Glad you r run was lovely cinnamon, mine was wet wet wet! Got absolutely soaked running up steep wee hill, nearly blown over at the top, then even wetter and muddier through the woods. Ddog & I were sodden by the end. She got a vigorous towel rub, I had a blissful hot shower!

8.6 miles with the dog. Intended to go for interval session but it is 22kms away and I'll be doing them on Sunday so didn't bother. Still a bit tired from yesterday's long run. The bottom of my trainers are constantly filled with sweet chestnuts, acorns which seem to be prolific in quantity this year on the footpaths.

Did club hill pyramid session last night. Was in a bit of a funk do it helped clear my head. Although legs tired now but may not get out again till after the weekend as DH is doing parkrun this week and we have a busy weekend.

First run in the rain this morning- very enjoyable! Only ran 2 miles today and 2 miles on Tuesday.

Am finding my knees ache like mad - do you experienced runners think that it is a technique thing (I think I run on the balls of my feet) or a muscle thing (my husband mentioned something about an IC or IT band...)? Or maybe it's just my body not being used to it....

1236.4

suzannecaravaggio · 30/10/2015 09:07

Hard to say
Many of the ache's and pains seem to be part of an adjustment process

lastqueenofscotland · 30/10/2015 09:39

3.3 from me yesterday. Will go for 12-14 tomorrow but a bit disappointed with Octobers milage (on my part not you lovely lot). Need to knuckle down a bit as of next month to get the marathon times I want!

KeyserSophie · 30/10/2015 10:43

I'm now officially bricking it. In case anyone's interested, this is the google earth preview. I expect to be in the pain cave for many hours. My only consolation is that i don't have to go trick or treating with the DC.

Anglaise1 · 30/10/2015 12:40

Wow Keyser that looks impressively tough. I'm sure you will be fine! Just keep well hydrated you know that anywy. My friend Laurence completed the Diagonale des Fous last weekend, 170kms 11kms ascent, but it took her 58 hours, 3 nights and 2 days. At least yours will be over in a day (or night!). Merde (good luck)
11.3 mile run this morning with the dog. He lost his collar then ate the other half of the quiche that was left from last night so he is officially in the doghouse.

Good luck keyser! Think I'd rather go trick or treating!

Wee night run up hill in forest, very dark, amazing golden moon, very slow but never mind.

runtothehills · 31/10/2015 09:40

Good luck Keyser that loop about half way looks a bit mean. Think I'd enjoy the first bit but the return journey looks a lot flatter and thats where I think I'd fall back. Enjoy the pain cave!!

myblack I think the best way to learn trail runs is to run trails, local park/forest tracks etc.

30 miles since last Saturday. 15 of which were last night doing night recce of race in 2 weeks. Headtorch batteries died at about 10 miles and I seemed to break the connections when I tried to replace them so had to rely on running in my friends light and using my phone light for the last 5 miles!! Last bit is very muddy (remember change of clothes emummy!) ended up with it all the way up past my knees. Got some strange looks from the guys coming out of the pub near the end Smile

lastqueenofscotland · 31/10/2015 11:15

11.4 to round off the month from me. With the exception of my race I've not been that happy with October but only I can do anything about that.

Mine and hills

1294.3

emummy · 31/10/2015 13:24

Will bear that in mind runtothehills! Hope you get the head torch sorted.

Deliaskis · 31/10/2015 14:30

Hi all,

Not been on and logged miles for a while as I've lost my mojo a bit, been ill for about 3 weeks, horrid weather etc. but I did 5.5 this morning and 3.2 on Monday, that's 8.7, added to 1294.3 is 1303.00 I think?

I need a bit of advice though. I was doing OK in the summer, dead chuffed with my local hilly 10k at end of August, a few in between then and another local 5k end of September, when I was really pleased with my time. Then since then I've literally run maybe once, and then two runs this week. I'm registered to do a 10k next Saturday, and I'm not sure whether to do it or not. My 5k on Monday felt good and easy, but 8.6k this morning felt horrid and sludgy, and took me ages to recover once home. I'm going to have limited opportunity to run in the week now it's dark and DH is away two evenings.

So wondering if it's a good idea to do the 10k or not. I'm erring towards doing it, as my feeling is what's the worst that could happen? It's a completely flat course, so an easy one, as these things go, but still, I've not run 10k a lot, only a handful of times, and am worried about looking stooopid if I end up having to walk or whatever.

WWYD?

MyBlackCat · 31/10/2015 15:39

3.1 Parkrun miles from me, my 25th run. I'd say run the 10k just take it steady.

1306.1

lastqueenofscotland · 31/10/2015 18:55

Is run the 10 but go steady!

What's everyone target milage for November?
I have been disappointed with Octobers miles but aiming for 150 miles in November.

Anglaise1 · 31/10/2015 19:33

Delia I'd do the 10k as it will give you a benchmark.
I've run too many miles, quantity not necessarily quality! I'll find out at the end of November when I run a 10k I run every year.
6.2 to add for October, run this morning with new DP and dog.
1312.3

suzannecaravaggio · 31/10/2015 20:16

23 from me over the last 2 runs
1335.3

my mileage for oct was 176, down a bit from the previous 2 months, I think I might make it to 200 for Nov

FiftyNineOhEight · 31/10/2015 20:18

Beardy hell Keyser, impressively scary!

3.1 parkrun miles from me. I have to run more in November, I'm supposed to do a HM the first weekend in December Shock. I ran just under 30 miles this month Shock Shock. Have to get back into the groove.

lastqueen I'm not after quite as many miles as you, but will aim for 100 in November Smile

1315.4

FiftyNineOhEight · 31/10/2015 20:20

That should have said blardy hell, but hey, maybe hell is full of beardy people Smile.

suzannecaravaggio · 31/10/2015 20:29

:o @ beardy hell

custardcreamdreams · 31/10/2015 21:20

Grin Fifty

Oh my keyser, that looks really tough. I'm really impressed.

I would do it too Delia. Can you check online what the timings were last year? I'll admit that's what I always do. Even if it's not a time you were hoping for, it makes it easier to beat next time.

I was only 72 last month but that's around my usual. I'll aim for 80 as I'm wanting to keep up kettlebells. Have to be realistic time wise as I'm a single parent, hard to fit everything in sometimes.

4.7 today, just recovered from a viral thingy I've had most of the week. Back into the shorts and vest again Hmm

1320.1

Deliaskis · 31/10/2015 22:59

Ok, you're talking me into it. I think I was leaning that way anyway but you've helped confirm that I can just give it a go and go slow. I looked at last year's timings and the bottom 10% look they were slower than me anyway, even at my worst, so I'm not going to be last Smile . Maybe it will the boost I need to get back into it a bit more. Just ordered myself a couple of bits and bob's for dark evening running, lights and reflective bits etc.

familygermsareok · 31/10/2015 23:12

Hi everyone, just nipping in to the end of Oct to add on my grand total of 8 miles over four runs over the last week Smile
Have been diligently doing Achilles exercises and physio gave me the ok to run short and slow up to 2 miles alternate days for now. Getting there very slowly but will all be worth it in the end.
And on the positive side I have really started to enjoy cycling , and I am realising that short runs are still worth doing. Previously I kinda felt that it wasn't really worth going out for less than half an hour.

Have missed loads on thread, meant to keep up but lost the habit of coming on.

Keyser that looks truly awesome Shock
Delia I would also do the 10k, just take it easy and enjoy the running without worrying about a time.

1328.1

familygermsareok · 31/10/2015 23:15

Oops, X post, glad you going to go for it Delia. Good luck and enjoy Smile

McPie · 01/11/2015 00:24

Ooooh can I join you all? I have just completed the Ron Hill/Running bug #runeveryday challenge and logged 162.7 miles this month, I was glad to have the incentive of free kit to keep me going as I only started back running at the start of August after a 10 month break due to a majorly negative running buddy issue! Now I run when, where and how fast I want (without being abandoned in strange areas!) and I'm bloody well enjoying myself (as well as the 5lb drop on the scales Grin )
