One mile today with DD (5) in the family run in Glasgow - it was fab! GrinThink she is now suitably hooked!

76.2

MyBlackCat · 03/10/2015 16:56

3.1 parkrun miles this morning, my third best time although a minute off my PB Hmm

79.3

Purpletoes · 03/10/2015 17:18

Congratulations last queen commiserations everyone else. I think I would like to do a marathon at some stage so may start applying for 2017. Give myself something to work towards. Goal for 2016 is to do a half.
Parkrun from me today and I managed to get sub 30! Yeah. We had pacers today and I thought I was doing rubbish but the 30 min pacer obviously was going fast to drag us all under. Managed 29:26. A full 42 secs off my previous PB 2 months ago so well chuffed.

Really wish I had managed to get into running more before I had my kids as I feel slightly guilty dragging them around sometimes for races.

We have our club 10k next week so think all my runs may be during the week should be fun although not running but helping out with the kids race.

keyser good luck in your race.

Murphy's law strikes! Got a London place... will defer until 2017 though.

cinnamongreyhound · 03/10/2015 19:37

Have two club mates with a place and one who deferred from last year plus we get two club places but they're not given out until our Christmas awards evening. Sorry to those who wanted a place and didn't get one, totally don't get it I'm afraid.

Parkrun plus there and back this morning 72.2

cinnamongreyhound · 03/10/2015 19:38

Whoops looks like a missed a page!!!!! 86.4

Congrats TriJo!

Wrongornot · 04/10/2015 07:12

I have got THE FEAR Shock

Any last minute words of wisdom for a first time half marathoner? Weather looks great at least, dry and cool.

Happy running! Smile

lastqueenofscotland · 04/10/2015 10:01

Well done on pbs and good luck to racers!
8.1 from me. It's effing cold out!!!
Had a hot shower and crawled back under the duvet in an effort to warm up. But really enjoyed it and that's the main thing!
94.5

custardcreamdreams · 04/10/2015 10:16

Hope it goes well wrongornot

10k run later today and facing the eternal question of what to wear. Think I'll stick my shorts on and bring tights with me. Cannot be bothered with it, very tired and grumpy. Problems falling asleep then when I did one my neighbours woke me up less than hour later at half three in the morning. Aye, grand idea talking loudly to your group of mates for a hour near enough right outside my house Angry I was tempted to get the mower out first thing this morning as payback but I'm not as inconsiderate as some. Lots of coffee needed but maybe a run will shake me out of my bad mood.

Anglaise1 · 04/10/2015 12:01

19 miles to add from yesterday's race and today's club training session. The 14km trail race was wonderful, in the woods alongside the Rance estuary between St Malo and Dinard. Lovely weather and a beautiful route despite the 500 steps up and down the cliffs. There was a really steep hill in the last km and I ran it, overtaking lots of men who didn't overtake me afterwards. I find that men always walk up fairly steep hills which can be really frustrating on trail races on narrow paths where it is difficult to overtake.
I was really pleased to finish 8th woman overall (the women in front were all much younger) and 1st in my age category (49 - 59) so another podium and another uglytrophy.
Coach is speaking to me again!
113.5

11 from me
124.5

congrats on your trophy Anglaise:o

I hope you felt better after your run Custard and get a better nights sleep tonight :)

emummy · 04/10/2015 17:00

Brilliant result Anglaise, well done!
Had beautiful run up a local hill at sunrise this morning. 426m of ascent in total, the views were stunning, especially where the mist was below me. So it was hard work but felt fabulous because of the surroundings!
1235.1

Wrongornot · 04/10/2015 18:56

Run was fabulous, I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. The support en route was phenomenal, which kept everybody going. That's me hooked now - is an offer of the next three 'Great Runs', 5km in Jan, 10 miles in May and the half again next October all for £60 and you get a nice running top too - tempted!

Anyway - 13.1 from me today (yay) in a reasonably respectable 2:12:30 Grin

custardcreamdreams · 04/10/2015 20:00

Go for it Wrong and fab time, well done!

Congrats on the trophy winning Anglaise, that's a great result.

10k done and new pb. Not sure on the chip time yet but garmin reading about 54 minutes. Best bit of the day was watching my littlest do the kids run. She's only two but had this fist punching, determined pursing of the lips and ran the whole 500m as fast as her little legs would carry her. Was awesome Grin

Mine and wrongornots together brings us to 1254.4

custardcreamdreams · 04/10/2015 20:09

Eh? Actually, the distance is way off there.. was wondering how we got to the thousands already :) Not sure what it's meant to be now, emummy, what was yours to add?

Nanodust · 04/10/2015 20:30

First 10k completed today and managed under 1hour (just) 59:25! I could only run for 2 mins before stopping 3 months ago!

emummy · 04/10/2015 20:48

Aargh, it was me! Total after me should be 135.1, with the rest it's 154.4. Sorry! Shouldn't try arithmetic while talking to dh!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/10/2015 21:59

8.1 from me - parkrun and an early evening run tonight. I wish I'd had my phone with me, at one point I came round a corner and there was a swan sitting motionless on the lake, with the reflection of the setting sun in the water. Just lovely. I also saw some bunny rabbits and an amazingly gorgeous dog (and I am not a dog person). I have googled and think it was a Saluki.

Well done Anglaise on your trophy and purple on your PB, and Wrong on completing your first HM. And Maugrim on your sub-1 hour 10 Congrats and commiserations to VLM innies and outies.

Waves to all Smile

162.3

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/10/2015 21:59

162.5 I mean!

familygermsareok · 04/10/2015 23:09

Great results Anglaise, purple, Wrong and Maugrim Smile
Congrats on adding to the ugly trophy collection too Anglaise. Glad to hear your coach has come round. He sounds a bit petulant. Maybe you should stop speaking to him for a while and just carry on getting good race results to make your point!

Well done to your DD too custard, that's so cute Smile

Love the sound of your runs emummy and OhOne, those sound really gorgeous.

Saw physio on Fri who says I have very tight calves and plantar fascia, and dropped arches all of which are affecting my Achilles. So have been given lots of exercises to do and banned from running for a while Sad.
Kids are off school for the Oct hols now and we are going to London to do some sightseeing so that should take my mind off it for a bit.
Have a race on 1 Nov and was hoping I would be fit enough for that, but perhaps a bit optimistic. Will see.

Thecontinualgardener · 04/10/2015 23:35

Place marking. Looking for inspiration ??

suzannecaravaggio · 05/10/2015 09:04

Hello Thecontinualgardener :)
are you finding it difficult to get out running as often as you'd like to? ?

Thecontinualgardener · 05/10/2015 09:58

I'm a dreadful procrastinator :-/ . Hoping to go out tonight for a bit which will be the first in a few months. I love it when I'm out there, just difficult making that first move. Hoping to work up to a marathon in April but we'll see. Does anybody else prefer running in the dark?

suzannecaravaggio · 05/10/2015 10:53

as per nike...just do it!

custardcreamdreams · 05/10/2015 12:21

I prefer running in the dark.. and the rain.
