Anglaise, I get the impression that it's reduced blood flow/jarring for extended periods (ie several hours) which might lead to damage and inflammation.
I'm not sure diet would make much difference.

But over shorter periods where the gut reacts to reduced blood flow by ejecting it's contents then it seems reasonable to suppose that the smaller the volume of food in your intestine the less likely it is to cause irritation (?)

I remember that when I first started running I felt as if my stomach had gone into shock and I found it hard to eat my normal amount of food

FiftyNineOhEight · 10/02/2016 19:37

I think I forgot to mention that I got a place in the Royal Parks half marathon. 58 quid Shock but it was on my bucket list.

Enjoy FiftyNineOhEight!

4 from me this morning and it was light when we finished!!!!!! Grin 353.28

Chilly day, damp down in town & snowy up in the woods. Nice hilly run, felt a bit stronger today, maybe training does work! Another steady run planned for tomorrow, then will need to find a 9 mile route for early Sunday morning where my mum lives as heading down to Glasgow this weekend. Dd2 is in a team for the National Relay Champs - indoors, hurray!- and the heats are this Saturday. Fingers crossed, if they get to the semis it will be during next week's international Grand Prix so they're all v excited. They did well in the team competition last week so fingers crossed for a repeat, I want to meet Mo Farah!

We had a heavy frost this morning emummy, I need to find a 12 mile route on our holiday but I perhaps will stick to laps!

lastqueenofscotland · 11/02/2016 12:05

Heavy frost here as well.

Been for one run this morning going to try and cram a second in as well later, as I won't be running till Sunday when I've got a 10k race

lastqueenofscotland · 11/02/2016 20:58

10.2 all in from me.

MyBlackCat · 11/02/2016 21:45

Rock hard lumpy ground this morning in the frost but lovely run 382

emummy · 12/02/2016 12:42

-2, hard ground and snowing in the woods this morning! Didn't fall, dog, who is a black lab, was nearly white by the end.

Anglaise1 · 12/02/2016 14:48

16.5 dog running miles with a friend to add from the last 2 days. 3 hour long run tomorrow, after that only one left then tapering will start, phew!
Weather forecast sadly crap for tomorrow's run.

Adding 8.4 from a Valentines Day race this morning to make 412.8

Been really sick for a week or so with a crappy cough and cold, and probably shouldn't have raced as although it was short, there were 900m of climbing, and on the last climb I was really struggling to breathe. Was a pairs race though so was with my lovely running partner and we got round. Ended up third in the ladies pairs which was a nice surprise too (prize tbc). I persuaded my sister to do it too and now she wants to kill me as I didn't tell her how tough the course was (to be fair, I forgot about one massive hill).

Anglaise1 · 13/02/2016 13:09

Well done on your race Keyser. I guess it's easy to forget about hills when you live in HK, hopefully your sister will forgive you!
20 wet and windy miles in 3:08:10 to add from the long run this morning. Didn't get to the speed I should have on the way back but then I was running uphill and into the wind, at least that's my excuse!
432.8

cinnamongreyhound · 13/02/2016 17:43

Well done KeyserSophie! Third is great!

That's impressive Anglaise1 even if it was slower than you wanted.

I did parkrun at Barnstaple today and I think if that was my local I would not be there every week, so many puddles and mud I hate wet feet! Nice park to run around though. 436.3

MyBlackCat · 13/02/2016 18:48

12.2 today, parkrun followed by the run home. Two weeks until my 15 mile race/run and felt I could have gone the extra miles if required Grin

emummy · 14/02/2016 10:18

Visiting dm so nice long run round former home town; it's changed a lot so I had no idea where I was, just ran randomly which was unite nice. -2, bright sunshine and some very icy paths, good fun

emummy · 14/02/2016 10:18

Quite nice not unite!

lastqueenofscotland · 14/02/2016 17:14

6.2m to add for my 10k. Was a fair way off pb - it was hilly, but i really enjoyed myself. definitely do that one again next year.

463.7

Anglaise1 · 14/02/2016 19:09

LastQueen congrats on your 10k the important thing is that you enjoyed it and you want to do the race again. 10.5 miles from the club session today, warm up run then tempo.
474.2

HalleLouja · 14/02/2016 20:20

Fifty see you at RPHM I too have a place.

11 miles today plus parkrun yesterday and 8 during the week makes 22.1 so that's 496.3. The run today was with some running club friends and my longest training run ever.

FiftyNineOhEight · 15/02/2016 12:08

Excellent Halle congratulations on your place. Was it for the ballot, or are you running for a charity?

Well done Keyser on your place, and great long run Anglaise. Good to see that people are enjoying their running BlackCat and LastQueen.

3.15 parkrun miles plus a 7.66 slog around the country park yesterday - using those as strength miles, not speed Smile. The park was lovely in the late afternoon sunshine, the lake as flat as a pancake with the sun's reflection. So nice not to have the horrible wind of the last few weeks.

507.11???

Fifty I got a ballot place. You?

cinnamongreyhound · 15/02/2016 13:13

3 miles from me today, managed to find somewhere off the road and not farmland but it was not the route for a long run and I'm not sure I'll find one while I'm away Sad 510.11

suzannecaravaggio · 15/02/2016 18:32

what a pain for you Cinnamon :(

32 miles from me over the last 3 runs
