New Year challenge

NappyShedSal · 31/12/2010 20:55

I missed the Christmas challenge as my mum died and I spent a fair bit of time with her, then the funeral etc. So I have today listed 32 items and still have a few more to list tomorrow. So, shall we start a new challenge - what shall we make it?

Here's my listings so far
my items

Any tips / comments from you regular ebayers as to how to improve any of the listings? I've tried doing a BIN price with most of them this time - not sure if this will improve my chances and whether I've pitched the prices right.

OP posts:

Sold 12 items (half of my listings) yesterday and made £178 !!!
Will re-list and add loads of listings of books and stamps.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 28/03/2011 17:23

Is it worth listing books mygirl? I have loads that I could put on, but was under the impression that you never make any money from them..?

Tortoise · 28/03/2011 18:59

Jareth I sold 3 items! TBH it is putting me off listing. Nothing seems to be selling well for me!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 28/03/2011 19:51

Oh that IS a shame...

I think I've been rather lucky actually, mine have been going OK, but I guess toddler clothes and toys always sell, don't they?

SNOWBall4girlz · 29/03/2011 02:55

I sold 6 things two to non uk when listing states uk only then they dont want to pay for insurance so goes t*ts up.

Tortoise it is just luck I have just sold something after listing it three maybe four times.

Got lots to put on but needs ironing and packing will make some time and get them on before thursday.

Nice one Jareth keep it going its boring sometimes but a means to an end :)

JarethTheGoblinKing · 29/03/2011 02:56

Ah, I think the Irregular Choice, Red or Dead and Mini Boden are dead certs :)

SNOWBall4girlz · 30/03/2011 00:22

Its doing my head in......will not let me list my two piece dkny set age 5 yrs as I have listed too many of this item this month......I know I keep trying to re list the same flipping set lol aaarghhh

SNOWBall4girlz · 02/04/2011 15:08

free listing today and tomorrow :)

c'mon ladies

Tortoise · 02/04/2011 15:15

I still don't. Think i can list for free. Will check though. Have a few bits to list/relist. Nothing worth much though.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 02/04/2011 18:17

Gah, I've got a huge pile of stuff to put on but can't quite get to it.. a kids helmet, a car stereo, a few clothes.. all different categories and boringly time consuming to list.

Willl have to crack on with it tomorrow eve though I think!

Tortoise · 03/04/2011 16:08

I now have a massive pile of children's books to sort out. Not sure if it is worth listing any though. There are some read it yourself books, magic key and famous 5 books.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 03/04/2011 20:22

Tortoise, I know what you mean... I have a huge pile of books, but not sure the 2 hours it would tkae to list them all is worth the minimal amount I'll get. May well just donate them to the Oxfam book store in town.

Listed a few more things tonight, mostly boys clothes, pyjamas, but there's a brand new helmet and a couple of other bits.

shop.ebay.co.uk/kekouans/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

overly excited about one of the irregular choice listings though, one of them has 78 watchers!

mygirllollipop · 03/04/2011 22:08

Have relisted and listed 48 items altogether - now have migraine.

Not sure if the books will sell well, I don't really expect so, but they've got to go. Could do with the money for the vet bill and to mend the fence.
I managed to replace DD1 and DD2's broken DS's so that's a start. Reckon I'll save up enough for a car? - lol.
Jareth - impressed with 78 watchers!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 03/04/2011 23:28

you got a link mygirl? Grin

Yes, I'm mightily impressed with 78 watchers, shame its for something I'm selling for my sister! (the shoes are all hers.. should pull in about £100, I'm taking my 10% cut though! Grin)

Tortoise · 04/04/2011 19:17

I have quite a pile of clothes to list! my local charity shop was selling off old stock ready to put new stuff out this week. Because I know them well, and was there close to closing, I was told to take what I like for £1! I came out with 2 massive bags full but I did pay £3 as I felt guilty! But she did say they would be chucking it out if didn't go. So mass listing to get on with this week and I once I see how much I make, I will donate some back to save the children.Smile

JarethTheGoblinKing · 05/04/2011 12:33

Some bugger won both of the boden t-shirts I had on, one went for 99p the other for 2.95 fgs. Obviously had to combine postage too so big shame about that one, was expecting a bit more than that.. hey ho!

TortoiseVEasterBunny · 10/04/2011 22:02

15 items listed . Will attempt to do more tomorrow or Tuesday (maybe better to do Tuesday 5 day listing to end same day as tonights listings?)

SNOWBall4girlz · 11/04/2011 17:49

my stuff]]

I am emptying all my daughters clothes and some toys on to ebay going to start bundling items up that do not sell third time round lol :)

SNOWBall4girlz · 11/04/2011 17:51

my stuff

TortoiseVEasterBunny · 11/04/2011 20:43

Hi SNOW. Yes, Ds1 was 14 on Friday! Shock My Birthday was a bit rubbish really. But i am used to that as a single parent! DD2 bought me a present from poundland. I was with her when she bought it though but she did use her own pound!

Will try and schedule items tonight ready to start them tomorrow night.

Has anyone got any girls shorts age around 9 to list? DD1 is desperate for shorts. None from last year fit! Smile

TortoiseVEasterBunny · 13/04/2011 14:41

I hate the DSRs. Had an email to say fallen below standard in one again. It does say I have a selling limit too and can't list any more items this month. Will test that out later! Not that the items I have listed have any interest! Really fed up of ebay.

mygirllollipop · 13/04/2011 14:48

Argh, having a few problems ATM. Sold something Weds evening, buyer asked as soon as item ended if I'd post 1st class instead of 2nd so I sent invoice for 1st. She then didn't pay 'til 5pm Thu when it was too late for me to walk to the post office before it closed. So I posted Fri 1st class, when she could have had 2nd posted on Thu.
Another buyer asked how much to send a specific item to Germany, then won two items. I sent a combined invoice, then they asked for a combined invoice, to which I replied I had sent one a few hours earlier. They said it didn't look like combined postage as it was 'more or less double' one item's postage (it was 90p less than double), that they buy from the UK a lot and have never paid such high P&P. I have explained that due to the weight of the items this is how much royal mail website says it will cost to post, adding a minimal amount for packing (~45p). Place bets on whether I now get two negs from this buyer.
I'm also having a problem as a buyer. I bought some mailing bags on the 6th but haven't received them so I messaged the seller and he said there was no record of payment via paypal - could I send him the payment notification. I looked in paypal and hadn't paid him but hadn't realised as it had been marked as paid (by the seller) so ebay weren't asking/reminding me to pay. I had been buying quite a few items and paying via paypal and hadn't realised I'd missed this one esp due to it being marked as paid. I tried to pay but couldn't find the links in the usual places (due to ebay thinking it was paid for), so I asked the seller if he could un-mark it as payment received, he said he couldn't do that and could I send payment to his email address. I found that I could un-mark as payment sent and had to do that before I could pay for the item.

I was hoping to post my items in these mailing bags so really could have done with them by now, don't fancy packaging my items up in the PO after buying more (expensive) packaging materials with the kids in tow.
Argh -sorry just needed to get that long winded rant off my chest.

Sorry Jareth I'm far too shy to link to my stuff !

roosterroo · 17/04/2011 17:11

Any body listing this weekend? Our schools only finished on Friday so I think a bit of a clearout is in order.

here they are shop.ebay.co.uk/lrud3454/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562

TortoiseVEasterBunny · 17/04/2011 17:59

I have all my items ending tonight and disappointed just how bad they are doing. Have more to list and might sit down and do some later.

SNOWBall4girlz · 24/04/2011 13:13

Well is it time for a new challenge ?
Getting all the summer clothes out and hardly any of them fit ?
Easter is nearly over and another bank holiday next week :)

Think they will be announcing a free listing weekend soon.
