welcome backinschool

Just an easy 5 miles from me this morning to make 860.34

emummy · 25/02/2016 11:40

Easy run today to recover from yesterday's boot camp which was far from easy! Beautiful sunny day, still some snow in the woods, lovely.
866.44

Anglaise1 · 25/02/2016 16:54

16,5 easy miles to add from the last few days. Beautiful day here today.

suzannecaravaggio · 25/02/2016 17:51

I ran in new shoes the other day :o
and realised all my other pairs need retiringSad
gah they dont last long do they!
or perhaps I just run really heavily...despite being short and rather slightConfused

MyBlackCat · 25/02/2016 18:29

Two short runs from me this week, it's the 15 mile race/run on Saturday so it was my attempt to taper Smile

Hi everyone, I'm still plodding along, though not as much as I'd like. Have about 26 miles to add from a few runs over last couple of weeks. Today will have been my last Feb run as we are going up to Aviemore for the weekend for my birthday (50 Shock ) DH has done a great job organising near perfect ski conditions, big bonus Grin

Anglaise1 · 26/02/2016 07:06

Family I'm glad you are still running a little even if it isn't as much as you'd hoped. Have a lovely 50th (it isn't as bad as it seems, in fact its quite liberating, you care even less what people think) sounds like DH has done a fantastic job organising the snow for you!
Suzanne shoes don't last long enough around 600 miles only which on my recent mileage means new shoes every 10 weeks in my dreams.

suzannecaravaggio · 26/02/2016 07:51

600 miles!
I have 3 pairs with around 380 miles on each and after running in a new pair I think I'm going to retire them all...mind you 2 of them are hoka and I think they have a reputation for not lasting very well?

backinschool · 26/02/2016 10:58

I feel a bit of a fraud here with all the long, fast runs you are doing while I'm still staggering around a couple of miles. Hope you don't mind a newbie. Do you add up all your milage? I only have 6.5 miles to add from this week. Managed 2.5 miles yesterday despite feeling awful and not eating much for a couple of days. I probably should have skipped it but until I get settled into regular running skipping runs leads to skipping weeks (or months) so I'm still glad I went. Feeling much better today so hoping to manage my first 5km run on Saturday.

lastqueenofscotland · 26/02/2016 11:04

Back in school add your milage to the bold number at the bottom :)

4.6 to add from last night. Plan for the weekend is park run, 10k race, then a light-ish week as will be braving a 20 miler next weekend

Re shoes I fond aesthetically Adidas last forever but I notice a big difference with the cushioning. I love new balance but can't seem to get more than 250 miles out of them. I currently have two pairs of saucony, one with 250 odd and look as good as new, one 180ish and the lining is going. I do love them though, I get on with them cv well! I had a pair of asics that the material on the top ripped so easily (I was literally just doing the odd park run and one or two two milers in the week) I haven't got another pair since. Though most road runners rave about them so maybe I should brave them again?!

My 4.6 + backs 6.5 =10.1 so that's

984.1

cinnamongreyhound · 26/02/2016 12:00

3 miles on my own mostly NOT in the dark this morning. Managed to fall over and my shoulder is getting stiffer as the day goes on. Will read back later, preparing for my Ofsted inspection, some time next week probably Monday morning when I'm nice and hobbly from my hm! 987.1

backinschool · 26/02/2016 12:39

Oh no cinnamongreyhound, that sounds painful. Good luck with Ofsted. I am starting teacher training in September (nuts, I know) and the name already sends a chill down my spine.

I'll add my 6.5 miles then to give 993.6

cinnamongreyhound · 26/02/2016 16:13

Hi backinschool well done for getting back to it. Can't recommend any races I'm afraid I'm down south, a good idea is often to check local running clubs websites for cheaper races. You're very welcome with any milage were all different abilities here. I'm a childminder, would love to teacher but I don't want a job that takes over my life (sorry!). My friend did her pgce last year and it was tough going, she's finding her nqt year tougher but she loves it Smile

I tend to get new ones each year for my birthday suzannecaravaggio but I don't do anywhere near your mileage!

Happy birthday familygermsareok, have a fab time!!

MyBlackCat · 26/02/2016 18:36

I'm absolutely gutted, 15 mile off road race tomorrow and I've woken up today with swollen glands, chesty cough, feeling hot then cold etc. I've felt worse and worse as the day has gone on. Don't feel in any way ready to run. I've put in so much effort to train for this and utterly devastated that it looks like I may not be able to. The thought of 2.5-3 hours running in the cold is not a pleasant one right now. I know there are more important things in life than a run but I was looking forward to the challenge of this Angry

emummy · 26/02/2016 18:42

Oh no MyBlackCat that's bad luck. Happened o me before my first 10k last year, I had food poisoning and was gutted to miss the race after all the work. Maybe you'll get better over night, but if not I hope you are better soon and can get some rest over the weekend.

emummy · 27/02/2016 09:14

Fartlek session this morning, bright & early! Made an old route more interesting and dog had great fun chasing me on the faster bits! Getting reward later - going for spa day with dd1 for her birthday. Back massage here I come!

Sorry to hear that black :(

3.1 from me at parkrun

1002.2

HalleLouja · 27/02/2016 10:35

11 miles from me this week makes 1013.2.

Am planning to do 10-12 tomorrow.

Anyone doing Berko HM? I am planning to do it next week. Weirdly I enjoyed it last year.

MyBlack I tried to race when I was a little bit ill the other week and had to give up half way (it was a 10 mile hilly one).

I have recently discovered TRX ropes and am a bit in love with them. Does anyone else use them?

Anglaise1 · 27/02/2016 13:20

Sorry about your race blackcat
Halle hope your long run went well today. Just 10 miles to add from the last couple of days, little 15km race tomorrow morning, it will be cold and sunny but there is a freezing wind too so not expecting much in terms of time. It is the preparation race for the marathon in 2 weeks.
My jelly babies arrived today, thanks so much FiftyFlowers Star! I was nearly out of stock so will have plenty to take with me to Barcelona. They really are my favourite running fuel. Jelly beans are too difficult to eat when running.

12 from me from a DNF this morning. Sprained ankle at 17k. Managed to hobble 2k to the next checkpoint. Cried with disappointment (dignified!!). Was going so well, probably strongest I've felt all season and certainly best this year. Arrggghhhh. Good news is that the damage doesn't look too bad. Should be good for the 50k in 2 weeks.

1038.22

Anglaise1 · 28/02/2016 13:18

Oh now Keyser I'm so sorry about your ankle Sad take it easy and you'll be fine for your 50k I'm sure. What a pain.
Did my 15k race this morning, 1h10m, 2nd in my category and 13th woman overall out of the 180 running so not too bad. Was comfortable throughout at ave of just under 13kph and for the marathon time I want I need 12k/h so fingers crossed I'll manage it.
Adding race plus dog runs!
