What are Remainers ( the type that post on this board regularly ) going to do once the tories win the GE?

Because they are going to smash it, landslide victory, & all of that.
The libdems will crawl back under their stones, Labour will implode, & TM will get on with Brexit without annoying interference from people trying to stop it.
What are you going to do?

Well I don't really post about it much about it on line really. But we are planning as a family how we will move forward into the future. I spent a fair time in the phone to my 80 year old Dad yesterday explaining how it is affecting his Granddaughter and her partner's plans and that there is a chance they may need to emigrate in the future and that if they go we may well go. He is starting to get his head around the fact that as a dual national I am British but I am just as much another nationality and that when he consented to my Grandfather getting my second passport when I was a child something was set in motion that had repercussions 40 years later.

I started the ball rolling with my EU passport renewal yesterday. DH and I are having lots of discussions and are making plans fir when DS leaves school in 5 years time. So yes we are getting on with our lives . I always thought my life would be in the UK but I'm now not at all sure and will just keep my head down , get on with things and see how it pans out, with an open mind to leaving. I'd be off tomorrow if I could but don't want to disrupt DS's education.

So yes getting on with living our lives bit not sure now if our future lives are here anymore.

Sadly, the vast majority will just have to suffer as May hands over the NHS and education to private companies - none of whom will pay a penny in taxes here. Those of us who went through the 80s have a pretty good idea what's coming.

I'm a Remainder and I don't know what I'm going to do tbh, apart from sitting with my despairing head in my hands, which I have been metaphorically doing for the part 11 months. I'm still stunned by the utter reckless stupidity of the Tories and speechless at the level of public support they seem to have. Dismal times

I'm just interested in where remainers go from here really - starting a reverse UKIP type party is something I'd be looking at tbh. If the other parties can't deliver what you want you need to do something else.
Look at France. Their party in charge was unheard of only a year ago. But is there enough demand?

To me if we leave and attempt to rejoin the EU later we will be very much at the bottom of the pole not an equal partner as i feel we are now

I think we would be forced to accept all sorts of things that other countries are and wouldnt have a big say in EU deals

I could be wrong, i have never said i am an expert on any of these issues

I only put a cross in a box I personally shouldn't be trusted with big decisions

I don't understand what you're point is, tbh. Are you saying that if someone votes in a different way to the majority of the country, they should just shut up? That they're not entitled to their opinion? Because that's a really odd way to look at democracy.

I don't have much power, all I have is my vote and my (very quiet) voice. But that doesn't mean I'll give up, it doesn't mean I'll stick my head in the sand and stop caring about things. I wont give up on my country. You might think its humorous that someone wastes their time arguing on the internet, but then what are you doing here? When are you going to "get on with your life?"

I am hoping that the Conservatives don't "smash it", but I fear that they will. A massive landslide is not healthy for democracy, not when there are such important decisions to make. I don't hold that opinion simply because its the Tories.

But due to the election being a snap one, there hasn't been much time for that sort of thing to be organised. Everything has been cynically done to boost May's chances as much as possible. The party that knows an election is coming has an advantage over the parties that have less than 2 months to organise, and all major parties have an advantage over independents and smaller parties.

I find the suggestion that people who protest, campaign, express disagreement whether in RL or online are somehow stuck and not getting on with their lives odd to be honest. I am doing both of the above while getting on with my life and enjoying the day to day stuff I always have. Do people really think that we are sitting in a room angrily firing out post after post and refusing to engage with our normal life? Why would you think that? I am happily carrying on with work, being a mum and wife, drinking wine with friends, going to the beach at weekends now the weather is warming up in my part of Europe etc as I always have. Why would I let the kamikaze actions of others interfere with my life anymore than it already has?? . I am able to balance this with my ongoing complete and utter belief that the result was the wrong one for the U.K. For what it's worth I also don't believe that 52% of the British population spent the last 40 years unable to think of anything bar their loathing of the EU.

Another thing I find odd is the level of anger shown by so many prominent Leave voters. Seriously - why? You really do need to move on. Us Remainers have a reason to feel anger and want our voices to be heard. We who feel strongly that we should have remained are never going to agree with the result - that's OK in a democracy - for goodness sake deal with that and move on!

In real life, life goes on, but seeing as everything we do is affected by a change in government I don't know how you can just ignore it.

In my personal life, well we'll have to see if we vote with our feet and join the line out the door of disgust. Which we can do noisily.

You'll have to thank everyone who does. It makes it easier for people to get highly skilled jobs and makes those migration figures look better.

You might not have a doctor you can afford or people to lead industry but that's all cool.

I've just heard Labours leaked manifesto - I agree with all of it! I want Jeremy Corbyn in power but with TM's commitment to Brexit.

surfer TM winning the GE isn't going to change anything. The situation will remain the same as it is now wrt Brexit.

It wouldn't make any difference if she had a 100% majority; the negiotiations with the EU aren't going to be affected either positively or negatively. Just because a majority of people here support her that doesn't mean we'll get what we want.

Apart from anything else TM has deliberately promised sweet FA so she can't be held accountable for anything.

Why anyone would be prepared to vote to give her that privilege is beyond me.

Me personally? Get another passport. Put some money aside in case my job goes down the brexit toilet. Continue to support any UK political party with a pro European stance, and contribute to campaigns seeking to secure the position of EU citizens in the UK and vice versa.

There is nowhere for us Remainers to go. There never has been. But if you think we will stop criticising each new fuck up that arises from Brexit you are sadly mistaken. It's called democracy and British sovereignty: all those things that Leave supporters voted for.
