Hi everyone, new thread started! Grin

OP posts:
PoppyShakespeare · 15/06/2015 10:02

2.05 = 615.9

thank you rain for stopping at last Smile

AggressiveBunting · 15/06/2015 12:58

No running from me today- got literally 2 hrs sleep as the DC's had jet lag and both woke up at 11pm, just as I was nodding off, and stayed awake will 3.30!! Then I had to get up at 6am, went to work, had DS's kindergarten graduation (yes, I know) and then took him for an ice-cream, DD then used her bare foot to drag-brake her scooter and ripped a nail off, and after all that, I just need a sit down Grin

So, tomorrow I need to get back on it. Bladder bag is in the freezer. Stuff all laid out, and getting the 7.40 ferry to one of the islands to do a 22km trail run. It's gonna be slow and sweaty- forecast highs of 33.

HalleLouja · 15/06/2015 14:36

5.1 miles from yesterday 621.

Poppy I read your whole thread thinking ouch.

orangeflutie · 15/06/2015 18:04

I managed 2 miles running yesterday and walked rest of the way home. Thigh was ok for 2 miles but started to feel it getting tight so decided not to push things. Got home and iced it and have had no limping so hoping it's healing as was limping when I walked a few weeks ago.

Phlebas hope your injury doesnt put you out of action for too long.

Anglaise1 · 15/06/2015 19:42

8.75 dog running miles today. Anyone know where Suzanne is? She doesn't seem to have posted recently.
Good luck with your trail tomorrow Aggressive 30°C, I don't know how you manage in that heat and humidity!
621 + 2 from Orange + 8,75 =
631.75

phlebasconsidered · 15/06/2015 20:52

Well, I graded despite the foot making some of my kicks a bit flat. So one good thing at least. I did train tonight but only upper body and hyungs, no jumping. Icing and so on has brought the tendon damage down.

I am REALLY CROSS THOUGH and want to go running tommorow!

Orange, i feel your pain, you are being very zen about it.

Aggressive, I would DIE in that heat, I have to go running at 5am as soon as it gets even a bit hot.

phlebasconsidered · 15/06/2015 20:53

On the plus side of injury, i may be able to wangle new shoes from it. i think the tendon was done from a stone turn over trail running, the stress from just.... running. but my mileage is now well up from January, maybe I need a new pair of distance trainers to hold up as a holy grail. If I do take weeks off, that could be a distant hope and aim. Shiny new ones with big toe boxes and as bright and bright can be.

BobblesAndClips · 15/06/2015 22:08

Hello everyone. I sort of joined a couple of weeks ago, but then got ill and didnt run for over a week so just lurked despondently. However, I've been out tonight and last Thursday so have got miles to add, hurrah!

631.75 + 2.5 + 3.4 = 637.65

It felt hard tonight but I decided to push myself, which I probably don't do enough, and took a minute off my previous time for the same route. Just goes to show Blush

I was hoping to do a 10k next Sunday, but I think it would be a struggle so am skipping it, but at least I get to do a parkrun instead, first for a few weeks, so am looking forward to that Smile

Blatherskite · 15/06/2015 22:25

9.1 from me today. Not fast as the first 10k was with the Step Up group from running club who were doing the distance for the first time and the last 5k was with the Beginners group who are almost at the end of their C25K course and running for 12 minutes and walking for 1 but slow and steady miles and in the heat too.

646.75

AggressiveBunting · 16/06/2015 04:42

11.25 from me to make 658. Was pretty slow, especially as my tube broke so I had a lot of 'off the clock' breaks as had to keep taking the hydration pack off to drink out of the top, but as its 32c with 75% humidity that probably wasn't a bad thing. The streams are flowing again which is also helpful as its drinkable and means you don't have to carry litres and litres with you. Saw 2 snakes and many very large spiders and got attacked by wasps ( only 3 stings though).

Summer training here definitely requires a chilled approach to time and rest breaks, otherwise it's just purgatory.

lastqueenofscotland · 16/06/2015 09:22

3.1 so 5k from me yesterday in 23 mins!!!

661.1

LornMowa · 16/06/2015 09:46

After about 10 months of running I am finally beginning to believe that, yes! I am a runner so I feel brave enough to join this thread.

I have my Parkrun of 3.1 + another 3.6 miles from this morning to add which makes 667.8. This morning's run included a hilly section which I ran round twice and it felt easier the second time around.

Agressive your training conditions sound interesting. The most I have to contend with round here are lairy bus drivers

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 16/06/2015 09:49

Aggressive I think you need to change your name to Intrepid Smile

runtothehills · 16/06/2015 11:33

Welcome Lorn you most definitely are a runner!

lastqueen fab time well done.

Aggressive I don't think I could cope with those temps, I would be sweaty enough just standing still. Although if I saw 2 snakes you might find me running sub 4 min miles Grin

Gentle 4 miles today with a couple of friends, have flared up my ITB from the LSR on Saturday so doing lots of stretches and strengthening work, and back to the old faithful rocktape. Have a local hill race on Thursday, then taking it very easy till a week on Sunday.

671.8

stilllearnin · 16/06/2015 11:49

Hello you lovely lot. I am a bit sporadic at the minute posting and running wise. But I have 5 miles to add today. Out in the woods. The trail is supposed to be 5 miles but my garmin says 4.12. However I was prepared for this and had a bottle of water resting on my van. picked it up carried on with my run essentially starting a 2nd lap which meant that when I came to stop I was for once not in the car park, but able to enjoy the forest Smile

Lovely to see all the chat and good vibes out to the injured. 676.8

emummy · 16/06/2015 11:50

No running today as have developed foot pain. I think it may be tendonitis of one of the peroneus muscles, possibly as a result of the previous ankle injury. So rock tape, rest, neurofen, and I think I might need to track down a physio as my whole left leg is a mess! Sigh.

lastqueenofscotland · 16/06/2015 20:25

5.51 so 682.31

But have just realised a lot of bruising on the back of my bad knee. Guessing I should take a few days off :(

Anglaise1 · 16/06/2015 20:59

Welcome Lorn
emummy so sorry about your foot, definitely rest for a while, I hope you manage to see a physio soon, when I had tendonitis on my knee the shockwave treatment worked a treat.
Aggressive your trail sounds wonderful...but running in that heat must be tough! You must lose several kilos whenever you do your long runs.
My club coach despairs of me and says that rest is 50% of success and that if I ran a lot less I'd improve my times and get below 45 mins for a 10k. Problem is I'm sort of addicted to running and since I've been doing it nearly every day I have less aches and pain than before (even my right knee with the meniscus problem is OK).
4 x a week running is the max my coach wants me to do. And 2 weeks off completely in the summer which will be impossible!
11.5 miles from club session (run + intervals)
693.81

cinnamongreyhound · 16/06/2015 22:02

Wow that's hot for running AgressiveBunting! Eeek to the wasps!

Congrat on your grading phlebasconsidered.

Fab time lastqueenofscotland!

Oh no, hope you can find someone to help emummy! Wishing everyone else with niggles better too.

4 miles from me, pretty warm here but went a bit later due to my friends commitment but dogs still Struggled with the heat Sad 697.81

We need a new thread quick! Only 5 posts left Shock

familygermsareok · 16/06/2015 22:54

Sorry to hear about your injuries phlebas and emummy Flowers. Wishing you both a speedy recovery.

Brilliant time lastqueen Smile

Don't like the sound of the Hong Kong wildlife aggressive, or the heat/humidity, all of those would finish me! Shock

2 weeks with no running Anglaise? Is your coach out of their mind??Wink

Welcome Lorn and good to hear your updates Bobbles and stilllearin

No running from me, have got rotten cold and feel rubbish so resting up. Lovely to read about everyone else's runs though.

Anglaise1 · 17/06/2015 06:54

About to run out literally, so new thread here

holmessweetholmes · 17/06/2015 08:08

AggressiveBunting, your run sounds amazing! Emummy, I am joining you on the bench. I fear I have a stress fracture of one of the metatarsals in my right foot Sad. So that's me out of action for a while Sad. It's bloody annoying, as I had only run once in the last 3 weeks! I guess I had partially caused it by upping my distance too fast, then it must have gone when I was walking the dog over rough terrain. Sad

Don't know if I should bother going to the doc. I've had one of these before and it just got better on its own.

HalleLouja · 17/06/2015 09:20

Holmes oh no that sounds painful.

I think I might have over done it the last week. Have started to do my classes again after Every Day in May (during which I didn't have time to do them). But have done them all in one go. Yesterday I did body conditioning and then running club and I felt it running and today quads are a bit sore. Also did Hiit on Monday night.

702.81 includes my 5 miles.
