Thanks for the good wishes everyone, I am doing exercises diligently so fingers crossed. Maybe I should think about different shoes, suzanne, but I already use supported ones and have used same make for years (although I have had Achilles problems for years too, just not as bad as currently). Physio is going to look at my shoes too so I will see what she says.

That sounds sore Louey, I hope your elbow is better soon. We were doing the tourist stop and gawp today, we were walking along the Embankment to Tower Bridge, but we did try not to get in anyone's way. I saw a lot of runners and was eyeing them enviously but it does look very difficult to get a decent run, I would have been cursing the bloody tourists within minutes I think!
Ouch for your clubmate too cinnamon, that sounds really nasty.

Brilliant result runtothehills, you should def go for Championships Smile Smile

WhoWould I tried compression calf sleeves but didn't find they made much difference to be honest. I use them sometimes in winter but find them too hot in summer. There is some stuff in Runners World from a while back where the consensus was that they didn't seem to improve times but in some individuals they seemed to help recovery and reduce post race muscle aches but had to be put on immed after racing and kept on for quite a few hours I think. So they might be useful for calf pain post tramping. I will try and find the article once I'm back home, wifi is a bit slow here.

louey you poor thing - I have just about given up running over Westminster Bridge these days - it's a shame, as I can do the Westminster/Millennium Bridge loop in a lunch break, but the South Bank is so busy near the London Eye it's too hard to run.

Well done RTTH and Sorelip great running!

cinnamongreyhound · 07/10/2015 10:35

Long leggings Shock standingonlego, it was too hot in 3/4's in the rain here last night! Apparently 12C at 7pm!!!

custardcreamdreams · 07/10/2015 13:44

Usually avoid running on consecutive days as I've dodgy hips but had to take the opportunity today. Last I'll be able to get out until parkrun.

8.4 - 316.6

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 07/10/2015 17:27

6.2 from me today - had to drag myself round for most of it as it was windy and damp, but I did enjoy it in places Smile. Especially when I worked out that if I carried on to 6.2 instead of the 5.8 I was at when I got back to where I'd parked my bicycle I would end up a the park cafe Smile

Runtothehills yes definitely try the Scottish championship next year! Do you have any tables which show what level (county, regional, national) that you have according to your times like we do here in France? That might help you decide if you still have doubts. I qualified for the French national HM finals because my time was 1H45 which isn't that fast at all really, I was surprised, I thought it would be 1H30 maximum (in my dreams for that time!)
Louey hope your elbow is less sore today.
We were running in 18°C yesterday evening, I was hot in shorts and a T shirt, some of the girls were in long sleeves and long tights, I think they regretted it!
6.1 slowish dog running miles this morning.

I intended to run at work today at the end of the day, went to get changed and realised I didn't put in a tshirtShock didn't think it was appropriate to run around in my bra so just came home, will try tomorrow instead.

Grin BlackCat

Put your top in your bag now!

cinnamongreyhound · 07/10/2015 22:11

Those running with a buggy which one do you have? A lady from my post natal group would like to get one but she's no longer on mn. Thank you Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 08/10/2015 09:24

4 miles starting in the dark but lovely seeing the sun come up with some misty bits 332.9

stilllearnin · 08/10/2015 09:36

335.5 and getting easier so will increase the distance now.

Cinnamon, I am so envious that you get up and do that. I don't want to admit it but I suspect I may be too lazy!

emummy · 08/10/2015 11:01

3.2 miles up a hill. First part through long grass and ferns and brambles, so got scratched and very wet! Then dog jumped into a field and couldn't get out! Beautiful day, gorgeous view from the top, and not boring!

337.7

Naicecuppatea · 08/10/2015 13:17

9.45 miles this morning through the woods, which is my longest yet. If I had known how close I was to 10 I would have carried on for a few more minutes. It was enjoyable but I ran through a bit of shin pain which I probably shouldn't have. Does anyone else get shin pain?

347.2

cinnamongreyhound · 08/10/2015 14:27

It's out of necessity stilllearnin, dh leaves for work at 7.10 and I'm usually knackered by the evening. I usually do one evening run 6.30/7ish but even that's mostly dark now Sad

suzannecaravaggio · 08/10/2015 14:58

12 mostly sunny miles
359.2

Anglaise1 · 08/10/2015 20:21

8.75 with a friend and the dog. Not sunny, but a gorgeous autumnal day nevertheless. Tomorrow planning to do 2.5 hour run minimum because I'm doing a 30km coastal trail race next weekend and haven't run over 21kms for a while now so need some endurance training.

I don't think I can count running to dd's bus stop to give her the homework she'd forgotten - despite that the bus was running and I had to sprint! (she's year 7 bless her, and hwork takes her ages).

Cinnamon - my dp leaves at that time too but it's our non child snuggle time and I'm not giving that up!!

emummy · 09/10/2015 11:29

Beautiful day, went up big hill with dog. Usual track was shut off so found myself on very soggy and boggy steep hillside, knee deep in wet grass! Didn't enjoy that at all, great relief to rejoin track further up. Amazing views from the top, and 380 m of ascent, which is quite a lot for me! Met an elderly man at the top who had also run up, very inspiring!

Purpletoes · 09/10/2015 12:22

4.35 from me. Intervals with club

Didn't manage to run on Tuesday so the intervals and parkrun will be my only runs this week as we have our club 10k on Sunday so will be marshalling.

Happy running Thai weekend everybody.

Anglaise1 · 09/10/2015 15:46

Long run of 17 miles this afternoon in beautiful Autumn sunshine. Going away for the weekend with new man so will have a rest day but lots of walking planned, and the good thing is he likes running too so maybe we'll fit in a little run on Sunday.
Good luck to everyone racing and Park running this weekend.
Worried about Keyser Sophie she hasn't posted since her race last Sunday? Hope everything is OK!

In the event that you do run together Anglaise are you gonna run real easy to protect his ego...or just thrash him so he knows from the get-go who's boss? :o

MyBlackCat · 09/10/2015 18:59

4.3 miles at a gentle pace this morning in the sunshine, parkrun in the morning so hope the legs aren't too tired

Anglaise1 · 09/10/2015 20:07

GrinSuzanne I'll be running easy, he runs with a club (just once a week) and finds it difficult to keep up with them on their 11kph runs, my easy pace is around 10kph so that should suit us both. I don't want to scare him off and I quite like a man to be, well manly!
