Lovely photos of your doggies Cinners. They are definitely lower maintenance than mine! emummy I hope you have warmed up now. I won't complain about the 6°c and hailstorm that I ran in today. No ice or snow here - snow is forecast for Monday but we never get much and it never hangs around long.
Thanks for the info on Strava Keyser and Black cat. I don't think I'll be upgrading to premium, it sounds too time consuming and there aren't many good looking male joggers around here to stalk, I guess it is more interesting in a city!
10.6 miles today.

lastqueenofscotland · 14/01/2016 21:08

4.8 from me. Nice and steady, saving the legs for racing this weekend. 631.55

runtothehills · 14/01/2016 22:30

All your dogs sound easier maintenance than mine, working cocker, gets clarted with mud, and in the snow develops "snowballs" around his feet and balls Grin Usually chuck him in the river, but with the icy conditions the hose is the best option!

emummy is that photo on the Deeside way, looks awful! Tried one of my usual routes on Tuesday as it was devastated too, lots of rocks and debris Sad

Adding 6 from Tuesday, and 4 from tonight's headtorch handicap up local hill, very icy and had to go back up a second time to help carry another club member off who had gone over her ankle. 641.55

Do need to start increasing my milage again as its tailed off, but the snow is calling this weekend so I think it'll be the skis that take precedence Grin

emummy · 15/01/2016 10:50

Yes runto was deeside way. Will be avoiding it for a wee while. Hope you get good snow this weekend for skiing. Have just entered Glen Livet 10k, very happy!

cinnamongreyhound · 15/01/2016 11:02

We had a dusting really emummy followed by a frost so it was a bit slippy on the path bit but mostly foresty paths so ok this morning. Coldest run for a while though!

Anglaise1 · 15/01/2016 11:23

We had an unexpected little snowfall last night, lots of ice and black ice around this morning with many road accidents. Running was a bit tricky too.
Runto I bet that skiing is a great cross training exercise to do.
9.45 cold, icy and wet miles with my marathon friend, warm up jog followed by intervals from 300m - 500m.

Thank you for all the info on Strava - I will hold off on the premium I think. I am guessing that the record button on the app is what I need to use to record segments?

No snow here (boo), quite a few icy pavements and puddles though.

emummy I can picture your dog sliding on its bum - must have been quite funny. But running over ice is always tricky.

runtothehills I'm very jealous about the skiing!!

Managed my long run this morning with 2 x compeed and tape on my left foot. I used my new trail shoes for the first time and went through the woods. On the plus side, my feet were ok as they don't press on the same places as my trainers. It was ridiculously muddy in places and at one point I just had to walk up the hill because the mud was so thick. I downloaded some podcasts and was so distracted listening to Kermode and Mayo talking about star wars that I totally forgot I needed to turn back at 8 miles. It was 11 by the time I realised and then I ended up doing 17.83 miles instead of the planned 16. Very cold but beautifully sunny.

Sirzy · 15/01/2016 19:50

Very icy here, have a treadmill arriving tomorrow hopefully though to keep me on track.

Resisting the temptation to buy another pair of running shoes. There is something rather addictive about running shoes!

Anglaise1 · 16/01/2016 11:09

16.25 long run marathon training, ran stronger and faster than during the 2 previous Saturday long runs, despite the interval training yesterday. Cold but sunny, very pleasant except for the inevitable PITA that I now have!
Ran first hour and half with new DP and dog and then did the rest alone.
Louey I often use the Mayo and Kermode download to get me through long runs too!

No snow here but plenty of rain- boo! Managed to get our during a break in the downpours to do 14 miles of trail with a bunch of friends which was lovely.

Sirzy I can never resist

6.2 from me racing today. Second fastest ever 10k but I had a time in mind that I didn't get and I'm gutted Sad it was a 4 lap course and I was so bored by the 3rd lap I found it hard to keep going.

Racing every weekend in feb as a bit of a personal challenge so maybe that will speed me up!

Crossposted with lastqueen and had a bold fail so new total is

709.28

Lastqueen bad luck on missing your target. I hate lap races and avoid them like the plague. Loops or linear only for me. Wont even do "out and backs".

lastqueenofscotland · 16/01/2016 12:12

It was heading out fr the third I had a really slow mile as I was just a bit oh for the love of god two more. Got a loop soon that's meant to be fast. So fingers crossed!

emummy · 16/01/2016 13:38

Went to dd2's athletics training today to support her as she is the youngest ther and gets a bit intimidated. So ended up doing hill repeats up frosty hill, with lots fit youngsters sprinting ahead while I puffed and panted at the back!

Sirzy · 16/01/2016 15:20

3 mile treadmill run today 714.78 I also discovered that bounts recognised manually entered runs from runkeeper ehich is good!

custardcreamdreams · 16/01/2016 16:21

You have beautiful dogs cinnamon. Ddog who sadly had to be pts two years ago was a nightmare for keeping clean. Some sort of lab mixture with long hair that got filthy within two minutes and took forever to dry. Would dearly love to get another dog but have noticed ds's asthma is far better without all the hair and dust about the house and it wouldn't be fair on him.

Oh what sort of treadmill did you get Sirzy? I'm contemplating one after the past few days not being able to get out between lack of babysitters and non-shifting ice. Will keep an eye on gumtree over the next couple of months once peoples New Years resolutions go to the wall Grin

Sorry you missed your target lastqueen Laps do sound like hard going. The hm I've signed up for is an out and back but hoping it's ok as it's along a scenic coastal route and have heard nothing but good reports about it.

Finally a 7 to add. Only saw one other ejiet out like myself, on the road to avoid the thick ice :) Have been climbing the walls unable to get out the last few days.

lastqueenofscotland · 16/01/2016 17:17

Just got my chip time and it was slower than I thought Angry
I'm annoyed at myself as I did vvv little between Xmas and new year and then tried to play catchup the last two weeks and it didn't work

cinnamongreyhound · 16/01/2016 18:02

A short haired pointy hound would be perfect custardcreamdreams Wink dh is allergic to dogs and asthmatic but he has very few problems with them.

Well that was an experience, the dogs didn't really get the staggered start and took a while to get going then tried to take a wrong turn! It was VERY technical, lots of twists and turns, ups and downs and we had to jump two streams and two trees! Good fun but be muddy which little dog hated and was constantly trying to find a way round instead of through and getting in big dogs way and the bits out of the woods were churned up but frozen solid so a bit uncomfortable to run on. Plus it was actually an extra k than was advertised. I think with more of those kind of runs the dogs would improve but with travel there and back I was out for 4 hours which isn't popular in my house! 725.48

cinnamongreyhound · 16/01/2016 18:07

Sorry you're cross with yourself lastqueenofscotland, good that you have other races to improve on today's though.

Sorry your good run was ruined by a PITA Anglaise1, nice that you're running with your dp.

MyBlackCat · 16/01/2016 19:58

3.1 PB parkrun miles from me - big shock but very pleased with myself. Well done to everyone who ran today, it was freeeezing Shock

cinnamongreyhound · 17/01/2016 13:06

9 miles from me this morning, -4C when I started, 0C when I finished. Lovely run, lost of icey puddles, bit of snow still left from Thursday and bright blue skies. 737.58

emummy · 17/01/2016 13:09

What a beautiful day! Ran up large hill in beautiful sunshine. Managed not to fall over on all the ice and dog kept her feet this time! Finding hills a bit difficult just now, have been avoiding them a little but need to get back in to them now before April's trail race, so today was a bit of a struggle but I made it. Will need to go farther next time, was a bit short of time today.

FiftyNineOhEight · 17/01/2016 16:51

What a shame lastqueen, hope you are feeling better now.

Well done on your PB BlackCat

Marathon training sounds like it is going well Anglaise

cinners your doggy race sounds fun, and as you say, the more you do, the better they will become used to it all.

Waves to everyone else Smile

My running has consisted of:

3.1 speedy (by my recent standards) parkrun
4.5 slippy slidey muddy miles in our local country park. Bumped into DH who was out for a walk so stopped for a natter and reset my Garmin.
3.2 road miles. I was cramping up quite badly in the calves after all my muddy work.

Not as far as I wanted, but better than nothing Smile

Fifty any running in the mud is hard work, so even if the mileage is less the effort is huge. At the county cross country event last Sunday the runners were calf deep in mud in places. Not easy at all.
11 miles from today, club session. The cold weather has made my skin dry and I have rashes from wearing tights. PITA very present and body is generally feeling a little 'cassé' as the French say (broken). Will try and have a day off tomorrow, hopefully it will snow and give me an excuse not to put on my trainers!
