New Year challenge

NappyShedSal · 31/12/2010 20:55

I missed the Christmas challenge as my mum died and I spent a fair bit of time with her, then the funeral etc. So I have today listed 32 items and still have a few more to list tomorrow. So, shall we start a new challenge - what shall we make it?

Here's my listings so far
my items

Any tips / comments from you regular ebayers as to how to improve any of the listings? I've tried doing a BIN price with most of them this time - not sure if this will improve my chances and whether I've pitched the prices right.

I'm up for one too! Started listing yesterday.

ChildofIsis · 31/12/2010 21:38

Nappy it all looks fab.
Really clear, bright photos and concise descriptions.

I've bought a lot of clothes on ebay and some of the listings can be very poor.

Yours looks great.
Good luck, hope it all sells for you.

NappyShedSal · 01/01/2011 18:01

I had forgotten how much time it takes to sell things on ebay. It's good that I have lots of interest, but I have had 7 emails today asking questions - how much is postage to Turkey, USA etc If I buy these 2 items how much is combined postage? And lastly - if I buy both these sets of ORT books can I have free P&P? Is that rather cheeky - I think so and am going to tell them the true combined cost. But pleased as 4 items have sold already - so BIN works and spreads out the packaginga nd posting, but also means instant paymnet.

count me in lol.
Just tried relisting some stuff from my turbo lister and it keeps telling me there is a problem with my listing its either been deleted .....is a half.com listing or you are not the seller ...Duh none of the above but will keep trying think have three items on up to now :)
Good luck your listings are great:)

LoveBeingADaddysGirl · 02/01/2011 11:23

I need to get cracking with this very soon.

earwicga · 04/01/2011 14:18

Couple of questions:

What sells this time of year?

How often are the free listing weekends?

Had lots of succcess selling in Nov/Dec and am kicking myself I didn't get more on and I didn't start this years ago!

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 05/01/2011 01:18

I've listed some of our things tonight and scheduled lots of Lego City stuff for tomorrow night too. Listings here

truffleshuffle · 05/01/2011 08:56

Hi. I'm up for it! I've listed a few things over the past couple of days - only short listings as I need the money to pay my council tax - I over spent at Xmas and DP doesn't know Sad.
How do I link to the listings? I'm a bit crap with computers Smile

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 06/01/2011 16:29

Free listing weekend this weekend 8th and 9th January.

mogs0 · 08/01/2011 19:47

Nappyshedsal - sorry to hear about your mum Sad.

I'm up for New Year ebaying! I just met the target before Christmas but only scratched the surface in terms of the amount of stuff that needs to leave my house asap Grin.

Ds and I are going to Tenerife in Feb so I could do with making some spending money to take with us.

Shall we set a target of £250 by half term? Or is that a bit optimistic for this time of year?

NappyShedSal · 08/01/2011 21:29

Yes, let's go for £250 by Feb Half Term. I'm feeling very optimistic - have sold 6 items already which have come to £34.00. Another 20 are definitely going to sell which will bring it up to £98, but there's still a few days ago. And I've been listing more - 66 items in total.

We also want to sell our gates!! We have 2 sets of black wrought iron gates which would have cost a fortune I'm sure to put in, but are just not our style. Do you think they'd sell? They'd have to be collection only, but the hassle of digging them out of their concrete is putting us off. Would it be worth saying £25 off final price if the winning bidder took them out himself.

earwicga · 09/01/2011 05:53

Thanks Dinosaurs - will try listing what I have left.

mogs0 · 09/01/2011 19:43

What's everyone selling?

I have heaps and heaps of stuff but not quite sure where to start!

Nappy - your clothes look beautiful and have tempted me to put some of ds' outgrown stuff on. Also, re the gates, my friend was telling me recently that he bought some wrought iron gates off ebay for £200. I'm not sure that he dug them out of the ground himself though Grin but certainly worth mentioning the discount!

I'm thinking I should wait a while to list more toys though. I have an ELC wooden garage that has been waiting to be ebayed for at least 18 months. I'm on the verge of taking it to the charity shop.

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 09/01/2011 23:03

Nappy - I would definitely pay to have the gates taken out and then list them for collection only.

Mogs - We are listing anything and everything from clothes to toys to household items, lots are outgrown toys/clothes or unwanted presents - if you have lots of things that are the same type of thing I would list them at the same time and then move on to the next kind of item because you may get buyers of multiple items.

NappyShedSal · 15/01/2011 22:43

Well, all my listings have just finished. 49 have sold, 18 haven't (mainly the paperback books) and total sales equal £212.00. I am very pleased!! So I should easily meet the £250 half term target. I'm going to aim for £400 now - or is that just greedy??!

Tortoise · 15/01/2011 23:15

Ooh i was only thinking last night that it was about time for a new Ebay challenge. I see i was beaten to it Grin.

Sorry for your loss NappyShedSal.

I don't have much to list at the moment but will try and get a few bits on next week.

I won't make £250 by Feb half term though! Maybe by Easter! Grin

I want to make about £200-£250 so i can buy myself a HTC Desire mobile phone!

tyaca · 15/01/2011 23:34

i'm in. i hate selling so much, agree with nappyshed, takes ages to list. £250 by half term is do-able for me. lots of kids clothes and a couple of buggy boards and footmuffs.

it's never occurred to me to sell books - do they sell? and if so BIN or just for 99p? can't imagine a bidding war for a paperback Grin

and i also need to get some of those plastic bags for posting clothes from somewhere.

roosterroo · 16/01/2011 16:56

Would love to join in, have a surprise break at Half tern ,MIL has booked disneyland Paris for 2 nights !! Kids have no idea but could do with boosting spending money ,Smile

here's my my bits so far

SNOWBall4girlz · 16/01/2011 18:16

my stuff

Hi there, I buy my mailing sacks from ebay.
They work out cheaper if you buy a few :)

I have some stuff ending tonight but could not get internet access while on a break this weekend so a few auctions dont have the right pics fingers crossed anyway

SNOWBall4girlz · 16/01/2011 18:19

Was wondering when tortoise would see this was going to f/b you to let you know :)

so broke three birthdays already this year one is fil and he is 60

Tortoise · 16/01/2011 22:10

I have a pair of BNWT black trousers. Name on tag is Zaffiri and they are priced £65. Only problem is that they don't seem to make anywhere near that much on Ebay which is disappointing.
Also have a duck popcorn popper (sold one before Christmas for quite a bit, found this one in a charity shop!).
DS2 has Fifi 10 on wii to sell and i have a wii fitness one to list.

Hopefully will get time in the week.

SNOWBall4girlz · 19/01/2011 00:52

how did people do over the weekend?
sold five items
another three or four will sell and a couple of watchers for my items finishing tomorrow :)

663 items

SNOWBall4girlz · 19/01/2011 00:53

i wish 63 items lol

Tortoise · 19/01/2011 10:19

Wow, well done SNOW. Hope plenty sell. Smile
And it is Fifi forget-me-not or 'and the flowertots' not flowerpot. Grin

Not sure when i can list as i have lost camera lead and wireless box won't connect to wireless so can't use the laptop which has camera card slot!

SNOWBall4girlz · 20/01/2011 11:27
