Anglaise after the last session gave me pita I decided to leave the intervals and now I'm just adding in a couple of shorter runs per week

I think I was getting a bit ahead of myself and I need to increase frequency before I work on speed Blush

your coach is sounding like a bit of a diva :o

lastqueenofscotland · 29/09/2015 21:51

5.5 hill session. Don't know how you hill runners do it!!!

1481.05

cinnamongreyhound · 29/09/2015 22:00

This is mine Wrongornot, check out the lumens as my friends has twice the lumens and it makes a big difference. Also think about batteries, hers is chargeable but she only manages 3 runs on it, mine takes 3AAA batteries but it does last me 10-15 runs.

Seriously not speaking to you Anglaise1 or just jokingly not speaking to you?

4.2 miles from me with a funny mixture of people I usually run separately with but got together because we all had the same time available! 1485.25

Purpletoes · 29/09/2015 23:51

Argh long post written and just disappeared! Angry

Have had calf strain so not been running but did venture out tonight with club and did a gentle 4.5. Calf feels ok so hopefully it is recovered ok now.

Right time to head back and read what's been happening.

1489.75

KeyserSophie · 30/09/2015 02:11

Adding 3 from last night to make 1492.75. Strava went completely rogue and tracked me apparently climbing over a couple of three storey buildings and up a cliff en route. My hip is a bit niggly so short runs only for me between now and Sunday's race. Forecast for Sunday is highs of 28 so not too bad, but I'm hoping the cloud comes in on the peaks all the same. No chance of any sort of glory as lots of international runners coming as it's included in the Sky Racing tour, so just going to enjoy the views and the atmosphere. Nice picture of course profile attached!

I'm running roughly twice a week at the moment (15+3), 3-4 miles at a time because I need bathroom breaks if I go any further! Had an absolutely lovely run on Saturday around Hampstead Heath with my husband, not sure how much he likes slowing down to 10:30-11 min/mile pace but them's the breaks! There were sausage sandwiches at the farmers market afterwards though :)

Hoping to keep going until 20 weeks, that would take me nicely up to Halloween and the weather getting a lot colder. Think I'll need to get some sort of bump support soon though for running because there's only so much that my capris can hold in position on their own...

Whowouldfardelsbear · 30/09/2015 08:13

5.13 miles to add from me.

How many of you are waiting for London Marathon ballot places? I hear they should be coming out this week. Very exciting.

Me and a friend are going to aim for a marathon in 2017. Probably the Queenstown in South Island of New Zealand. We want to do the Wellington half-marathon next year, but the full marathon doesn't appeal so much as you have 3 turn points which means you end up doing a big stretch 3 times.

Morning runners Smile

Gorgeous morning here, just a quick 2.99 to add from me (I was on 2.90 when I got home, decided to make it up to 3.00 as I like round numbers, and then bumped into a friend and stopped Grin). I am feeling full of endorphins - a shame I need to log on and get on with some work.

Interesting profile Keyser Grin. You have reminded me of the time I apparently ran up skyscrapers in New York (people do actually do that, but I didn't).

Congratulations TriJo, I think I missed your news earlier on. and well don your DH for slowing down - mine finds it too hard to run at my pace so we never run together.

Hope the calf is OK today purple.

10.5 sunny but windy miles from me
1511.37

MyBlackCat · 30/09/2015 17:43

3.5 slow miles from me - felt awful, are these the junk miles that some speak of?

1514.87

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/09/2015 18:55

I hope the wind was at your back suzanne

lastqueenofscotland · 30/09/2015 19:01

Measly 1.54 from me. Planned 5 but literally couldn't go another yard :( happens to the best of us right?

So frustrating as won't have a chance to run till Saturday now.

1516.41

suzannecaravan · 30/09/2015 19:33

it was at my back half the time Ohone but I quite like running into wind...very cooling:)
and I was out with the midday sun beating down from a clear blue sky!

oh no lastqueen :(
what happened...did you get a muscle/tendon strain or something like that?

lastqueenofscotland · 30/09/2015 20:37

I did a horrid hill session last night and had been on my feet all day for work combined with a bit of a cold. If we are being honest I probably shouldn't have gone.

Can't run till Saturday but got a lovely 4 mile run in the country planned. Sulk!

Anglaise1 · 30/09/2015 21:35

LastQueen Myblackcat we all have crap days, the next run will be better. Perhaps you both need a rest!
8.5 with hills today. Always have the PITA tendonitis after the interval sessions with the club Tuesday night but it was beautiful sunshine early this morning and I ran with a friend who is really on form so that made it easier. She is off for to do the Diagonale des Fous on the Reunion Island (164 km trail race - 9917m ascent) in a couple of weeks and I've been helping her train as we are about the same level.
Suzanne yes the coach is a stubborn git, he has his favourites and I'm not one, but his lack of faith in me has a reverse effect, when he told me I was too old to do cross country because I'm quite a recent runner and nearly 50 I decided to try the departmental (county) event and ended up beating a lot of other younger club runners and qualified for the regional finals which is more than a lot did. I can be just as stubborn!

cant you bin him off and find a coach who believes in you Anglaise he sounds like he's Envy of you or somethingHmm
you deserve much better surely!Wink

sounds like your subconscious mind was telling you to rest Lastqueen ?
pushing yourself when under the weather can be very counterproductive!

suzannecaravan · 30/09/2015 22:08

or is he (mr coach) just using some sort of reverse psychologyConfusedGrin

suzannecaravan · 30/09/2015 22:29

he told me I was too old
Shock
I would go home and get busy with the wax effigy and the pinsAngry

Anglaise1 · 01/10/2015 06:54

Suzanne I don't think he is clever enough for reverse psychology. He is in his early seventies now and I think is also getting grumpier because he is slowing down and isn't capable of doing what he did. But he has always (maybe rightly) been dismissive of club members who do their own thing.
I'm not the only one. But he is a volunteer coach and until there is someone else to take his place we just have to put up with it!

OP posts:
suzannecaravan · 01/10/2015 09:02

He sounds at best useless and irrelevant, at worst counterproductive ?
Can you just humor him but disregard all his 'advice'??

HalleLouja · 01/10/2015 09:54

Anglaise my running club might be up for a bit of twinning. They usually do an away race each autumn so that might work. They like to do a marathon plus have something where there are shorter races for those who don't want to run marathons.... If you pm me the details I can ask those in the committee.

emummy · 01/10/2015 10:46

Beautiful sunny morning run in the forest, relaxed and easy. Only 5 degrees!
