Brexit

In all likelihood, what do you think will happen?

I have spent months hoping for a PV and then May revoking A50, and I still would like that to happen, but I’m starting to think now that she thinks there are too many people who just want Brexit no matter what!

I THINK that there will be an extension and then still no one will be able to agree on a plan. I can see a General Election being called soon as well-maybe with increased support for a centralist party?!

I’ve literally no idea anymore - that’s what terrifies me. I can predict sales of tinned tomatoes going up, but that’s about it!

Peregrina · 27/02/2019 18:07

Crash out. But then I have been wrong before, I didn't think Soubry would jump ship and she did.

As for a GE, under the Fixed Term Parliament Act May can't just call a GE. Whether the other MPs would be stupid enough to vote for it is debatable, or whether they would say, no, stop ducking the issue, get on with the job. We'd still crash out though.

GloriaSmud · 27/02/2019 18:33

Crash out (and I've thought so since the end of October last year.)

teyem · 27/02/2019 18:36

I think we'll get an extension and then more arsing about.

SalrycLuxx · 27/02/2019 18:38

Crash out. Possibly after a short extension.

Peregrina · 27/02/2019 18:42

Do you think Crash out, which I would see as a disaster plus a quick plea to be readmitted is a possibility?

If so, I think our days of whining for special deals would be over.

Littlespaces · 27/02/2019 18:43

I have absolutely no idea, but the default position is crash out.

I keep waking up worrying about it.

ReaganSomerset · 27/02/2019 18:44

I think there will be hell on Earth, the sky will crack open and winged monkeys will fly down through a rain of blood to harvest our organs. Screaming will fill the air and people will rip out their own eyes in pure anguish. Of those that survive the monkeys, the ones who require hospital care or regular refills of medication will perish first as it becomes unavailable, then we will all starve to death while the world looks on. It will be like scenes from The Purge as people ransack and pillage with abandon. No one will trade with us, they'll wait for us all to die and then Germany will send colonies to repopulate our once proud nation. We are all doomed.

HTH

It will be like scenes from The Purge as people ransack and pillage with abandon.

So, like Christmas shopping then?

Littlespaces · 27/02/2019 18:48

A little insensitive seeing as some very ill people are extremely worried about dying.

ReaganSomerset · 27/02/2019 18:50

@Littlespaces

Hey, don't blame me - I didn't cause this.

GirlsBlouse17 · 27/02/2019 18:52

I think there will be an extension for a couple of months and then support for a second referendum will grow in Parliament when there is still no majority for any deal in two months time.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 27/02/2019 19:24

I reckon that there will be sufficient tweaks to the backstop that May will manage to amass sufficient support for her deal.

McWilde · 27/02/2019 19:28

No idea, but pretty sure there’s going to be massive amounts of dicking about, May going back again for ‘talks’ and ‘assurances’, etc etc, until we go over the cliff.
If it was up to Government they’d still be there arguing amongst themselves in 10 years time.

Bluntness100 · 27/02/2019 19:30

It's very very clear we won't crash out. If her deal does not get through on the 12th, you will see it confirmed in the 13th,

So it's either her deal or a delay. I couldn't predict which way it will go...

BloggersNet · 27/02/2019 19:34

Definitely not revoking, I don't see that happening. Possibly extension unless by some miracle tm manages to whip enough support for her WA.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/02/2019 19:48

I wish I had your optimism, Bluntness. But as you seem to talk sense in general, I'd like to think you're right on this!

Holidayshopping · 27/02/2019 19:50

It's very very clear we won't crash out.

I honestly don’t feel that anything is very clear anymore Confused.

PersonaNonGarter · 27/02/2019 19:52

We will leave with a deal. It might be delayed though.

Peregrina · 27/02/2019 20:47

May's deal isn't a deal though - it's just an agreement to start the next phase of the process.

bellinisurge · 27/02/2019 21:06

I imagine WA will pass and all the BeLeavers will amp up their story about how shit stuff is everyone else's fault. Especially Remain voters.

Stripyhoglets · 27/02/2019 21:15

We won't crash out (pretty hopeful now Tories have started jumping ship and rebelling) and there will be a delay and eventually May will get her deal through as it will start to look like Labour might get a people's vote agreed so the erg will eventually worry there will be no Brexit at all if they aren't careful. The EU won't give ground as luckily they treat keeping the peace on the island of Ireland as more important that the Brexiteers do.

Frenchfancy · 27/02/2019 21:20

I think May will ask the EU for an extension and Spain will Veto it so there will be no deal.

MillytantForceit · 27/02/2019 21:24

Extension. Then an extension to the extension. Then a Tory palace coup when May asks for more time, general chaos and a caretaker govt of odds and sods who do a deal for the Full Norwegian.

Peregrina · 27/02/2019 21:38

We need both more and less than the full Norwegian - Norway isn't in the Customs Union, which we have to have for NI. But they are in Schengen, which we and Ireland have opted out of.
