Well done orangehead! How do you feel after finishing?!

stickylittlefingers · 10/09/2011 16:21

orangehead that sounds like my kind of race goody bag! And great that you didn't need the loo as well, and kept on going despite the heat AND had a sprint finish. Well done!

Went to parkrun again - my shiny new friends are still friendly! Took it nice and slow today, given I don't want to get any injuries now. Still was 2nd in SW35-39, so I guess we all were taking it slow.

Meant to be doing a faster 6 miles tomorrow, but I'm getting funny little aches and pains so maybe will take it easy again. I think I might have acute laziness...

DD2 just ran up - she's wearing her new favourite shorts with a tricky button - "Quick Mum undo my shorts I'm desperate for the toilet". She is putting fashion before practicality the way her mother never would...

Thanks for all the kit-purchasing tips! Going from 4 to 5 outings per week seems to have put too much strain on my current collection. I might get some winter bottoms - my brother swears by his.

rhetorician · 10/09/2011 16:48

well done orange that sounds just the ticket

I've acquired at least 4 T-shirts this year to add to the mouldy pile - SLF I have 3 pairs of Ronhill tracksters (I have a feeling they are boys' ones, as I am a short-arse) - cheap, comfy and really do last forever, unless you allow a cat near them...

OP posts:
sfxmum · 10/09/2011 17:00

orange well done and pub grub better than yet another t-shirt cereal bar comboGrin
I meant to say, that if the situation in the family wasn't so awful the silliness at work would likely not get to you as much, let them bitch about it it is their problem if they don't get along and terribly unprofessional

did 3 miles, not very well, was shouted out by a gentleman in a BMW 'say thanking you you F*ing cow' because he allowed me to cross in front of his car as he got out of his private drive about to get into a busy road, and I was obviously not demonstrative enough in my gratitude
I superiorly ignored him

futurity · 10/09/2011 18:26

Well done Orange! You did fab and with a sprint finish as well..I never have the energy for those! Free sandwich sounds right up my street!

rhetorician · 10/09/2011 19:38

sfx I think that 'gentleman' in that case does not apply. Arsehole, more like.

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 10/09/2011 19:44

Orange well done! Shame you didn't feel tip top but still great time.

sfx cheeky f*cker - I would have flashed me arse at him! Wink - that would have made him choke. Some people think the world owes them.

rhet what a shame you can't adopt DDs. You never know, the law may change but I doubt it, they still have a very antiquated abortion and adoption law, am I right? As in if a child goes into care, both parents have to sign for the child to be adopted? Madness.

sticky ONE WEEK TO GO! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm shitting myself. Literally.... Grin I think I will on the day, you will know where I have been as I will be leaving skid stains all along the course.

crappy day of running for me today. Awful. TOTM gets me every time, my legs refuse to move, my head spins when I run, especially if it is sunny. Went out this morning at 8am - all intentions of a 10 miler. 3 miles in, stopped and walked home as was shaking. Been out for DD's birthday party today, came home, decided to go out to try and at least get last LSR run before GNR. Again got to 3 miles, turned around and walked back. Legs like bricks. The things we women have to put up with - no wonder men are faster, they reckon it's because of muscle mass, I disagree, it's the fact they don't have to run with hormone situations.

fannybanjo · 10/09/2011 19:49

DrNo don't worry - I too have pink attire (only couple of tops but trying to make you feel better). Mainly because I buy bright stuff for winter so that the tractor with the blind Farmer driving it doesn't kill me when I when running down the lane! Also, if something is on offer, I don't care what colour it is, I just purchase as running gear bloody expensive. However I draw the line at pink socks.... Wink Come on woman, tell the truth, you left your white ones in with a red towel didn't you?

rhetorician · 10/09/2011 20:08

thanks for support, everyone, didn't mean to hijack. Civil partnership means that we are much more secure than we were, so that's a start, at least

sorry about crap run fanny - you will be fine on the day with your times and the effort you've put in. One training run isn't going to make a difference at this point

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 10/09/2011 20:14

Thanks rhet - nothing like a shite run though to throw your confidence... I am sitting here thinking I should try again tomorrow night but it's not going to make a difference is it? By the way, you bloody hijack all you want! Grin this is a thread for us to discuss our lives - we are women, mums, daughters, sisters who run - would be boring if all we did was discuss our times!

orangehead · 10/09/2011 20:17

DrNo I was a quite disappointed that I found it such a slog would of liked to enjoy the atmosphere a bit more but instead just wishing to over. But really pleased.
sfx yes probably I think I probably felt a bit crappy too as coming down with the cold. Feel tons better emotionally today just got the shivers now. What a horrid man Shock
Sorry you didnt have a good run Fanny, I was trying to work out what totm was then it clicked. You made me laugh with the flash your arse comment, I can just imagine the face Grin.
I am not really into pink either. My favourite top is bright orange, you cant tell its my favourite colour.

peachsmuggler · 10/09/2011 20:19

Orange, I think you did fantastically well! Lots of positives in there, not least the pee situ and the sprint finish. Great going!!

sfx, what an utter arse that man was. People like that really wind me up, but they are obviously unhappy people and deserve our pity, as well as our scorn!!! Grin

fanny, your posts do make me giggle. Sorry bout the crappy run, as you say hormones can have a bug effect. Tee hee on skid marks!

Don't worry bout hijacks Rhet, thread is about all types of support, other than running!

Have booked my Caballo Blanco ticket! Very excited. Bet I will feel all inspired, and then will remember that I can only just sbout run for the bus!! Ha ha

fannybanjo · 10/09/2011 21:48

How you feeling peach? you due late November?

Ah don't worry 'bout my shite running day, as long as I've burned enough calories to eat the Mars Bar and 2 Corona's I've just demolished then I'm laughing...! Wink (ignores the Mcdonalds and pizza consumed also today)

orange Orange is a funny colour on me, I either look like I've had the trots for a month or it gives my skin a caste of cuprinol. There are reasons why I stick to black and grey....

bonkers20 · 10/09/2011 22:10

Well done Orange! I have raced with people who honestly sound like they are about to die....yet they beat me! I think some people just sound like struggling steam trains. But yet, take your inhaler next time you daft mare!

orangehead · 10/09/2011 22:17

I promise to take inhaler next time bonkers, glad others sound bad too.
Fanny I had mcdonalds after run, chinese for tea and just had a bag bag of crisps Shock

peachsmuggler · 10/09/2011 22:18

Feeling good thanks Fanny, just tired all the time. Due 18th nov and getting to the uncomfy stage, having to keep knees apart to tie shoelaces, difficulty getting up off floor after getting down, that sort of thing! DD2 spent most of day using my cervix for a trampoline, which was...erm, not very pleasant!

peachsmuggler · 10/09/2011 22:20

To clarify, DD2 is still in utero! Otherwise that would just be plain weird...

orangehead · 10/09/2011 22:23

Times on website official time 1 hr 5 mins 49 secs Smile

bonkers20 · 10/09/2011 22:28

Well.....remove the potholes and you'll be looking at a sub 1hr! Easy!

fannybanjo · 10/09/2011 22:35

orange 'tis carbo loading love, carbo loading... Grin fatfannyfailstoconvince

peach I'd like to say oh and ah how lovely but after having 3, pregnancy shenanigans make me quite panicked that maybe one day, I may miss my pill and BAM the Banjo's multiply again. I'd torture myself slowly with a blunt Stanley blade - it'd be easier than a fourth! However 2 dd's - BLISS!! Just stick at two if you want to keep any sanity....Wink

rhetorician · 10/09/2011 22:39

fanny we are already celebrating the fact that DP never has to do this again in this house, and no mistake! too bloody old, anyway - although DD's love of jumping in the air ("BIG jumping, mummy!') need for endless hopping demonstrations, plus desire to be lifted on my legs (think abdominal crunches with 28lbs of weight

OP posts:
rhetorician · 10/09/2011 22:40

...(jumped the gun, posting-wise) mean that I don't think I need shredding or plyometrics or anything much except running. Have a horrible feeling that it's going to be foul out tomorrow (130kph winds, etc) and that I will wuss out of my 10 miler.

OP posts:
orangehead · 10/09/2011 22:51

Aren't I supposed t do that before the race not after Fanny.
Be warned after ds2 I was adamant that I would never ever have another, but 8 years on here I am ttc again

DebiTheScot · 10/09/2011 23:03

Eeek I'm worried about the wind. I've got a cycling race tomorrow!

bonkers20 · 10/09/2011 23:13

Debi Get thee to bed then! Is the race in a circle?
