Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

I will, once the kids are in bed! Probably just one, as I'm supposed to be painting the living room too

CQ · 18/02/2015 18:27

So, I have dodgy knees at present and need to strengthen my outer and inner thighs to realign the knees. But need to avoid squats for now as knees too weak and painful.

Will the legs workout be lots of squatting?

AmazonGrace · 18/02/2015 19:08

Yes, ths leg workout is full of squats and lunges.

MargotLovedTom · 18/02/2015 21:01

Are you dieting too Stevie?

Did you see any little changes after only three days? Wink

HelenaVagBasket · 18/02/2015 21:50

Did the ultimate fat burner tonight. I was starting to think it was too hard but then before I knew it, it was over, yay! I'm another who hates the disclaimer at the beginning. I am also warming to Davina, especially when she says about her bits cracking and popping! I get that too, but I am only half her age....

I am also hula hooping for 10 minutes a day as I have seen lots online about how it sorts your belly/waist out. It's actually quite fun.

ItsaTenfromDen · 18/02/2015 22:34

Changes so far........ aching muscles:)

Helena hula hooping is good for the waist because you have to keep bending down to pick the hoop up cantbejustme

BigRedBall · 18/02/2015 22:53

OMG I did it at 6pm tonight. Ultimate fat burner. My thighs and buttocks are aching. They feel like jelly. Is this normal? Much easier than 30 day shred. Will this help with my jelly belly?

SheHasAWildHeart · 18/02/2015 23:27

I walk up to my office on the fifth floor rather that take the lift and usually by the time I get there I think I'm gonna have a heart attack today I managed it fine - thank you to Davina and Ed!!

CynthiaRose · 18/02/2015 23:33

Right, fat burner, abs and stretch done. Not too sure about my knee, so taking it fairly easy. Will try others tomorrow.

McFox · 18/02/2015 23:36

I'm feeling tempted to join in Smile I used to lift with a personal trainer and loved it, but now I have an 8 month old and a husband who works away during the week, there's just no chance of getting back to the gym properly. Add starting back to work in a few weeks, and I need a 7 minute way of de-jellying!

So, what I need to know is, is there a lot of jumping? I live in a flat and I don't think that my downstairs neighbours would be too enamoured with me leaping about above them of an evening! And do you need much space?

CookieMonster101 · 19/02/2015 05:20

There is a bit of jumping in fat burner but not too much. Don't need much space thank goodness.

I just woke up and my legs are absolutely aching! Will need to really force myself to do it this morning!

CookieMonster101 · 19/02/2015 05:23

I've only done fat burner so far and you don't need too much space which is good. Jumping was limited too.
Just woke up and my legs are aching! I can't believe how sore they are after just one work out. Will have to really force myself to do it this morning

Justtrying · 19/02/2015 08:44

Missed out on it yesterday but did walk for an hour instead, fitted the fat burner in before breakfast today. Very tight calf muscle but that could be from the combination of cycling on Monday and quite a bit of walking up and down hills.

Determined to keep some form of exercise up everyday until I go away in 15 days time. Having the Davina video on my iPad means I can do something in hotel rooms whilst I'm away with work, which is too often at present.

Swimming lesson to work on technique and stamina tomorrow then a weekend at home so guess might have dd watching my uncoordinated efforts.

HelenaVagBasket · 19/02/2015 08:46

Den Yeah and picking up all the things that the hoop knocks over because it is huge and my living room is not...

Major leg and bum ache today, so I assume that means it has actually done something!(using muscles that have not been used in years.)

CookieMonster101 · 19/02/2015 08:57

Ok did fat burner and stretching. Thought about doing abs as well but I was exhausted after fat burner and quite sore. The stretching was lovely for my sore legs though!

Going to walk to work and back today as well so should be 3-4 miles.

Moodykat · 19/02/2015 09:03

I didn't manage it this morning. Turned my alarm off and now running hideously late! In fairness though, I had a crap nights sleep and went to bed far too late. Tomorrow is another day though and there is always tonight I suppose.

ItsaTenfromDen · 19/02/2015 09:55

Rest day today:) I say rest, a nice 8 hour shift on my feet to endure, that's enough exercise for me today

Back on it tomorrow

Good luck everyone

Floopledoop · 19/02/2015 10:10

Dvd arrived yesterday, warm up and dat burner now completed! Baby was in his swing seat watching me with a mildly disgusted expression on his face. He is now having his second breakfast so will do abs work out after he's done. Need to buy new sports bra for ginormous breastfeeding boobs as had to hold then for the running bits!

Am sweating like a pig now (nice!) so will turn the heating off!

AmazonGrace · 19/02/2015 10:10

Well I was all keen on sharing my 6:50am workout with my fellow workout warriors but couldn't get onto Mumsnet. Bah!

Anyway, up and at it this morning, put the DVD on and it came on where I'd left it so no faffing with the introduction this morning.

Can feel it on my legs today, so might do one of the other sessions tomorrow to give them a break.

Oh and as of yet non-one in the house knows. Ds was back from gp last night so I managed my workout before he got up this morning Grin Going to see in a few weeks time if anyone notices.

Floopledoop · 19/02/2015 10:11

*fat not dat!

stevienickstophat · 19/02/2015 10:30

Well done, everybody! I don't think there's any problem with having rest days - I had two in the first week and still felt the positive effects.

I'm going to try to do one workout today, but I have a stonking hangover Blush so if I don't manage it, I don't manage it. I'm not going to beat myself up. There's always tomorrow.

OP posts:
Auburnsparkle · 19/02/2015 11:31

Apparently rest days are essential to allow muscles to repair themselves. I don't think anyone would be expected to exercise every day of the week.

Floopledoop · 19/02/2015 11:43

Managed abs and the leg workouts. Knackered now! Not sure I was doing the abs one properly, quite hard to watch the dvd, do the exercises and keep an eye on the baby and the dog! Will do the tutorials again next time I think.

chocciechip · 19/02/2015 11:49

PeaceOfWildThings · 19/02/2015 12:07

Day 6 in the PeaceOfWildThings house coughing workout. Still not ready to join you with Davina.

No rest days for me either though! Coughing is a pretty amazing workout for abs and back muscles. These new muscles seem to be telling me so, anyway!

Well done to everyone who has started this and carrying on. Keep it up!
