Brexit

A thread for Leave voters to list the positives of leaving the EU

Seeing as the previous thread is nearly full and no one on it has given us a single tangible positive that we can expect from leaving the EU as opposed to staying I thought I'd start a shiny new thread with a thousand opportunities.

OP posts:

Take of the tinfoil hat A4. What dastardly 'plan' do the EU have?

And you honest to God believe that a Tory government are going to provide us with proper health care and proper rights for everyone? And what say will the British people have in a trade agreement with China? Zilch. We won't be a great sovereign nation. We'll just be a docking bay for mega-rich tax exiles and a US style hire and fire economy.

Global economic growth is slowing. We're not going back to the 1800's, dominating East Asia and the Indo-Pacific (through enslavement and genocide). Britain was not great then and it won't be great again - just a racist, divided, neoliberal shithole in constitutional collapse. I'm ashamed to be English.

JaWellNoFine · 20/07/2016 23:11

Merkel and others will be quite justified in giving us a shitty deal so as to discourage secession of other member states

Why would she do that? Surely no one else would want to leave the wonderful EU. There cannot be another country where half the population are ignorant, uneducated fools, not in the EU. Shock horror

So please explain why this would be an issue? Unless of course...maybe...the EU isn't actually that wonderful after all and there is in fact a huge problem with it. And many many Europeans DO NOT want to be a part of it and want out!

JohnJ80 · 20/07/2016 23:27

People will want to leave the EU for the same reason that they did here: because their ignorance and disenfranchisemt was exploited by racist nutters and demagogues. Or because they believe it's possible to magic the world back to 1945.

JaWellNoFine · 20/07/2016 23:32

Lol..so you are actually going with the ignorant uneducated fools theory. Fuck that's funny!

GreenishMe · 20/07/2016 23:41

Agree wholeheartedly Really

Corcory · 20/07/2016 23:44

John - you are exactly why Leavers don't want to participate in these sorts of threads and give their opinions. Apparently we have all been exploited by racist nutters and demagogues who have lied through their teeth - why would be bother trying to have a sensible conversation with someone like you?

JohnJ80 · 20/07/2016 23:46

Well, people who were educated were exploited by the Remain campaigners. It's not a theory....it's a manifest fact. How else do you explain the side of that bus?

The mind boggles.

Ilovemygsd · 20/07/2016 23:48

A lovely blue passport 😍

Ilovemygsd · 20/07/2016 23:49

No more massive bail outs

JohnJ80 · 20/07/2016 23:49

In fact, you can take the word of the Remain camp themselves on this. Not only were uneducated people targeted with crude propaganda but an actual VIRTUE was made out of being uneducated. People had had enough of listening to experts apparently. Facts and knowledge were openly repudiated.

So...it's not really a theory is it?

Ilovemygsd · 20/07/2016 23:50

Won't have to abide by eu laws, in particular farming

AntiqueSinger · 20/07/2016 23:51

Because you're not providing sensible answers? Despite being asked myriads of times to do so.

Ilovemygsd · 20/07/2016 23:51

The book will stop with the Government that's in power... No more passing the book. They will be accountable for fuck ups

Ilovemygsd · 20/07/2016 23:52

Hopefully.... The whole world will have the same hoops to jump through, points needed and boxes ticked to move here

A clue on the numbers of people needing, hospitals, doctors, schools, housing and other public services in advance

Ilovemygsd · 20/07/2016 23:56

Many are happy though, they can grow what they want/need and not what the eu tells them to, the subs had strings... Just saying

JaWellNoFine · 20/07/2016 23:58

Oh well if the super extra clever and educated Remain camp says it. .. Mmmm it must be true. Why didn't you just say that in the first place.

Pangurban1 · 20/07/2016 23:59

OurBlanche "Northern Ireland will only become bloody again if the people in any part of Ireland allow it. "

NI is in the UK. As such, anything that occurs there is occurring in the UK. Despite a majority vote in NI to remain, it is being brought out by a majority leave vote in Wales, but mainly England because of the population dominance.

The decisions of the government of the UK are the decisions that effect NI, and with that power comes responsibility to make decisions that support the progress so many have strived for. NI itself is not a normal polity like the rest of the UK. To simply shrug off the fact it is decisions made by those in power in Westminster that effect it's very stability is either ignorant or disingenuous.

JohnJ80 · 21/07/2016 00:00

But you have Corcory, I'm sorry. You were just being had big time - by 'elites' ironically enough. Just have the magnanimity to admit it.

No 350 million on the NHS
No 350 million full stop
No net decrease in immigration (and probably no exemption from EU free movement).
No Turkey joining.
Even less say over EU trade regulations.

What have you gained? Nothing.

JaWellNoFine · 21/07/2016 00:13

So if the EU are aware that there are so many disenfranchised voters who want out. Why are they not trying to resolve this instead of simply bulldozing their way through. Or do the people simply not matter as the people in question are the mere workers (and the EU does not stand for workers rights they are about pushing wages down to increase corporate profit. That is why freedom of movement is good. Not for people but for corporations. It is not good for the people at all. It's awesome for the top 2%, good for the top 20% but does nothing for the rest.
So if so many people are unhappy. What are the EU doing to fix this. They were not willing to do anything to ensure the workers in the UK were happy and stayed in the EU. They wouldn't give an inch.

So they resort to Blackmail. What a lovely bunch of people .. I totally want to play in their club.

And the trickle down theory is Bollocks.. and highly fucking insulting

Corcory · 21/07/2016 00:24

I didn't vote leave for any of these reasons John.

JohnJ80 · 21/07/2016 00:33

Of course everyone knows Junker is a c* and the single currency has been something of a fuck up. But we're not in the Eurozone are we? Or in Schengen? We were indulged with the best deal we could have possibly have hoped. Exempt from ever closer Union with access to a market of 500 million consumers.

The point is this: as much as the EU has been corrupted by neoliberslism (just like EVERYTHING has), it's better side constitutes the one of the last bastions against unfettered capitalism.

Look at the people who were campaigning for Remain: Gove, Fox, Patel, Leadsom - all neoliberal zealots who have talked enthusiastically about abolishing employment rights, climate targets and corporate regulation. All the 'red tape' they want to get rid of is regulation that protects workers from the worst excesses of capitalism. They envision a Randian utopia of entrepreneurialism but really Britain will be a big tax haven where employers can fire a woman for a daring to have a baby. And you think these people are against corporatism and exploitation? You think the Tax Payers Alliance are?

Okay, there were some people in the left supporting Brexit, but they were either loons (Galloway) or Bennite dinosaurs (Skinner). Anyone on the left with a brain, including Yanis Varoufakis, supported Remain.

JohnJ80 · 21/07/2016 00:36

No one's wage or living standards are going to increase as a result of Brexit. In fact, quite possibly the reverse.

Corcory · 21/07/2016 00:45

Lots of opinions by remainers here but no facts. The leavers have been constantly chastised for not giving facts on these threads!

Are you being ironic John, do you mean to mix up remain and leave?
