Hi everyone, new thread started! Grin

OP posts:
Anglaise1 · 11/06/2015 07:56

I'm the culprit Blush typo rather than maths error. Sorry!

Whowouldfardelsbear · 11/06/2015 09:05

No 300 miles from me, a less impressive 3.11 and a slightly more impressive (but still not very) 4.04.

I am working my way back up to 10k form my race in July as I got a bit out of practice with one thing and another.

Tonight's run was great. I was at 6.5k when I got back home and considered carrying on, but then thought I may as well stop while I'm still feeling good!

Awww at baby Cinnamon. I held a friend's small baby this week and am quite broody at the moment! (no more for me though!)

2.6 from me, just a short run ahead of hairdresser appointment! Already very warm, had lovely cold shower.

441.6

cinnamongreyhound · 11/06/2015 10:20

Good job someone is paying attention Wink

Loueytb3 · 11/06/2015 15:21

Halle - your running club sounds lovely. You must be so pleased with your runner of the month award, much deserved.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree ah yes, dodging the tourists. One of my lunchtime runs covers some of that stretch of the Thames. I cut in around the London eye as its always horrendous. There is a road that runs parallel to the walkway on the south bank which is quieter. I also go over Westminster bridge and always have to watch the tourists who just walk out in front of you with their ipads wanting to take photos. I mean, it's not as though there is anything to see there Wink I did one run in half term and it was horrific, but this week was a bit better.

holmes ouch! Is the knee any better today? I never know what to do when dogs run at you. I generally keep going but I had one nutter dog which chased after me and then stopped right in front me and whirled around so I had to avoid it and then did the same thing over and over again. Wasn't taking any notice of its owners. I wasn't sure whether to stop or carry on. In the end, it gave up.

ann hopefully the insoles will do the trick. Hope the run goes ok today.

lastqueen I bet you'll be speedier today.

3.8 intervals from me yesterday. Rest day today before the 12-miler planned for tomorrow.

445.4

Anglaise1 · 11/06/2015 18:28

Louey Good luck with your 12 miler tomorrow. I hope the weather is better for you than it was for mine today. I ran the last few kilometres at over 12kms and hour trying to get home asap because of getting caught in a thunderstorm. It was lovely when I set out, but so hot. I actually enjoyed the rain for a change.
11.75 miles so:
457.15
Maths and typing double checked this time!

familygermsareok · 11/06/2015 18:38

That's a lovely accolade Halle, you must be well chuffed Smile

Hope the knee is better holmes and the running shoes sorted Ann

Love the sound of the Mont Blanc ultra. I am an armchair ultra runner, I find them more enjoyable that way Wink. I do love reading about them though, and seriously respect all you runners who actually do them. I was looking for a new running book so will check out Lizzie Hawker's.

10.56 from me this morning. Really hot, lovely to see the sun at last but I am so crap at running in the heat!

445.4 + 10.56 = 455.96

familygermsareok · 11/06/2015 18:40

Oops x post with Anglaise

lastqueenofscotland · 11/06/2015 19:26

4.78 and very happy with every last yard. Felt very strong and very comfortable.
What a difference a day makes!

In other news... Anyone use compression gear? Thoughts? I might get some jazzy socks...

472.5 in not convinced of my maths there.

Anglaise1 · 11/06/2015 20:55

LastQueen I started using compression socks and maybe it is just a placedbo effect but I'm sure my legs are less tired at the end of long races than they were before. But maybe that's cos I have more muscles because I run a lot more now than I did a year ago. If you get some, get some jazzy ones, definitely. Mine are mostly black and boring, but they weren't cheap and I can't justify getting another pair as I only ever wear them for races, never training.

AggressiveBunting · 11/06/2015 21:46

I wear compression socks for ultras ( for support) and winter races ( for warmth- never wear tights). If nothing else, wearing bright ones make it easier to find your photos amongst 2000 others on FB. I got given some lovely stripey Stella McCartney ones for my bday.

AnnPerkins · 11/06/2015 22:04

4 miles for me tonight in the heat. Man that was hot! Wore old shoes and no pain at the time, can feel a bit of a twinge now but nothing alarming.

Glad you had a better run today lastqueen.

10.56 in the heat is awesome familygerms. I can't handle the heat, unless I'm lazing around in it. Roll on Autumn running weather.

Outrunning a thunderstorm will certainly achieve quite a negative split Anglaise!

Good luck with your 12 miler Louey.

476.5

TriJo · 12/06/2015 10:46

I like compression socks for longer races, maybe it's just a placebo but it feels like they help. Ran my fastest marathon in a pair of Nike ones 4 years ago. If I want to stand out, I have a bright pink pair :)

emummy · 12/06/2015 11:08

3.6 from me, a very hilly run in the woods and so slow! Never mind, better slow than nothing.

480.1

AggressiveBunting · 12/06/2015 13:33

Just shy of 10k from me so I'll call it a round 6 to make 386.1 Ran across the Downs from my mum's house which is a 5k gradual ascent and then all the way back downhill. New Altras held up well. Not sure if I like them as much as my Hokas but I love the wider toe box.

AggressiveBunting · 12/06/2015 13:34

correction: 486.1

standingonlego · 12/06/2015 20:53

Trying to catch up on the thread....lots of good running been going on :)

Blatherskite · 12/06/2015 20:55

Adding mine in one big lump. 19.1 miles so far this month so that should make 505.2 in total

Loueytb3 · 13/06/2015 10:21

Just posting the 12.1 from yesterday. I was supposed to be doing a 10 mile time trial as part of it to check my pacings but it didn't go to plan at all. Mainly due to ds3 who was up several times in the night and meant I had sod all sleep plus it was really warm. I ended up being slower than normal and felt quite dizzy at times. I am actually due to see the Dr on Tuesday anyway to ask for a cardiac check up.

Rest day today. I'm in such a grumpy mood as well.

517.3

Whowouldfardelsbear · 13/06/2015 11:25

Did my first park run this morning! A very cold and frosty start at 8am (it took me a couple of attempts to get out of bed). I got a time of 31.58 (though it took me about 30 seconds to sort my barcode out so I'm hopeful on improving on that next time!).

It was a really nice route - a there and back along a compacted gravel path through some lovely native New Zealand bush. Was my first run done without headphones too.

So that's a 3.1 from me 520.4

HalleLouja · 13/06/2015 13:06

3.1 parkrun miles from me. 523.5. Not the fastest but not a million miles from my PB so will take that after the horrid hiit class yesterday.

Louey I would try and draw a line under yesterday, enjoy your rest and move on to the next run. Sometimes runs can be amazing. Quite often they are pants. Feeling dizzy doesn't sound much fun. Maybe take it easy next run and then see what the doc says.

lastqueenofscotland · 13/06/2015 17:06

Just 1.31 from me today but all sprints and happy with it.
New shoes and knee taped and feeling good! Actually looking forward to my 12 mile lsr tomorrow, dp hates exersize and thinks I'm mad 524.63

Blatherskite · 13/06/2015 17:19

parkrun from me too. 3.1 miles makes 527.7

phlebasconsidered · 13/06/2015 17:20

4 from me but miserable in the rain and very slow. Plus I think I am injured. Well, I know I am. My outer left foot aches when running and it now hurts walking as well. I can't remember twisting anything. I have iced and elevated but it still hurts. I am meant to be grading for martial art tomorrow as well. What with this and the chest infection my speed and distance have plummeted and the hmmm seems impossible. ??

phlebasconsidered · 13/06/2015 17:24

Half marathon even. And Sad
