Week 5 run 2 done tonight.

I am now the proud owner of a very achey pair of legs!

I am rather nervous at the thought of trying to run for 20 minutes without stopping on my next outing - scheduled for Saturday.

Well done all and thanks for the words of encouragement, cinnamon greyhound.

I did an hour's Pilates at lunchtime - LOADS of leg exercises - and then walked 6 k on the way back from work so that's something over 2 hrs 45 mins exercise all told today. My legs are fecked Grin

Iwish - you will be fine! I remember looking at that run and thinking I would never be able to run for that length of time. But you will be able to. And you will! It's as much about your head as it is about your legs. Honestly! Smile

Returning to C25K after a summer break. Delighted by the dark evenings which means no one can see me pottling round the streets!

Have gone back to W3 and completed r1 and r2.... Delighted because when I started earlier in the year W1 nearly finished me off.

Bought new sports bra to prove I mean it this time.

Cannot believe how much more positive I feel about things after just going running twice!

Am v Envy of those of you who have well behaved dogs who run with you .. is there a podcast for this I wonder

Just back from my morning run - decided to push myself and do week 4 run 1 which was harder work than week 3 Grin. Nearly double the running. But managed all right and now I've found my Nike plus thingy I could do timing so could tell during the running parts I was doing about 5:30 to 5:45 per km. If only I could keep that up for a whole 5k I'd be fine. Think I'll do all three runs of week 4 before scary week 5 with the 20 minute run though Grin

MirandaWest that's impressively fast!

I did Week 4 Day 2 today - MUCH better than yesterday. I only took one of the walking breaks, the 2.5 mins before the final 5 min run. Felt good enough then to do a bit more so ended up doing 5 k altogether without stopping and with only one more walking break. Very slow, 34 mins in total, but felt a lot better than yesterday. And it's a gorgeous Indian Summer day here in London, blue sky, blue river, swans, picture perfect.

Just done W5R2. My flipping podcast died on me again! Thankfully I had listened to th beginning and was still able to do the proper times.

Have now listened to W5R3. I'm scared! 20 mins!!!!!!!!

I will be doing it on Monday and it's the run my friend comes over for. Would really rather do it alone. She runs faster than me. Which isn't hard!

Iwishiwasmoreorganised - (love your name - could be written for me!) - good luck tomorrow! Let me know how it goes!

Thank you Cinnamon, BIWI and Drama, your encouragement really does help and is very much appreciated, same to all on this thread, it honestly helps.
Just finished week 5 run 1. Dripping! Grin

Buda - you will be fine! Everyone fears the 20 minute run, but you will be able to do it - it's all in your head. And you will feel fantastic and so pleased with yourself when you've done it!

Brilliant, Dawn!

BIWI - I have spent the afternoon thinking they must have it wrong and have missed a session or two out! Going from two lots of 8 mins with a 5 min recovery walk straight to 20 mins?! Surely they have missed two lots of 10 with a walk and then a 15 maybe. Surely?!

But I will try it. I will. Wish I was doing it on my own though. I will say to friend that I am just going to plod along at my own pace.

I know! It seems really odd, especially as after that you go back to shorter runs. But it really does work - once you know you can run for 20 minutes, the jump up to 25 minutes doesn't seem that bad.

Did W1R3 again. So pleased I did. Almost gave up at the beginning but once I committed to it, I did really well!

Am planning on making sure that the first run of the new week is sans buggy. I figure there must be a way of getting 30 mins without the baby! I'm hoping this will make the move to the next level less scary. I'll let you know how it goes :-/

Just run for the longest time (31 mins) but rubbish distance (4.2 K) Still, I paced carefully and felt good all the way through, so That's the main thing I guess.

Week 5 run 3 done Grin

My breathing was fine, but by Jove my legs ached! I put my t-shirt on backwards so that irritated me all the way Blush

Out on Monday for week 6 run 1. I've not looked what's in store for next week!

Started c210k picking up at week 9.

2x 20 mins runs with little break should in theory be easier than 35 min run right? Not so much. Staggered home. Promptly threw up. Went to bed. Slept 12 hours straight. Legs ache today.

Treadmill training definitely easier than great and hilly outdoors.

Well putting your t-shirt on backwards kind of fits with your name Iwish!
Well done for doing r3! I did w5r1 this morning and (whisper) it wasn't that bad!! Obviously it wasn't great but it felt manageable so feel really chuffed.
Hope you are feeling better MnotM can you face doing it again?
Have never tried running on a treadmill - not sure i would have the coordination (seen too many youtube/you've been framed type videos where people fall flat on their face to want to try). My route outside is very flat- couldn't cope with hills!

Parkrun again today and missed pb by 8 seconds this time, so annoyed at myself!!!!! 5th lady though but only out of 14 ladies!

originalpiratematerial - I listen to comedy from Radio 4 and 4 extra mostly. Lots here

This morning I did week 2, run 3, while listening to last night's Now Show. Such an enjoyable session - laughing, being outside, feeling good. I'm really, really enjoying it and can feel the benefits already. Can't wait to do week 3.

Smile

Still low-carbing, which is also contributing to the general feeling of well-being.

I got in a right muddle this morning. First of all I couldn't find where I was in the podcasts so took ages to get started and then found I had skipped on to Wk 5. Decided to go with it, then after running for 7 mins I discovered I had not pressed Start on Endomondo which annoyed me greatly.

So I decided to abandon the whole podcast thing for today and instead did 5 km listening to my own music, mainly running but a few walking breaks. Insomnia by Faithless is a brilliant track to run to - I was on a massive endo high by 5 km and grinning like a loon at all the Hackney Hipsters (who looked like they'd been up all night).

So tomorrow I think I'd better finish Week 4, and then start Week 5 properly later in the week when my brain is in gear.

Mairead I did a 5 to 10k thing last year - it was basically one shortish run per week, one run that involved doing some bursts of faster running (very hard for me) and one longer run per week. I took, like, FOREVER to get through it as I kept repeating bits of it but I got there in the end.
