Because they are going to smash it, landslide victory, & all of that.
The libdems will crawl back under their stones, Labour will implode, & TM will get on with Brexit without annoying interference from people trying to stop it.
What are you going to do?
Carry on getting angry online?
Carry on demanding answers from internet strangers?
When will you just get on with your lives basically.

That's why I carry on with the Westministenders threads. In the hope that we do get the charismatic leader we need who can unlock that and start making the difficult decisions we all need for a secure future - regardless of the Brexit question. May's not it. But I'm not sure who is either.

Please do, Red, they are such a lifeline at this time. All the links to all the important information end up there. I am really grateful for it all.

I wonder whether some of the anger directed by Leavers at people who don't agree with them is down to irritation at sensing that even though they achieved what they wanted, it feels like a hollow victory because nobody respects them for it

I think this is very insightful.

The size of Theresa's majority is of supreme unimportance outside the UK. No one is going to look at her and says, "hey, she won 45% of the vote, gotta take her seriously!" any more than they are going to care very much that Macron won the French presidential race with a 66.1% share.

They won't know and they won't care. And what's more, that fucking useless excuse for a PM will have wasted the best part of three months out of the 18 available for negotiations. If she was serious about a "good deal" there would not have been an election at all.

?????
What? It's remainers who are angry - leavers are just fed up with being told we're stupid. & as for no one respects us - it's only a minority of remainers in this country who have that attitude, most Europeans think we've done the right thing.

I don't know about the Remainers, but I am very scared at what Leavers will do as they discover their idealistic Brexit has been hijacked by a lot of Bankers and hedge fund managers (like Mr. May, for example) purely to make even more money for themselves.

It's frightening me how very angry an awful lot of people, Remain and Leave, are getting now and I wonder if that's the real reason Theresa May is steering clear of the electorate.

I don't share Surfer's conviction that only the Conservatives can be relied upon to take us out of the EU. Based on their track record, they will squirm and u-turn as often as they deem necessary and they have their own interests at heart, not "The People".
If it it suits them to do so, they'll turn without a qualm.

Why wouldn't they?
From what I've heard ( 1st & 2nd hand ) they admire us.
Millions of ordinary Europeans want out of the EU.

Why wouldn't they?! Because the stock market devalued, currency devalued. Inflation increased, cost of imports increases, major multinationals leave UK, growth forecasts downgraded ( bank of England) and that is before we have officially exited the EU. Am not sure where you got your insider knowledge of European views on Brexit but judging by last election ( France) wasn't it 60% maybe more of votes for Macron a pro European? Hmm

The Macron vote wasn't a pro EU vote, it was an anti far right vote, not the same thing at all.

Yes indeed, we are the pioneering beacons of liberty, everyone is speechless with admiration for our booming success, and the rest of the EU are going to collapse... any... day... now...

Your mates? Random people off the internet. A large scale poll? Do share the source.

Pro-EU sentiment has grown in five of the six largest member states, according to a survey by the Bertelsmann Foundation. These were the UK, France, Germany, Poland and Italy. The only large state to see a fall in support for the EU was Spain.

Im sure there is more.

Generally support for the EU has risen since the referendum, though support for further integration is dropping. We are leaving in part out of this far of greater integration that won't happen anyway because no one wants it. This pattern has shown up repeatedly in numerous surveys - just these here.

It's 2am and I have another bout of insomnia. So I'm going to introduce you to Brexit Santa.

You get promised that Brexit Santa is going to bring you lots of goodies down the chimney if you are good boys and girls and believe.

But as time passes you realise that Brexit Santa isn't like real Santa and those goodies aren't going to appear. But you keeping hoping that if you believe he'll.turn up eventually.

Brexit Santa still doesn't show. By now you've been going on about Brexit Santa so much you are going to look like a right tit for believing in him. So you keep pretending although now at the back of your mind doubt is creeping in. But you have to keep saying believe.

A bit more time passes. By now it's starting to dawn on you that Brexit Santa really isn't coming and you whisper to your nearest and dearest that actually you know he doesn't exist but it will spoil the magic of believing in all the nice things if you tell anyone else.

Yet more time passes and everyone is going, so where's Brexit Santa now? So you start shouting at them for not believing in the dream of Brexit Santa stopped the magic and ruined your hopes and dreams. This end up with you punching Gary and him ending up in A & E. You won though.

And that's why you can never kill Brexit Santa, because if reality shows up, it destroys the hope and dreams that people long for and cling to. People will cling to them long after they've found out that Brexit Santa doesn't exist because it's easier and nicer to play along than to realise that Brexit Santa is just a marketing trick by someone who wants all you cash.

Thing is though Brexit Santa doesn't just not deliver your presents. And he isn't a figment of your imagination. Trouble is he is a thing of a your nightmares who sends his henchmen round to round to nick your job, your home and your cash to pay for his nice new holiday home and shiny car whilst you polish coal.

Brexit Santa Blows when you find out the truth.
