To feel so fucking depressed and angry about brexit?

I'm Scottish. I voted to remain. It feels like nothing I vote for matters. I despise Farage and Johnstone. I despise the call for sovereignty certain parts of England still believe in. I despise of the right wing media.

I really feel this country is fucked, unless you have money behind you and beside you.

Yanbu.
I could roar at the self inflicted damage that Brexit is doing to the UK.

And bought to us by wealthy individuals who will never suffer the fall out Angry.

malfoylovespotter · 11/11/2019 20:42

It depresses me too.

English, living in a Tory stronghold where my vote only ever counts in local elections where the Greens are in.

I hate Johnson and Farage but the thing I'm most furious about is the Corbyn is the Labour Party leader as I can't bear him either. I can't vote for him - he's partly responsible for Brexit for sitting on the fence because he isn't a remainer.

I feel so despondent.

Trewser · 11/11/2019 20:45

We moved abroad to get away from it, the uk will never recover from this and we just couldn’t see our children’s future going down the pan

Nobodies future is 'going down the pan'.

Where have you moved to as a matter of interest?

KenDodd · 11/11/2019 20:45

I'm English I voted to leave. It feels like nothing I vote for matters.
Are you taking the piss? Or do you seriously believe that? Even bit of political energy over the last four years has been spent trying to deliver the ridiculous decision you made, something that according to the vast majority of experts will cause enormous damage. Real damage to real people.

MockersthefeMANist · 11/11/2019 20:48

another land border hassle to sort out if Scotland goes independent. (sigh)

Well the UK will certainly be keeping Rockall, and RNB Clyde may well become a sovereign base on the Cyprus model (the nukes will thus be out of Scotland, as promised.)

Saxa Vord and Benbecula might also be retained, and then there is the prospect of a Scottish Northern Ireland, say Lothian and Borders with a Union-voting majority.

It's all going to be such fun.

Hazardd · 11/11/2019 20:51

dirty You and every other leaver will get your rat haired, corn syrup, American chocolate soon enough don't worry but my partner isn't getting his European made medication now because no one will commit to European/British contracts.

Your vote mattered. Your vote had impact. Yet you are not the one dealing with the consequences.

kitk · 11/11/2019 20:52

YANBU OP. I'm devastated by all this! I second a PP who says at least Scotland will get independence though, so it's not all lost for you. Can I claim asylum in your spare room though?

Justanotherlurker · 11/11/2019 20:55

Unfortunately people like simple black and white answers when it comes to politics and the Brexit messaging gives people just that. A lot of people simply do not have the time or desire to contemplate the fact that the country we live in and it's problems are actually very complicated and can't simply be solved by Brexit.

You can replace Brexit with Conservative and you have the majority of pro labour posts on MN. Somehow though if you do replace it, then the thread would be full of anecdotes and looking for nuance as to why its wrong.

LittlePickleHead · 11/11/2019 21:01

I can't believe MNHQ are STILL moving brexit posts away from the main board, at this crucial time when the future of our country is hanging on a knife edge?

Do they really believe the majority of people should be protected from reading about this? This affects all of our real lives!

Justanotherlurker · 11/11/2019 21:02

Think this sums up my point about just as much division has been caused since the vote, and it clearly shows it isn't just leavers who are just reading headlines and not really understanding what they are railing against, it punches a massive hole in the narrative that all remainers are more educated for a start.

Justanotherlurker · 11/11/2019 21:10

They should, because it is a usual shit show of vocal remainers getting on the soap box, spewing out tired old tropes and just wanting an echo chamber.

There are many mediums to argue brexit, there is also a reason why it has caused divisions across political parties, hint, it isn't some smug superiority or faux sadness and children crying over their future.

There is a reason why it has caused political crisis among all political parties, and it can't be summed up with posters trying to repeat 3 year old talking points under the guise of being sad.

Trewser · 11/11/2019 21:11

I tend to agree. Some of these posts are ridiculous.

Hazardd · 11/11/2019 21:15

just i just read headlines? Is that slang for speaking to doctors, pharmacists and MPs?

Trewser · 11/11/2019 21:16

Yes, we can read about it in the news thanks. Noone on here has any special clever knowledge!

Wimbledonna · 11/11/2019 21:22

Yep. My favourite so far:
We left the country, we had to. For anyone left in the UK your best years are now behind you Grin

Cameron2012 · 11/11/2019 21:24

I was saying to my Mum this evening, expectations of politicians have never been so low.
I don’t know anyone who expects them to act with any honesty or integrity.

Jellykat · 11/11/2019 21:25

Of course Farage never gets on a soap box, he's such a quiet retiring kind of chap..and Johnson and his cronies never ever use the tired old tropes 'taking back control' and reclaim our 'sovereignty' over and over and over and over again, do they? Hmm.. but thats okay eh Trewser and Just because they echo what you want to hear..

Trewser · 11/11/2019 21:26

Nope. Voted Remain and fairly depressed about Brexit. But not to the levels of hysteria seen here. Thank god.

Trewser · 11/11/2019 21:29

your best years are behind you

Give me strength.

Shoutymomma · 11/11/2019 21:39

YANBU. I am sometimes alarmed at how miserable it makes me. I feel we are going to hell in a handcart. 😩😩😩

Tolleshunt · 11/11/2019 21:40

YANBU. It’s incredibly upsetting and depressing. Perhaps worst of all it has fundamentally changed my view of my fellow countrymen.

And if we’re on the subject of ‘tired tropes,’ I for one am suffering ennui at the fact we can never have a thread to discuss our feelings about what is a seismic shift in our future expectations, without clever dicks coming on to sneer. We’re allowed our feelings, thanks. They are sincerely held, and it is unkind and not terribly mature to mock.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 11/11/2019 21:49

I'm with you OP. The last 3 years have been disastrous and it's getting worse.

I just hope when Brexsht finally hits the fan Brexiters for once take full responsibility*

Of course they won't. We'll be hard pushed to find many people who admit to voting Leave.

I try not to be angry with those who voted Leave originally because many were misled but I am enraged by those who still think it's a bloody good idea.

I live in Essex so you can imagine what it's like here.Sad

UserX · 11/11/2019 21:52

Yep, here come the brexit thugs. RIP this thread.

FWIW my children will never be able to get a good state education or own a home in this economy. This is already happening, it’s not some kind of chicken little catastrophizing. Hundreds of millions poured into Brexit planning while nurses have to use food banks to feed their families. Unbelievable that anyone could defend this.

user1471519931 · 11/11/2019 21:53

YANBU totally agree, it's a catastrophe for me personally as well as for the country generally. Will be voting accordingly on 12 December

Trewser · 11/11/2019 21:55

Could they before Brexit?
