3.9 treadmill interval miles - it's been a few weeks since I've done them, I strangely enjoyed it Grin

phlebas welcome back, sorry you had problems on another thread. I only post here and on the parkrun thread these days. Well done on your HM time!

Still waiting for the official result so I can name change Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 12/10/2015 22:24

Well done emummy fantastic running!

I'm sorry you felt like that phlebasconsidered, I'm sure this thread will never make you feel bullied so keep posting here and sod the rest!

Fantabulous OhOneOhTwoOhThree, not sure you can change your nn it just won't have the same ring Grin. I was better but life got in the way of running at the weekend Sad

5 canicross miles from me today 477.61

emummy · 13/10/2015 09:39

5 early morning miles up hill, into the mist again but slightly lighter rain. Feet sodden again, am going to get waterproof socks asap!

runtothehills · 13/10/2015 19:40

Phleb welcome back, this thread will always be here to welcome you Flowers and excellent HM well done Star
mycat I'm useless at pacing, think thats why I stay to hills. Go up as fast as you can without having a heart attack and run down as fast as you can without falling over, thats my pacing strategy Grin
emummy fantastic runs, you're going to be more than prepared. It's not difficult to get hooked by the trails/hills especially when there's so many lovely ones around here Smile. Wet shoes are the norm though, I have little gaiter thingys, they don't stop the water getting in but stop all the bits of stones and heather.

I'm checking in with 48 miles!!! 30 from the weekend when I did an epic 2 day trip into the Cairngorms with a friend, running as much as possible, though difficult with camping stuff on back (memories of Mountain Marathon flooding back, though at least no snow). Took in 6 Munros (over 3000ft peaks in Scotland) and a stunning exposed scramble on the way. Then today did an 18 mile route up another local Munro, legs are exhausted, so is my dog who is now flat out on the sofa. Back to work tomorrow for a day off!

PS where is Keyser ????? hope you're ok x

Anglaise1 · 13/10/2015 19:43

Congrats on your PB Ohoneohtwo or should that be fivenine something now?? Great time for your HM Phlebas well done and sorry about the bullying, this thread is nice, people are too busy running here to be nasty. I rarely post elsewhere.
Still is your friend feeling better now?
emummy your run sounds fab, well done for doing it on your own. I'm very jealous of your hills even if they are wet and cold!
23.2 miles to add from this weekend's running plus the club intervals tonight. Had a lovely weekend away in western Brittany, lots of exploring, walking and a 10 mile run on Sunday morning with new Monsieur. He kept up with me pretty well, except going up hills Grin and he reads maps pretty well so we didn't get lost. So nice to be with someone who shares the same interests!

KeyserSophie · 14/10/2015 02:44

Hi Guys. Sorry for absence. It's been so long that I had to go back through Strava and the thread to figure out where I left off. Adding a cumulative 15 to the total for this month to make 568.81.

Anglaise I didnt do the 23k race in the end. There was a typhoon/thunderstorm and whilst they didnt cancel, only about 50% of the entrants started and less than 30% finished. Lots of controversy about whether it should have been cancelled, due to risk of lightning strikes, flash floods and massive gusts on the peaks (people reported being lifted off their feet). One guy slid off the trail down a steep slope and it took the medics 5 hrs to get to him and there are pictures of people clambering across big waterfalls with no safety line (the waterfalls arent normally there). All the other RDs are furious as it risks the rule that in a "T3" (medium sized typhoon), RDs have discretion over whether to run the race or not, because conditions can vary depending on wind direction and exact location.

Problem is that not doing that race has screwed up my taper for Friday's race as I went off to Tokyo that evening (the take off was "interesting") and then I did literally no exercise for 6 days as was flat out with work/dinners etc. Hoping that being well rested will somehow see me through. Will be majorly disappointed if I cant get a course PB. Still, at least the weather's improved Grin

Great to read through everyone's achievements.

Purpletoes · 14/10/2015 07:17

Club run from me do that makes 6.
Was good but I felt sluggish am coming down with a cold but no chance to run from now till Saturday as DP is out Thursday and Friday. And I have a works retirement thing tonight.

574.81

That weather sounds horrendous not something I think I could run in. keyser

KeyserSophie · 14/10/2015 08:19

Yeah, there comes a time in your life when you're just not prepared to risk death to come on the second page of the results Grin. To be fair, most of the international finished and really rated it, but the issue was that the slower runners got the brunt of the bad weather, and it wasnt a points race so you could enter with zero prior trail experience.

Anglaise1 · 14/10/2015 14:38

Keyser glad you are back here and are OK! Sorry about your race but you did the right thing in not doing it. There comes a time when you have to weigh up risk vs potentail glory and it sounds as if there was rather a lot of risk in that race what with the lightning, floods and gusts. I bet the rest you have had will stand you in good stead for your next race (when is it??)
6.2 rather slow miles from the dog and me this morning, my PITA is always worse the morning after an interval session.

Loueytb3 · 14/10/2015 15:42

Keyser – that was totally the right decision. I can't believe they ran the race when the T3 signal was up, extremely reckless Shock. Knowing HK weather as I do, I can quite imagine the conditions at sea level would have been horrendous, let alone up the top of the mountain… Looking on the bright side, although you missed some miles, at least you didn't get injured racing it. I hope the weather stays kind for your race. My colleague has just flown out to HK and I've been telling her that the weather in October is usually gorgeous!

Runforthehills – I am v impressed by your 30 miles in the cairngorms. Actually I'm in awe at any of you that do lots of hill running as I'm sure my knees wouldn't cope!

OhOne – very well done on the 10k pb, it’s a fabulous milestone Flowers. I would keep your nn, it's got a lovely ring to it

Anglaise – your new monsieur sounds lovely Smile Is your coach talking to you again?

Phlebas – I'm so sorry you were bullied but please don't let that put you off our thread. We’re really nice. Honest Smile

Neeko – are you still running, or has life got in the way. I guess you are on half term soon?

Standing – I've read his first book and it was a really good read. MyBlackCat - thanks for alerting me to the new one, which is now on my Christmas wish list! I really need to get some good podcasts on my ipod for long runs next year. I just need some time to find them and download them.

Purpletoes – hope the cold goes quickly

So the marathon is on Sunday. I've got the serious jitters. Everything is hurting, I feel knackered. Someone on another thread has called it maranoia, which seems quite apt. I am trying to go to bed early every night (although DS3 is STILL waking up 1-2x per night, in an attempt to get enough sleep). I am now having a dilemma about what the hell to wear as its turned cold and I'm worried I'm going to freeze while waiting for the race to start. I need to dig out my gloves and I've ordered a club t-shirt in case I decide the vest I've got is going to be too cold. And I keep looking at carb quantities in everything in preparation for carb-loading. I really need a non-running distraction….

Adding in 20.74 from the past week

601.75

Anglaise1 · 14/10/2015 17:48

Louey ooh how exciting for your marathon on Sunday! I hope you manage to get some decent sleep this week and don't forget to start carb loading asap...don't leave it until a couple of days before, you need to start eating from today, really!
For the start, I always use a dustbin liner if it is wet/cold as it is easy to get rid off a few miles into the race. Not sure what the forecast is where you are but I'd still race in a vest as I find it much more comfortable than a T shirt because you will get hot!
New Monsieur is indeed lovely, so nice to be with someone over 6ft for a change (French men tend to be on the short side) who is intelligent and sporty.
Coach is not only talking to me, he is joking with me - I think I'm his new favourite!
Really good luck for your marathon on Sunday Flowers you've prepared really well and you'll be fine.

614.45 includes the 12.7 I have done since last post.

Had my first session with my new trainer. Am now starting to believe I will get my 10k time down now my 5k time is better than I ever expected. I had a 10k at the weekend and felt strong on the big hill. So maybe my resolution to embrace hills is paying off.

Louey which marathon are you doing? Some of my club are going to Palma to run there at the weekend.

HalleLouja · 14/10/2015 18:04

Anglaise new guy sound promising.

suzannecaravaggio · 14/10/2015 18:13

12 miles from me 626.45
I nearly went out in full length tights but came to my senses at the last minute and wore shorts, I'd have been too hot

great way to bond if you are both into running Anglaise, it's just nice isnt it to meet some one who 'gets' the compulsion need to exercise frequently and to exhaustion

sounds good with the new trainer Halle :)

MyBlackCat · 14/10/2015 20:05

Do you ever have runs where it feels so easy? I felt great today during my 6.6 miles, hope it continues Grin

633.05

lastqueenofscotland · 14/10/2015 20:13

Struggling to fit the miles in as have been working away.

6.1 from me

639.15

FiftyNineOhEight · 14/10/2015 20:26

Hello Keyser, we missed you Smile

I'm struggling to find the time to run too lastqueen. Running gear has languished under my desk for the last 2 days - but my intentions were better than the execution.

Hope all goes well louey with your marathon.

I don't think I like my new name as much, but I thought I'd give it a twirl Grin. I know lots of you are younger faster than me, but breaking the hour has been a monkey on my back for YEARS, and to be closer to 59 minutes than the hour into the bargain has made me very happy Smile

custardcreamdreams · 15/10/2015 08:35

Fab new name FiftyNine and well done on your pb.

The race sounds quite scary keyser and you definitely did the right thing. Good luck for your up-coming marathon. I too bring a bin-liner to the start if rain is due.

Love runs like that blackcat!

Only a little 3.5 to add. Got very shaky and weak feeling half way through so cut it short. Dc have been coughing and hacking around me so probably a lack of sleep. Fingers crossed it's not a case of starting to come with a dose of their germs too.

642.65

emummy · 15/10/2015 13:00

Wee run to park then 7 repeats up steep steps. About 1 degree and foggy, wish I hadn't forgot my gloves!
644.76

Anglaise1 · 15/10/2015 15:25

13.5 miles with friend in a rather chilly 10°c sunny but a cold wind. It was my first opportunity to try out my new Odlo windbreaker which was fab but then it should be at the price it kept me warm and once warmed up I didn't need to take it off as it was very breathable. I had a 50€ cheque from a race I won in the summer to use in The Endurance Shop where everything is expensive, without adding extra money to the cheque I'd probably have been able to afford a buff and a pair of socks.

4.4. Meant to be 6 Run cut short by tripping over and going flying smashing my
Knees and shin up. Ouch. Large glass of white for lastqueen please!

stilllearnin · 15/10/2015 21:25

5 miles from me today and I feel like I am back on it. I really enjoyed it and felt like I could go out tonight too!! I am happy with that distance for now.

671.69

fiftynine I love it!! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 15/10/2015 22:00

I haven't kept up with you all since Monday and haven't done any running, poorly friend and a lot of life getting in the way. Should be running tomorrow early am and then parkrun Saturday and 10k race Sunday, so will catch up with weekly miles!

Sounds pretty scary KeyserSophie!

Good luck for Sunday Loueytb3, is it your first?

That's lovely Anglaise1, I often wish dh ran but he doesn't and won't being an 18st power lifter who thinks all cardio is a waste of time so I have to settle for respect for my time to run as he wants the same to lift Grin
