland · 13/03/2016 21:55

Amazing time! Well done Anglaise. Hope you've got a good celebration lined up Grin

suzannecaravaggio · 13/03/2016 23:01

high 5 all you racers :o
I'm still doing my run of the mill runs....will add up my miles and add them to the running total just as soon as I can find my maths headWink

KeyserSophie · 14/03/2016 05:28

Well done Anglaise That's a brilliant time!! Many congratulations. Glad my vibes reached Barcelona.

Lastqueen That sucks, but better now than at VLM. Once you started spewing, you did really well just to finish. Was it Silverstone you did? I heard that's tough as it's laps and not much crowd support.

Welcome dodobedoop and thanks for the miles. As to whether you overdid it, depends on the cardio. If it was 4 x 90 min spin classes, then yes, probably Grin. I find my ability to absorb a heavy training schedule does fluctuate a little anyway, so if you're just starting to incorporate running, maybe ease off on the other stuff a little for a few weeks. I also make sure I have 1 clear rest day a week.

Just adding 5 miles from my gym commute. Feeling all bouncy and refreshed despite Saturday's 50k, which is basically evidence that I should have gone harder, but at the same time, glad my ankle is still intact.

Booked my parking and shuttle for RTTS today, which I am enthusiastic about again, having been through a real "God, I wish I hadnt entered this" pit of CBA about it. I just struggle to see how I'm going to train for it- I guess will have to do 2 x 20-25k on consecutive days but even that's going to suck a lot in HK summer.

cinnamongreyhound · 14/03/2016 20:41

Sorry you were poorly but well done on the sub 2hr lastqueenofscotland!!!

Fantastic Anglaise1!

Welcome dodobedoop, a rest day is advised but you have to work to what you feel your body can do.

4.5 miles from me tonight. Should have gone with my canicross club tonight but I finished work half an hour early and had the chance to run mostly in the light so took it. Dogs had a ball and I enjoyed running on my own for a change! 390.15

I love running on my own with the dog too cinners. Also with friends but I love my run with the Archers omnibus podcast and my border collie. No running today but I forgot to add my miles from yesterday. Also to add that I didn't have a pitstop during the race, no GI problems at all. I ate really carefully a couple of days before, no fibre, fruit, veg, just pasta, ham, toast and honey. It worked! On the other hand one foot hurt like hell for the race due to a bunion and subsequent toe deformation.

lastqueenofscotland · 14/03/2016 21:42

Keyser it was Surrey so I was on some closed country road! I agree rather a major hydration malfunction now than in a month!!

2.25 gentle jog as still not feeling "right" after yesterday

413.05

Anglaise1 · 14/03/2016 21:54

My addition is up the creek I added 20.6 instead of 26.

Nice mixed pace run in the forest with dog, but favourite socks now have a hole in them Sad. Oh well, off to the shops!

stilllearnin · 15/03/2016 14:30

Hello a flying visit as I STILL try to get back in my running shoes!! 3.75 miles today.

428.95

Yes to the Archers Omnibus Anglaise!!

KeyserSophie · 16/03/2016 06:15

Just adding 5 from track last night. I cheated slightly and went in the slower group (i'm stranded between 2 groups ability-wise so I normally do 2 reps with the faster lot and then drop back and do the last 2 with the slower group) but it was still a good session. 5 sets of 1000m at 5k pace, 100m recovery walk, 500m at 3k pace, 90 secs standing recovery. Felt surprisingly strong after the weekend.
