Brexit

WA or No Deal?

Asked this on a few Brexit threads and didn't get an answer so asking it separately.
Bored of listening to bad winners whining about Juncker and evil EU and all that tedious bollocks. It's come down to this binary question and which is it.
As someone who voted Remain, I prefer shit deal over no Deal.
No Deal would be a humanitarian catastrophe.
Which is it for you?

Oh yeah, and I know that WA isn't a deal it's a way forward to a deal.

I would prefer to Remainbut the deal is better than no deal

MrsTerryPratcett · 02/01/2019 06:37

No deal if it meant people very quickly saw the error of this course, backtracked, the EU welcomed us back and all was forgiven.

And she woke up and it was all a dream...

WA then if we must.

bellinisurge · 02/01/2019 06:43

Do we get extra bingo points if some numpty comes on and says "it's a Remainer's Leave"?

What's WA (sorry i usually stay away from the brexit threads) all I can think of is western Australia 😂

bellinisurge · 02/01/2019 06:51

Withdrawal Agreement- Theresa May's option that is about to go before Parliament for a vote.often called her Deal although it isn't a deal. It's a path to a negotiation.

No deal, afterall Brexit means Brexit. Time to face the music.

bellinisurge · 02/01/2019 07:17

I will admit that part of me feels like that @GhostofFrankGrimes but I just can't bring myself to wish it on people.

I’m a staunch remainer and desperate for this whole stupid farce to end. But I don’t think TM will win the vote and we’ll crash out with no deal.

F U Nigel Farage. I hope you rot in hell Angry

bellinisurge · 02/01/2019 07:24

@Triglesoffy - the grown ups in Parliament will stop crash out. They'll find a parliamentary way of doing it. Yvette Cooper and others are already working on it according to reports.

bellinisurge

If you know a ‘no deal crash out’ is not going to happen why have you even started this thread? Are you hoping some ‘numpty’ turns up so you can have an argument?

Have you really got nothing better to do? Hmm

xebobfromUS · 02/01/2019 07:41

If one has a choice between leaping into the dark unknown three months from now or leaping into the dark unknown two to four years from now then of course it is better to have that two to four years of relative normalcy that you otherwise wouldn't have.

If May simply can't get the WA through and no-deal occurs in March then you have to hope the UK sees the light and asks / begs to be let back into the EU before it becomes absolutely destitute.

TheElementsSong · 02/01/2019 07:44

This is my position too.

RevokeRemainReform · 02/01/2019 07:55

As my new username suggests, I'm still holding out for revoking A50 and remaining in the EU. I'm not giving up yet. So I'm hoping the WA is voted down again and again and TMay is somehow forced to revoke.

BeardedMum · 02/01/2019 08:00

I think with WA the leavers will never be happy and keep blaming Remain and the EU for all ills.

I am hoping for revoke of course. Part of me is hoping for a no deal and for the leavers to finally come up with a plan and show us a way forwardGrin

bellinisurge · 02/01/2019 08:07

@surferjet , I want to see what the MN Leaver mood is. I hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
But if you don't want to answer, that doesn't surprise me.

I want to see what the MN Leaver mood is

Why? So you can argue with a leaver?

Personally I want to crash out with no deal.

I’d love that.

bellinisurge · 02/01/2019 08:33

@surferjet . Petulant this morning aren't you? No I don't want to "argue with a Leaver".

For those keen on a 'no deal' you may wish to glance through the government's own predictions for no deal and WA scenarios.
It takes a bit of reading but (spoiler alert) there are no mentions of 'sunny uplands'

Thanks @1tisILeClerc and Misti whom I thanked on the original thread. Something to read over lunch, thanks for the spoiler alert too SmileConfused

Personally I want to crash out with no deal.

Any particular reason for that? What do you think the advantages are over doing that vs Theresa May's WA?

nuttynutjob · 02/01/2019 09:28

I want Revoke because we have that option.

YeOldeTrout · 02/01/2019 09:57

the leavers will never be happy and keep blaming Remain and the EU for all ills.

^^ THAT! No matter what happens, the Leavers will keep blaming Remain & EU for anything Brexit related that doesn't go well. They will never accept that Leaving itself is inherently a bad plan.

bellinisurge · 02/01/2019 10:36

I frankly don't care about the whining as long as we avoid No Deal.

OP posts:
spacechimp · 02/01/2019 11:34

Completely agree bellini - I’m a committed Remainer, but if it’s a choice of WA or ‘no deal’ then I will accept the WA. After almost 3 years of angst and despair over the whole situation, combined with low level anti Brexit campaigning, my only concern now is to avoid ‘no deal’, both because of the harm I fear it will cause to myself and my family, but because of the harm it will cause others, however they voted
