Blush At eetraceyluv! Wink

Hi to all newbies!

The chimp is still winning in the morning nextphase Blush but I did go to the gym today and had another go on the treadmill. Tried the stamina podcast, but it just doesn't work for me with a static view. So I've been plotting some more routes on Mapmyrun. DH built us a dog ladder for the car last weekend to help the ageing pooch back into the boot. He runs well with me but then just stares helplessly at the back of the car when we finish Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 25/09/2013 21:48

Sorry you are in pain MsVestibule!

My hips are the only bits of me that ache if I get aches IwishIwasmoreorganised.

I think I remember you MirandaWest?

Well done Dawndonnaagain!

Welcome Pamsie

Hope you feel better soon DramaAlpaca! I'm still blowing my nose a lot.

Went Tuesday am with headtorch and dog lights but only needed then first 10 mins. Also saw a herd of deer whih was awesome, included a white one :). Going again tomorrow at 6.15 if you need a virtual buddy watchingout!

Cinnamon I live very rurally and you are tempting me from the treadmill to the great outdoors!

Welcome new people, I have found lots of help and support here, and I've only been coming for four weeks. Which reminds me, Thank you, everyone!

lizardqueenie · 25/09/2013 22:57

Thanks for that Ripping- do you find it a bit more comfortable now with your new trainers? I'm slightly worried that they may also look at the size of me & laugh but then I think a bit more sensibly & think at least I'm doing something about it & being active.

Hi Pam- I'm a real newbie too- so we are pretty much in the same place at the mo!

Can't sleep at the moment despite a real busy day at work today & wondering when I can fit run in tomorrow & whether I should attempt a road rather than treadmill run...hmm Wink Those of you surrounded by lovely countryside & woods I'm very Envy- especially running with your four legged friends Smile

MirandaWest · 26/09/2013 07:32

cinnamon I did post on couch to 5k threads when I was running about a year to 6 months ago - am hoping I am as successful this time :)

RippingYarns · 26/09/2013 07:41

Lizard, I doubt very much that will happen, it didn't to me and I'm fat. Size 16-18 (not for long though)

It's made an enormous difference, I'm now looking for inserts to go into my everyday shoes as now I know how I walk etc, the answer to lots of my aches and pains lies in my gait.

mkmjimmy · 26/09/2013 11:38

can I join in? Been running since about March - ran 3 and a bit miles this morning in about 40 minutes (there's hills involved!). And feel good and vv smug afterwards - but can't always motivate myself to leave the house and run 3 times a week. Maybe being on here will help....

DramaAlpaca · 26/09/2013 11:39

Lizard nobody has ever laughed at me either. I've had nothing but positive comments when I'm out running.

Ripping I have inserts for my everyday shoes and my runners and they've made all the difference. I no longer have aches and pains in my knees or my hip.

I am feeling much more cheerful today, btw. Thanks for all the support Smile. nextphase thank you - that gives me confidence I won't have lost all my hard earned fitness by the time I am fully better.

RippingYarns · 26/09/2013 11:47

Drama, where did you get yours from please?

I was looking at some in Boots (oh, the irony Grin ) but they all described under-pronation (using the inside edge of your foot) on the packaging and I over-pronate (use the outside edge of my heel)

MirandaWest · 26/09/2013 12:10

Did my run today and intending to go and run tomorrow as well (haven't been too achy yet - long may it last)

cinnamongreyhound · 26/09/2013 13:13

I was here then MirandaWest Blush originally did c25k in Jan 2012 and still hanging around!

You definitely won't have lost it all DramaAlpaca don't fret just get well :)

Such a lovely run this morning, although my naughty greyhound ran off twice and we had to wait until he came back into view again but no one for him to annoy at that time of day just wildlife!

I'm off shortly - trying to see if I can shave 18 seconds off my time so that I can get to 29.59!

MirandaWest · 26/09/2013 13:22

I originally did couch to 5k in 2009 I think :)

originalpiratematerial · 26/09/2013 15:58

Hello all who've joined since I last checked in Smile.

I started Week 4 this morning and found it quite challenging! I was a bit Blush about this as it's only four months ago that I was regularly doing runs of between 5 and 10 kms. But I did enjoy it and I'm hoping that this time around, building stamina slowly but surely will serve me better in the long run.

New running shoes are great - going up a half-size has been very helpful.

BIWI · 26/09/2013 16:00

Woo hoo! Managed 5K in 29.52 mins!

Very pleased with myself Grin

EeTraceyluv · 26/09/2013 16:01

BIWI that is impressive! I will try to get 35 mins this weekend Grin

Dawndonnaagain · 26/09/2013 16:26

I'm having to change my days this week, so this morning, to get things in sync I did a 20 minute job. 5 minutes running, intended to do another 5 and just kept going, got to 8 minutes. Am amazed at myself.

MirandaWest · 26/09/2013 17:02

Well done BIWI :)

CiderwithBuda · 26/09/2013 17:28

Well done BIWI! And Dawndonna!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/09/2013 17:46

Well done BIWI! I remember my first sub 30 min 5k very proud Grin

Fab Dawndonnaagain!

OP posts:
watchingout · 26/09/2013 18:33

Did you have a good run Cinnamon?! Wink

BIWI · 26/09/2013 19:28
Grin

First sign of madness, cinnamon ...

I'm dead chuffed. I had worked out that part of my run, alongside a river on a very narrow, muddy path, was probably slowing me down, so decided to miss that bit out and run on the main path (even though that is a lot less beautiful!)

That definitely helped, but looking at MapMyRun stats, my whole run was quicker - not just that small bit. My last km was the slowest, at 6.12 minutes, but the others were all 5 something - which is a real improvement.

I'm constantly amazed as to how it's possible to get faster every time you run. And this has been the case right from the beginning, which is why the programme works so well!

And Dawn - really well done! It's fantastic when you make those breakthroughs. You're definitely on your way to becoming a runner!

watchingout · 26/09/2013 20:09

Wow BIWI! You got me looking at today's stats - I did 8.08 min per km Blush Seriously impressed by your speed

DramaAlpaca · 26/09/2013 20:26

Well done BIWI and DawnDonna!

Ripping my insoles are custom made orthotic ones from my physio, who's a foot specialist. They were quite expensive, around €250 (Ireland) but so worth it. I switch them from day shoes into my runners, but they are a bit narrow for my runners so I'm thinking of getting another pair made to fit runners when I can afford it.
