Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

I've done the fitness test and legs workout this morning. Found the legs workout hard and decided to take it easy after that and finished off with the stretches. Now to get on with potty training. Think I'd rather do the legs workout again!

I may have to get this to do on the days I've worked all day and have dc so unable to go for a run/gym!!

Floopledoop · 24/02/2015 17:47

Warm up, fat burner and tone and burn done today. Also walked to baby yoga and back which involves up and down a huge hill both ways so my legs are arching again today

stevienickstophat · 24/02/2015 18:05

Well done all!

I had to force myself tonight, and this thread was my motivation, so thank you Flowers

I've done warm up, fat burner, abs and total stretch.

I love the stretch. It's so relaxing and watching Bendy Ed is very diverting

I snigger like a school girl when he says 'I'm a bendy man'.

HemanOrSheRa · 24/02/2015 18:42

Fat burner, tone and burn and most of the total stretch done. I didn't do the last rep of stretches because I got a bit fed up Blush. Taking the dog out for a march around the block in a bit so that's me done for today. Might have a days rest tomorrow or just do the fat burner. I think it might be good as an afternoon energiser.

Showy · 24/02/2015 18:55

I did fat burner, ultimate fat burner, box fit, legs, ultimate fat burner, ultimate abs, tone and burn today. Mix of 5 and 8k weights. Did some extra weights for 10 minutes and went for a 20 minute run. I am stressed and channelling it. I am not a bendy woman. I am tired though!

bryonyelf · 24/02/2015 19:07

I know the work outs are 7 minutes long but is there lots of waffle in between? My copy is on its way from amazon and I'd like to do a couple of them each morning. Something like warm up and fat burn but I literally have 15 minutes available.

stevienickstophat · 24/02/2015 19:12

No waffle - all the seven minute sessions are on the menu separately, so you just choose what you want to do.

Blimey Showy! Well done!

HemanOrSheRa · 24/02/2015 19:26

Bryony the warm up is in with the fat burner section. The whole section is just over 12 mins long including the 2 minute disclaimer at the beginning. I've just checked it for you.

HelenaVagBasket · 24/02/2015 19:45

Anyone going to be brave and do (faceless) before and after shots with me? I am going to take a photo of my belly tonight and again in a few weeks.

stevienickstophat · 24/02/2015 19:49

Bless you, Helena, but there's no way the world is ready for the Stevietum Grin

I've been doing the 15 minute DVD for a week now, alternating every other morning with a Pilates DVD. I bent down to look at something on the bottom shelf of a shop today and groaned out loud as my thighs ached so much! Embarrassing! Definitely feeling the difference already in my thighs and also my sides and bottom.

FairyPenguin · 24/02/2015 20:05

The thing is, something is always aching now, depending on which workout I've been doing. When I get fitter and more used to these workouts, will my muscles ache less? Or will they always ache because I'm working them?

stevienickstophat · 24/02/2015 20:14

I'm not sure, Fairy, I've never really reached that stage Blush

I think when it gets easy is when it's time to step it up so your fitness keeps increasing though.

I started this yesterday and it's brilliant - at last, a workout that even knackered old asthmatic me can do without wheezing my lungs up for an hour afterwards. Absolutely loving it (and aching in my thighs, shoulders and core...)

stevienickstophat · 24/02/2015 20:24

It makes me happy that so many of you are saying you're loving it!

Auburnsparkle · 24/02/2015 20:26

I am loving it but even after 7 minutes Fat Burner am absolutely worn out. Tell me it will get easier? Also what size weight is everyone using?

HemanOrSheRa · 24/02/2015 20:41

I was using a very weedy 0.5kg weight Auburn but bought a slightly less weedy set of 1kg 'Davina' weights from Argos today. Davina is using her 2kg weights. I have dodgy shoulders so don't want to injure myself. But I also really do not need to bulk up in that area, being blessed with big shoulders, upper arms and BACK FAT, shaping and toning is what I need. I was considering getting a kettlebell to do the lift exercise in the fat burner. I think that would work Hmm.

Showy · 24/02/2015 20:49

You will stop aching as horribly as you do now. You get to the point where you really have to mix it up and push it HARD to ache that much. It's a fine line. Bit of soreness means your body is adapting and changing shape. Too much soreness and it can feel a chore. Best advice I can give is to not let your body become complacent. Your muscle memory will trick you into letting it get easy. Good thing about this DVD is that with 10 separate workouts, you can really challenge yourself. Change it up once it gets too manageable. If you are really sore, ease off that muscle group for a day and let it heal.

Weights wise, I tend to use 5kg for the two-handed ones and 8kg for the single weight ones but I've been at this fitness lark for a few years now. Start with 1-2k and work towards 3k. I think with weights as part of HIIT, I like be able to do all of the repetitions but the last few should be a bit of a challenge. Any weight will tone you so if you're just using 1kg you're still working, but if you want definition and shape, try a bit heavier. Remember too, if you build a little bit of a muscle base by using some heavier weights, you will need more calories in order to use them. Basically, you'll burn more calories because you have bigger muscles. So if you have weight loss as a goal, building some muscle will only help. You'll look nicely defined too.

I'll put a picture of my stomach on here if it helps you feel less alone doing so? I think it's good to see pictures of what women really look like and what working out post childbirth can achieve.

stevienickstophat · 24/02/2015 20:51

I'm on week 3 and it's definitely getting easier, auburn

I still get puffed out and sweaty but I can do three or four bits. I could only do one plus a warm up when I started.

OP posts:
Cecyhall · 24/02/2015 20:52

Did this for the first time today, did the warm up, fat burner and half the tone up one.

What I liked best was that he does the repetitions on one side and then moves after when you've had a chance to get what you are doing - I've had so many DVDs that want me to do a trillion different moves in quick succession and I'm not coordinated enough but this was ideal.

And Davina didn't even annoy me (and I'm well known for my usual Davina dislike).

Auburnsparkle · 24/02/2015 20:53

Blimey 8k! I have a 2k weight but would like to work up to something a bit more in time. I have had dodgy shoulders so don't want to push it too far just yet.

I already cycle, do about 10km 5 times a week, but my legs are great but other stuff not so good. And high intensity stuff like this still exhausts me. Must be getting old! I would like to tone up and lose a bit - but also need much more stamina clearly.

Showy · 24/02/2015 20:58

There's a picture of me at 8 months pregnant on my profile. Can that be my before pic? I can then claim I've lost oooh 20 odd inches from my waist. Grin
