Hi all.

Back from rather wet few days on the West Coast. Managed 2 runs a 6 miles and a 7 miles, both trail and through some stunning locations. The first got dropped off at one point and ran back to our hostel, fortunately had the wind behind me. The second was a circuit and no matter which way I went it seemed to be into the wind which was pretty bad on Thursday in NW Scotland.

Today did a very wet 9 miles with a friend and then was sweeper for a local (trail and muddy) 10k so 15 in total. DH did the 10k, his first, in 55 mins I was very impressed!!

Well done on the night run emummy, Hill of Fare would have been a great training for the Illuminator!

Keyser that looks nothing short of epic!!!

6 + 7 + 15 + 1035.19 = 1063.19

Sorelip · 25/10/2015 07:19

9.6 from this week.

1072.79

emummy · 25/10/2015 11:41

Nice easy run in the woods. Easier path than last week but still 400m of elevation.

My race came round!

DP managed to cme and watch which meant a lot as he is super busy work wise and had to travel tonight, but took the time, enjoyed every second.

I'd hoped for anything under 1hr 40 (10 mile race) did it in 1 30 on the dot, 9 min miles round the whole way like clockwork and didn't feel fast. Which is good to know there is more in the tank. I'm quite a fast 10k runner but wasn't sure of what to expect here, so delighted with that time. When i go for long runs (anything 8+ they are usually real plods) so vvv happy.

On a runners high and a half!!

adding 10 of my proudest miles

1094.79

emummy · 25/10/2015 17:35

Well done lastqueen, great result! Enjoy that high!

MyBlackCat · 25/10/2015 18:16

Very impressive lastqueen - you are all very inspiring on this thread - I'm thinking of entering a 15 mile trail race in February, longest run is a hm and that was road so it will be a challenge - how much on road vs trail should the training be?

4.8 miles in pouring rain from me - at least it was 24 degrees so I wasn't cold Smile

FiftyNineOhEight · 26/10/2015 09:09

Well done lastqueen fantastic time!

3.1 parkrun miles from me Smile

Maybe I should name change to StillResting Grin

Sorelip · 26/10/2015 14:15

Nice one lastqueen

5 slow hard miles from me this morning. It took forever!

great running weather, albeit a tad too windy

Anglaise1 · 26/10/2015 18:08

I love your dog photos Cinnamon how on earth do you get them to keep the lamps on their heads - my BorderCollie would chew one off in no time.
Well done on your 10 miles Last
MyBlackCat my coach says that anyone who can run road races well can do trails but I totally disagree with him. I run with quite a few people who really hate trails. Trails are often technical, and you have to be adept at looking at the ground as well as in front to avoid tripping over which some people have a real problem with. And of course some people don't like getting their trainers muddy and wet (or the rest of their body for that matter) which is normally a prerequisite of trails. Because your race is in February when the ground will be soft and muddy, I'd definitely do some training on them and not just roads.
The Rennes marathon went really well, we started at 5.30am and worked through to 11am chasing runners who wanted to either warm up or pee off the car park of a garden shop so I did a little running on Sunday morning after all. The coach stood us all some bubbly and nibbles at 11am Shock after we'd finished (every meeting/event finishes with a drink in France).
14 miles from today's and Saturday's run.

I hate trails I really can't do them, I need concrete!

5.2 steady miles

Purpletoes · 27/10/2015 06:48

lastqueen well done in your race. Sounds amazing.

5.5 from me on Sunday. Did my first cross country race since school. Unfortunately I got stuck in traffic so was rushing to start line and left trail shoes in buggy with oh so ended up running it in road shoes! Blush but wasn't too bad. Thankfully hasn't been a lot of rain down here so only a few muddy slippy bits. Was slow on slippy downhills. My path was crossed by running deer twice as well. The weather was beautiful and I loved it. It was in a local nt park.

Although yesterday my legs could really feel it and the hill work that was in it.
spent post race afternoon power washing the buggy!

3.2 from me this evening. Today's planned run in the woods fell victim to a crazy day, so had nice brisk road run this evening instead.

custardcreamdreams · 27/10/2015 19:35

Wow Keyser, that is some run you are doing. Hope it goes well for you and the ankle holds up!

Brilliant result lastqueen, well done.

I manage to trip over bits of pavement so trails would be out for me.

Haven't been able to get out as kettlebells completely destroyed me on Saturday. Every muscle in my body was aching for days, even had problems sitting down on the toilet Grin. I'll be back again on Saturday though to give it another whirl.

10 from today. Hip a bit niggly, kept having to stop and stretch it out. May hoke out my band and do the exercises I'm meant to do for it. Last time I think I'll be able to run this week with half term and Halloween events with the dc.

custardcreamdreams · 27/10/2015 19:37

Sorry don't know what I was thinking there 1157.58

Sorelip · 27/10/2015 20:04

5.15 miles from me.

1162.73

Anglaise1 · 27/10/2015 21:33

8.75 miles, dog running and little club session. We have started core body strength exercising on Tuesday evenings until January in preparation for the cross country season, so less running.
Purple - cross country is intense and hard, make sure you take it easy for a few days and well done! Not my favourite race as I'm old and it is usually younger runners who do best at cross country here in France as they are short and fast races.

A short 3 miler from me tonight

1174.48

Purpletoes · 27/10/2015 23:20

5.5 today with club run. It was a slow and easy one with only one hill. The hill was when I felt my muscles fro Sunday as today in the house they seemed OK. That's me for a few days now.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/10/2015 05:16

Well done lastqueenofscotland, fab time!

I personally always run trail MyBlackCat, much more interesting. It's tougher to do but easier on the joints so I'm told.

You've done a parkrun that's not resting FiftyNineOhEight Wink

The are just collars Anglaise1, the reflective bit just flared up when the flash hit them as I took the photo, I don't think they'd be best pleased with something on their heads either! Glad you had fun volunteering Grin

I ran Monday with the canicross club but not last night as usual as we went to see spectre, very good but dh felt it wasn't violent enough to get its 12A rating! 1184

Anglaise1 · 28/10/2015 13:46

17 miles from me this morning, ran the longer trail race route that my club is hosting on 8th November with a couple of club friends. The club wanted the route on a satellite map so my Garmin was required. Nice trail and lovely weather.
Cinnamon the certification of films and TV in France is much more relaxed than in the UK, Spectre is for everyone so I can take DS (age 8). Although two and a half hours might be too long for him it is for me. 50 shades of Grey was an over 12 certificate so DD (then 13) went to watch it with her friends Shock

12A means you can take children but anyone under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. I would take my boys to see it, must less horrible than the previous Daniel Craig bond films Grin

MyBlackCat · 28/10/2015 17:32

4.4 miles from me, no longer in the warm sunshine but not cold. After over coming the foot problem, my Achilles is now sore Sad currently icing it, hopefully nothing serious

lastqueenofscotland · 28/10/2015 19:16

Missed running club yesterday for crap reasons- talked myself out of a hill session-which in feeling guilty about but went and did a fast 4.7 tonight to make up for it. 1210.1

cinnamongreyhound · 29/10/2015 07:55

Lovely morning run today, it was almost light enough to not need out head torches at all! That's it for me for October, hoping to run Sunday but I'm RD on Saturday at parkrun so won't run then. 1214.1
