Ugh cinnamon- poor you. Hope you have a better week this week.

7.5 tonight to make 736.8. Bit of a last minute arrangement and to be honest i forgot how time consuming that route is (2 hrs as 800m elevation and some scrambling) or I probably wouldn't have gone, but glad I did in retrospect. Went with a guy from work and was nice to have some company as have been mainly training on my own recently, which gets a bit dull.

Anglaise1 · 16/11/2015 18:10

Congratulations Emummy and Runtothehills on your hill race, it sounds bloody hard and 8th place is excellent Run.
Purple knocking 6mins off your PB for a 10k is fantastic, well done, you must be so thrilled!
Cinners I hope you have a better week this week than last.
Not much mileage, just 14.4 to add for the weekend because I was away in Toulouse, but we did a lot of walking.

Exactly 5 miles from me - I got totally lost in rapidly fading light, note to self don't try and run a new route if you leave the house at 4:15pm, it was totally disorientating, I had no idea which direction to head when I lost the footpath signs Shock

756.2

cinnamongreyhound · 16/11/2015 21:53

Thank you all, had a much better albeit shorter run with my canicross club tonight. 724.3

cinnamongreyhound · 16/11/2015 21:55

Bleurgh, daft iPad didn't refresh, despite me refreshing the page! 759.4

KeyserSophie · 17/11/2015 06:29

Adding 4.8 broken up into 2 runs- to the gym and back to make 764.2 The way back was a struggle after the squat rack but I'm enjoying getting back into strength work after neglecting it for a few months - making me think I might dial it back a bit after Race to the Stones next year. The problem is that I'm a better climber than a runner, so I'm only really competitive over the long, really hilly races, but the training is such a massive commitment.

Loueytb3 · 17/11/2015 14:20

Apologies for long absence but after coming back from holiday, I seem to be lurching from one domestic crisis to another which is taking up all my free time. I have no chance of catching up at the moment, but wanted to post (very belatedly) the rest of my October mileage and that for November so far.

October - 10.33 miles by the sea Smile
November - 46.04 so far

Mileage is going back up again post-marathon. Training for the next marathon starts in a month's time Shock Not liking this weather at the moment, I need a new running jacket as mine is only showerproof and it sticks to me in anything resembling a heavy shower.

Hello to all the newcomers!

I will post the updated monthly stats in a second.

Just a little 1.6 treadmill to add, see how the leg would hold up. Got slightly niggly at the end. Seems ok now but I'll soon find out tomorrow how it fared. What gradient are you meant to set a treadmill for? Set it for 5 but felt easy. First time using one, God it was boring compared to being outside.

Boo, my friend has cancelled due to weather fear and the club headtorch run is also cancelled for the same reasons Sad

Here is some Chocolate just because I've only just discovered it Wink

suzannecaravaggio · 17/11/2015 18:25

weather fear is understandable Cinnamon, it is pretty wild out round my way, I went out early afternoon before things got too bad and found it challenging.
Mind you I was running along the seafront and it's always a bit wilder there.

12 miles from me

suzannecaravaggio · 17/11/2015 18:28

Louey I agree a good waterproof makes a massive difference, I the womens version of this and I think it's pretty good
jacket

cinnamongreyhound · 17/11/2015 18:29

We do have a yellow weather warning 50-60mph winds with 70mph gusts according to the bbc some trees will fall and we do live in a forest!

HalleLouja · 17/11/2015 19:42

Got all ready to go running but its properly blowing a gale. Am all dressed in my running gear too. Sad

Anglaise1 · 17/11/2015 20:28

Keyser my friend who did the Diagonale des Fous in the Réunion Island said that all the training she did didn't really help with the race (10kms of ascent). If you want to race hills and mountains, you need to train on them and we can't do that easily here in Brittany where it is flat. You have a big advantage (as do Run and Family) for hill races!
12.5 miles from today, dog running and club session with beers after. There are so many birthdays in November that I won't be able to 'payer mon pot' before January. Weather not nearly as windy here as in the UK apparently!

runtothehills · 17/11/2015 21:10

Keyser you need to come back to the UK and do some good fell/hill races, fast climbing and descending skills but not ultra distance training Grin. Anglaise my problem is speed on the flat, I was in 6th (female) position on Sat till the long flat then got overtaken by a pile of runners, caught a few back on the last hill, but flat/tarmac always seems to be my weakness.

Nursing a bit of a cold/ ITB flare up since Sat night, but managed a couple of gentle 4 milers yesterday and today thanks to the power of Ibuprofen and Rocktape!

Wind does add a bit of resistance training, but I think those speeds cinnamon halle are a bit excessive!

Louey hope all is ok Flowers is it VLM that you're training for, can't remember if it was you who got a place!

lastqueenofscotland · 17/11/2015 21:29

4 from me. Still I'll but couldn't face another day off.

Purpletoes · 17/11/2015 22:36

4.35 from me. Did club run tonight. It was very windy and post race I went down a group so was a nice gentle pace. I did skip the run back to club as we just came to close to my house to resist. The wind tonight was just as bad as Sunday. I have no idea how I managed my time! Smile

Anglaise1 · 18/11/2015 18:30

Lovely long run with the dog this morning, sunny and not too cold. A cheap birthday present to myself and as a lot of food and drink will be consumed at the weekend some advance mitigation was required! Pleased to say that hitting 50 hasn't negatively impacted my running. 11.4 miles

4.1 from me this evening. Short and a wee bit faster than usual pace.

855.95

MyBlackCat · 18/11/2015 19:28

Just over three miles - intervals on the treadmill, felt a bit sick at the end, hoping to do a long run tomorrow as off work Smile

859

lastqueenofscotland · 18/11/2015 20:33

5.44 from me. Still a bit ill so off pace but of rather be running that cooped up indoors

864.44

Loueytb3 · 19/11/2015 15:25

It's 3pm and its nearly pitch black outside – very depressing!

4.43 intervals on treadmill, boring but I need to do some speed work.

Anglaise - Happy 50th birthday (if I've read your post right)! Hope you have a fantastic party and lots of Cake and Wine Grin

Thank you for the Flowers runtothehills – I'm fine, honestly. Mostly complications to do with having a child with SN and the need for our local special needs transport dept to cut costs which is causing much stress and angst amongst many parents. Fortunately I know someone on the inside who has had words with the relevant person and hopefully we will still be getting transport for DS1. Otherwise I will be taking legal proceedings I think. I'm doing Brighton. Still have a 0% success rate in ballots. I think a couple of people got into VLM.

Suzanne – thanks for the link. Funnily enough my existing jacket is a montane and I have been very happy with it, it is too big though now. And I would like one with more reflective stuff on it. I will have a look at that one.

Lastqueen – hope you feel better soon.

MyBlackCat · 19/11/2015 18:00

Today's long run ended up a little bit longer and I'm blaming poor public footpath signage Wink totally not my sense of direction. Just over 11.5 miles Grin

880.4

MrsHarveySpecter · 19/11/2015 19:39

I'm doing the VLM. I didn't enter the ballot as I knew my employer would match fundraising and I'd have a good chance of raising £2k. I've raised about £350 (£700 with my employer's matching schem) so far so hopefully it will pick
