lol, no don't scare him off, even if he's a lightweight in the running stakes he may have other useful abilities Wink :o

suzannecaravaggio · 09/10/2015 20:25

Thanks Standing a good listen....always looking for reading material so I'll check out his books too :)

cinnamongreyhound · 09/10/2015 20:31

I'm out walking the dogs by 6.30 every day anyway stilllearning so not that different for me, non child snuggling time sounds good!

Oooo exciting Anglaise1 and good he understands your running too Smile

I have a horrid cold and struggled slightly with my breathing Thursday am but still planned to go early this morning anyway until ds3 who has the same cold woke at 9pm and didn't got back down until nearly midnight and I expected the night to continue that way. Thankfully he slept until 7.30 but my 6.15 alarm was early enough didn't want a 5.30 one to run! No parkrun tomorrow as we're visiting the mil so will next run Sunday (hopefully).

Wrongornot · 09/10/2015 20:31

Two 5 mile runs from me this week.

Off to Turkey in the morning for half term, packed running things but they may not see the light of day!

Neeko · 09/10/2015 20:37

Still not been back out running but lurking and enjoying your chat.

standingonlego · 09/10/2015 20:41

suzanne he writes for the guardian, names of his books are referenced in this article...mind you, would not be hard to find with his google whack of a name Grin

suzannecaravaggio · 09/10/2015 21:00

I know Standing...I have downloaded the kindle samples:)
I'll give them a try

Tbh I've not been much grabbed by any other books on running that I've read

it's just that I'm constantly casting about for something interesting to read so I read the samples of all and any books which sound remotely likely!

MyBlackCat · 09/10/2015 21:25

I've read the running with the Kenyans book - found it really interesting, I've just downloaded his other book for my holidays Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 09/10/2015 22:09

MyBlackCat · 10/10/2015 11:22

3.1 parkrun miles this morning in some welcome sunshine, still struggling with pacing and went off too quick this week, my first mile was 30secs quicker than last week but I was 3 secs slower overall - oops

414.85

stilllearnin · 10/10/2015 11:37

standing thanks for that listen. It was great. I have a troubled friend who text me over 60 times last night. When i got back from a run this morning, I told her to get outside (she cycles) as the light was lovely - she took my advice and has just text me to say much the same as that podcast Smile

suzannecaravaggio · 10/10/2015 16:14

I hope your friend is ok Stilll?
being on a bike can feel really good...a bit like flying, and outdoor light helps brain chemistry, I think my daily dose of staring at the sea and the sky is part of what keeps me on an even keel.

12 miles from me 426.85

Purpletoes · 11/10/2015 00:05

Just parkrun from me today. Did my other local one today which is more hilly than my other one but was happy with time.

Spent rest of day baking for cake sale at our club race tomorrow.

Hopefully it will be a good one. 4 cakes done and dusted. Grin

stilllearnin · 11/10/2015 09:26

Thank you suzanne I've had phone contact over the weekend so that's a relief. The light in the mornings is amazing at the moment - it's like a little gift! It wont last but I like the windy autumnal nights too.

emummy · 11/10/2015 10:52

Not so much lovely morning light here today - ok at the bottom of the hill, a bit cloudy. At the top - thick mist, pouring rain, wind! First time I've had to put my top layer back on! Got totally soaked, squelchy feet and all. To add to that, I miscalculated and ran an extra 1.15 miles! So did 13.15 miles, with 581m of total climb, nearly fell but just kept balance, very wet and quite pleased!

4.31 from me early yesterday miles

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 11/10/2015 18:19

Amazing running emummy well done!

parkrun tourism and I think a 10K PB from me today. I didn't have my garmin and just followed someone going fast enough to make me work slightly harder than I wanted to most of the way Smile. DH could see the clock as I came through the finish and said I was under an hour, but I am still waiting for the official result.

I hope your cold is better cinners and you get out this week Smile

phlebasconsidered · 11/10/2015 22:03

I have been absent as I gave mumsnet a rest due to feeling rather bullied on another thread. But, I did my hm today in 2:10, was v happy! Am sorry you ladies missed out on months worth of miles. Will be back again, for this thread.

custardcreamdreams · 11/10/2015 22:26

Well done emummy, I'm in awe of all you trial runners who climb big heights. Not just because of the strength and stamina involved but the fact I can't climb up a ladder without feeling dizzy Grin

Hope your friend's alright still

Fingers crossed for your pb OhOne

Hope you had a lovely weekend away Anglaise

Didn't make parkrun this weekend. Shins were a bit achy so I gave it a miss, culmination of faster running when I'm used to plodding and consecutive days I think. Really don't want to get shin splints again as I had it earlier in the year, result of bouncing around to a Julian Michaels dvd of all things. Still feel them a bit today playing chase with dd so will leave it a little while longer.

stilllearnin · 11/10/2015 22:29

phlebas welcome back.I don't know about your other thread, but that is not the thing at all! Bullies on mn are such idiots, I only go on supportive threads if I can help it. Still, well done for giving it a rest if that was a good decision and good to see you.

Ohone will you have to change your nn?!!

emummy · 12/10/2015 08:21

Well done phlebas, great time! Sorry to hear about the bullies - stick with us, nothing but positivity here!
custard a few weeks ago I was no fan of going up big hills, and I have to say that the going up part is a real slog, but what has made it amazing has been the views. Around here it's pretty quiet too so I often don't see anyone else, and the feeling of peace is wonderful. Views were totally absent yesterday right enough, but the feeling of freedom was still there. I am only doing it to train for a particular race, but I may well be hooked!

suzannecaravaggio · 12/10/2015 17:37

12 miles from me 468.71
slightly cooler which is a big relief :)
