Will post the race list later on computer.
Come one, come all. We are a band of maverick posters who run, talk about running, and talk about other stuff, mostly life, large pants, and questionable children's artwork. Come and join us if you dare! Disclaimer: we are actually the friendliest thread on MN. Fact.

Just marking my place before I go and get dressed (PJs and dressing gown - not naked).

peachLFDTsmuggler · 04/01/2012 08:58

How exciting, a running thread in which I might actually, gulp, run, and not just talk about the contents of my bowels.

My predictions for this thread are...

fanny, will enter 3 marathons, and Hoover up her children
Rhet, will run round Ireland with new baby jogger stopping only gor guineas and oysters
Wheely, will spend all her Costa vouchers in one go and disappear into caffeine heaven
shred, will enter, and win, the Turner prize with DS's "cock art"

etc etc ; )

This is no way to get away from
Your bottom posts peach but thanks for the new threadGrin

On the subject of pants I actually wear some really cheap cotton pants from peacocks which I initially bought to have a
Bikini wax but seem to suit running too !

Last day of DD1's holiday here - she is trying to persuade me to enter the doors of hell known as Mcdonalds. The plus side is their coffee is suprisingly nice AND my loyalty card is finally full so am due a free one (am such a Mcdonalds Scrooge its taken me about 2 years).

Those of you with 6/7/8 year old girls - any hits from Christmas ? It is DD1's 7th birthday on 24th and can't come up with any ideas.......

bonkersLFDT20 · 04/01/2012 09:32

Wheely I don't have any DD's but my sister just LOVES it when I buy her 3 girls lots and lots of teeny tiny Sylvanian family things for every Birthday and Christmas. Snort.

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 09:43

I bet bonkers - what a kind sister auntie you are Grin.

I don't think sylvanian families is for her sadly Wink. She's never played with the lovely wooden dolls house we bought her when she was 3 and has just passed it on to dd2 who loves it (and I strongly suspect will love SF when she's had enough of all the peppa pig playsrts that fill our house).

We're thinking of maybe a shuffle but still have to think of things from assorted relatives.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 04/01/2012 09:53

wheely, my 8 year old niece got this (although in pink which I notice is sn extra £15 Hmm) and she is very taken with it

Marking place . I have awful trouble with pants/knickers when running but don't think I can stretch to £16 for posh ones!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 04/01/2012 09:57

Agree wheely, that McD's coffee is suprisingly ok but their slop food is vile. Have been known to partake of their McFlurries however which are so wrong but I do like them.

Marking place - just about to go to the dentist for a replacement filling Sad.

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 10:00

Good idea peach but we bought her a digital camera for Christmas which has video on it. Terrible that the pink one is so much more Angry

I have managed to rope in another victim for the mcd trip so at Least I have another adult to talk to whilst the kids run amok.

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 10:00

Good luck shred

bonkersLFDT20 · 04/01/2012 10:03

Wheely Inline skates?

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 10:15

Ooh that might be an idea bonkers ....

fannybanjo · 04/01/2012 10:18

wheely I also second roller boots. John Lewis has some ace retro ones.

peach we have shitgate II...!! I laughed my tits off at your post. Grin let's hope turtle don't pop it's head on your 3 miler.

moshi best be back on here soon - she now has Internet (according to FB!).

marathon training needs ramping up kids. I need to be doing 5 runs a week to get the best chance of sub 4 hr or even better sub 3.50z I have my next HM in 2 weeks so I'm thinking get a 22 miler in this weekend. Then once a month pre marathon aim to do a long run between 18 and 24 miles. I'm not sure whether that would lead to burn out pre race though? So far doing similar I've felt very fit so can't see why it can't be done. I'm not just training for a marathon - its a whole lifestyle thing too iykwim.

fannybanjo · 04/01/2012 10:20

John Lewis ones are called Stateside wheely My neighbour's DD has them and they are great,

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 10:29

These fanny ? They look v. Cool. I think this might be a good idea from my parents actually but like these or inline ? I love these as they remind me of when we were young but are inline better ?

fannybanjo · 04/01/2012 10:33

What shoe size is she wheely? They do a retro one too but only start from size 3. Yes they are the ones I meant. DD1 had inline and much prefers the roller boots - they are more stable. Inline take a lot of getting used to.

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 10:44

Oh yes seen those - she's actually only an 11 so even the ones I linked to will be a little bit big but she could wear big socks.

You lot are great Grin - just need to find some bits from the uncles and we'll be sorted. I love it when a plan comes together Grin

fannybanjo · 04/01/2012 10:47

DD1 got a plasticine set for £10...!!! Now my kids are fussy buggers but she's loved this!

N4NNY · 04/01/2012 10:52

All this knicker talk am I the only one who runs commando style Blush

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 04/01/2012 11:01

Signing in

Mmmm mcdonalds coffee ... Might have to go and get one

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/01/2012 11:03

ha ha N4NNY - yes! Shock!! Well, obviously there might be others. I'm a comfy m+s cotton knickers girl. Though I need some more - I never used to get holes in my knickers before I started running. I must have acidic groin sweat - eeuw!

If you need any more ideas wheely, my 7yo loves those little craft sets to make jewellery and stuff - beads, friendship bracelets, little purses that are no use to man nor beast, that kind of thing. Her friends seem to love them too, always very percussive hoovering their room after the girls have been making crap craft.

She also has a much loved shuffle. She's going through a Judas Priest phase at the moment...

RunnersFestiveTipple · 04/01/2012 11:12

Disclaimer I did buy v expensive running knickers in the sale. But I used to wear cotton M&S ones and got horribly sweaty, my lovely big bum ones wick away the sweat, and on a cost per wear basis are really not too expensive (she says trying to convince herself). I mean I wear (and wash) them four times a week. I don't think I could run commando, I'd feel naked Grin.

Did a lovely 3 miler this morning, and tried some fartlek after the fast mile, so managed to get each mile faster.

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/01/2012 11:15

that's good going runners! I've got to do some speed work tomorrow, atm can't imagine it.

Your first line ends on "my lovely big bum"! Great to have such body confidence, I thought :)
