Anyone planning to do Juneathon this year? Run, or do some other form of exercise every day during June and then blog, tweet or post to the Juneathon Facebook group about it.

juneathon.com/rules.html

I'm hoping to give it a go to give me a kick up the back-side exercise wise and maybe combine it with making a few more healthy choices to streamline a bit for summer! I'm hoping to do 3/4x running, 1x swimming and 2/3x yoga/DVD/weights/floor work at home.

Still doubling up on 30DS. Today I did L1D4 + L3D9.

I've ordered another couple of workout DVDs, so will probably try something different next week.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 17/07/2015 18:34

OK - just did my 30th day of 30DS (L3D10 + L1D5).

I've included before and after photos as promised (I've lost 4lb and toned up quite a bit)

Well done Harry. You look great, you must be delighted with the results. I hope you're having a celebratory something for finishing. When are the family home again?

I got to bootcamp this morning, which was all squats with 30kg barbells. It's a funny class, I know I worked but I because I didn't get any sweat on, I don't really feel like I did (if that makes sense). I'm in a foul humour so may go for a walk or plod later so I don't do end up divorced Hmm

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 17/07/2015 22:21

Wow - I'm certain I couldn't manage squats with 30kg barbells. I bet you burned loads of calories even if you didn't feel like you did.

I had a G&T or two to celebrate this evening. DH is back (he's a bit jet lagged). We have to drive to Yorkshire tomorrow to collect the DC (I'll be driving while DH tries to stay awake snores in the passenger seat).

DH flies back to the US on Monday, but I'll have the DC around next week. I'm guessing my exercise time will drop off a bit.

AnnPerkins · 18/07/2015 11:47

Well done Harry. You look fab.

Hope you're having a better day Kanye.

I'm going to run tomorrow and do a video this pm. DH and I sat up drinking and talking bollocks far too late last night and I'm having trouble getting moving this morning.

KanyesVest · 18/07/2015 13:22

Thanks Ann. Poo is minimal so far and dh is hiding, so everything is better Smile. Hope your hangover isn't too bad. Spontaneous drinky nights are always fun.

Safe travels today Harry.

My legs are going to fall off. I nearly cried when coming downstairs this morning. I ended up going for a 4km run last night - I don't know if it made things better or worse! I'll go for a walk this evening or maybe just do some stretching.

KanyesVest · 19/07/2015 22:20

So I ended up falling asleep immediately after putting the children to bed last night, so didn't get my walk done! I did 5km this evening; legs still not recovered from Friday...

AnnPerkins · 20/07/2015 13:20

How are your legs today Kanye?

I managed nothing on Saturday, except a little nap after dinner Blush

But I ran 4.4 miles last night. It was lovely and cool just after 8pm and I felt good. Still had a headache afterwards but not as severe so the meds are starting to work.

I keep forgetting about the workout video, which is a shame because it was very effective. I will definitely do one before dinner tonight.

KanyesVest · 20/07/2015 20:21

Did you get to do your video, Ann? My legs are ok generally, but I thought I'd die of pain rolling out at boot camp just now, and that was after a 2km run there which should have warmed me up! Class was kettle bells and I was bloody knackered afterwards so I cadged a lift home Blush

KanyesVest · 20/07/2015 20:22

Psychological, great to hear your meds are working. Must be a great relief to know you won't be crippled by going for a run.

KanyesVest · 20/07/2015 20:23

Ps, not psychological. Bloody autocorrect...

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 20/07/2015 21:28

I'm trying out a new DVD (Ripped in 30). Just done my first day of the week 1 workout. I'm not sure I'm a convert - at least not yet. My calves get very tight during the cardio circuits, and my lower back is a bit sore now. I'll persevere for a bit and see if I can get into it...

AnnPerkins · 21/07/2015 09:51

Good luck with your new DVD Harry. Have you got a foam roller? They're brilliant for stiff calves.

Thanks Kanye. I've brought my kit to work, looking forward to a run before picking DS up from holiday club. I've been reading the Race to the Stones Facebook page and feeling inspired. I did Jessica last night, first time in ages and really felt it, especially in my legs. I need to get back into a routine, with DH away this week I have no excuse not to do after DS goes to bed.

You're a hero running to bootcamp when you don't know what they've got in store for you there. I would be conserving my energy all the way in case I needed it all!

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 21/07/2015 18:27

DH has a foam roller - I might borrow it. Thanks for the tip.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 21/07/2015 20:58

My plan for the next month or so is to rotate through the various DVDs I have for a bit of variety.

Today I did 30DS L1D6, and then had a go at 6W6P L1D1.

AnnPerkins · 21/07/2015 21:38

Hope it helps Harry. It bloody hurts though, doesn't it?!

I ran 3.5 miles before picking up DS. Planned to do four but the heat and thirst got the better of me.

KanyesVest · 21/07/2015 21:40

Wow Harry, that's some combo today! You'll be properly ripped in no time! What's the race to the stones, Ann? How was your run?

I sometimes wonder if I'm brave or a total numpty to run to boot camp! It's hard because I don't like the first 2km or so of any run, and that's when I'm stopping before class. I get a real sense of achievement from the run home though. It's uphill, not massive, but not easy, and when I get past each of my "just keep going til the" points, and get to the top of the hill, where I can see the little hill down to my house, I always get a bit of a "yay me!" moment. Small victories, eh Blush

I had a late meeting, just in the door from it now so doing nothing tonight. I went for a 3km run at lunchtime as insurance so flopped on the couch now.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 21/07/2015 21:58

Oh it certainly hurts, although there is less cardio in 6W6P so I feel less tired after doing it (hope that makes sense).

Juneathon and Julyathon have really motivated me to get back into exercise. I've reached the point where my base fitness has improved, and I'm quite enjoying pushing myself Smile

AnnPerkins · 22/07/2015 11:49

I agree Harry. I've had a couple of hiccups lately but I'm back ON IT now.

Race to the Stones

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 22/07/2015 19:40

Pleased to hear you are over your hiccups Ann - onwards and upwards.

Today's exercise for me:
Warm-up: 30DS L1D7
Main circuit: Ri30 W1D2

KanyesVest · 22/07/2015 21:32

Hi both. Well done, Harry, that's an impressive warm up, let alone main circuit today! Great that you're both getting so much out of Julyathon. I'm not sure if I'm overdoing it a bit, I'm a bit wiped out. I think I need to build in some more rest days or do a decent stretching or yoga class or something instead. That said, I'm finally starting to shift a few of the pounds that had snuck back on over the last couple of months, so some good has definitely come of my extra effort! I'm going to stick with it until the end of the month anyway (DS's birthday on Sunday is the 2nd anniversary of the "new me" project) so I'll reassess after the 10km I've signed up for on 3rd Aug.

Anyway, I got out for a short run this evening. I got a stitch about 100m from the house, so I only did 20mins (still have the bloody stitch). I think it was 3km, my runkeeper app is having some sort of episode and told me it was 13.8km and I was doing each km in 1m34secs, which is definitely ambitious!

The Race to the Stones looks amazing Ann. DH's friend does ultra marathons and they are just bonkers. Brilliant, but bonkers.

AnnPerkins · 23/07/2015 09:47

Wow Harry. 30 Day Shred is now your warm-up! You're really going for it.

Kanye, I would count stretching as exercise because flexibility is so important DH says especially for people our age Hmm. Or you could incorporate stretching into a core strength workout.

I had really strong runs after a week off, a day off from cardio at least could really benefit you if you're feeling wiped out.

KanyesVest · 24/07/2015 11:51

Morning.

I ended up taking yesterday off as I was beginning my bakinathon (cakes on demand for three days straight!). I think you're right, Ann, ill have to find a decent stretch or yoga programme for my rest days. I had a look at Jessica before so I might give her a try. I did get to boot camp this morning, so I'm done for the day Smile

Have a lovely weekend.

AnnPerkins · 24/07/2015 11:57

Hi Kanye

You're baking cakes on demand for three days straight? That sounds arduous enough, no need for bootcamp or anything else! I volunteered to make some jam tarts for my dad's 80th birthday party on Sunday. Nothing could be simpler but I'm really not looking forward to doing it.

I ran 4 miles after work yesterday. It was cooler so much better than Tuesday's run. I also did a new route with a fair bit of uphill and some off road, which relieved the tedium a bit.

I'm feeling very enthusiastic about running at the moment. Going to drive to somewhere nice and try a longer distance tomorrow. Hopefully 5 miles if it's not too hot.

Have great weekends everyone. Kanye, don't eat everything you bake or you'll be doing double bootcamp on Monday!

KanyesVest · 24/07/2015 19:02

Yes, Ann, it's not quite on demand, but it's bloody demanding! DS will be 3 on Sunday, so he had his party in nursery today and so I had to make him a cake for that, fire engine 1. Without thinking about the date, I promised to make a cake for a fundraiser tomorrow, and having mentioned a malt chocolate cake I was held to it. But that really means making 2 cakes (it's layers) , and I still have to do DS's fire engine 2 so we have candles to blow out on Sunday! I have spent the afternoon debating the merits of madeira, malt and chocolate cake batter and which tastes best straight from the bowl Grin Jam tarts sound lovely. I'm not brave enough to try pastry.

Enjoy your run tomorrow, hope it's dry and not too hot. I need to get out and try my new runners...hopefully tomorrow between cake drops!
