New Year challenge

NappyShedSal · 31/12/2010 20:55

I missed the Christmas challenge as my mum died and I spent a fair bit of time with her, then the funeral etc. So I have today listed 32 items and still have a few more to list tomorrow. So, shall we start a new challenge - what shall we make it?

Here's my listings so far
my items

Any tips / comments from you regular ebayers as to how to improve any of the listings? I've tried doing a BIN price with most of them this time - not sure if this will improve my chances and whether I've pitched the prices right.

Tortoise - did you ever get your PS3 problems sorted out at Christmas - I remember you were having an awful time getting one returned for a full refund?

I've been busy again tonight with some more listings and another 10 scheduled for Sunday night as I've run out of time.
39 Items here

Tortoise · 09/02/2011 22:13

Dinosaur I had to trade in my DSi in local cex store and buy a PS3 from them with the money. DS1 paid part of it as it was just over £200 and too much for me to spend. Bought it just after Christmas. He was very good about it all luckily. Smile Thanks for asking.

I was meant to re-list some items but i forgot! Maybe tomorrow night! Grin

Tortoise, am relieved to hear that you eventually got one for him - did you manage to get your money back on ebay? Hope so.

SNOWBall4girlz · 11/02/2011 00:55

dino really not got an email yet :)
great lol x

Tortoise · 11/02/2011 07:20

Dinosaur yes I did get my money back minus return postage which I found a bit annoying. So I did lose out on about £30 overall.Angry

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 11/02/2011 09:41

Snow - Just double checked for you and it's definitely this weekend - my email came through at just after midnight but DH didn't get one until this morning.

Tortoise - that's awful, glad you managed to get one in the end but it shouldn't have cost you to return it, that's unfair.

PurpleFrog · 11/02/2011 10:02

Thanks Dinosaur - I haven't had my e-mail either... and it is only just been listed on eBay announcements (at 10.00am)!

SNOWBall4girlz · 12/02/2011 00:44

good luck everyone

I have paid the deposit on a euro disney trip with the girls drama group so every penny counts

NappyShedSal · 12/02/2011 08:28

I haven't had an email about a free listing weekend - drat!! Oh well, I haven't got time to list things this weekend anyway. But I listed a midsleeper bed last week which didn't sell, but then someone contacted me afterwards and made an offer which I excepted. They're collecting it today so that will bring my total up to £275 - yeah! But I was aiming for £400 - can we make the deadline the END of Half Term??!!

I wasn't going to do this challenge and wait til later in the year to ebay but have loads of stuff and DD1's Nintendo DS just broke.
So thanks to MN I have found out about the free listing and will hopefully lists loads!

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 12/02/2011 21:12

I've spent most of the morning putting even more stuff on - if you have or know any children that like Brio trains and track etc then take a look here

Think I've got about 100 more listings to do this month so I'll be busy scheduling more listings again tonight.

Tortoise · 12/02/2011 23:03

I doubt i will get anything listed this weekend. Can't think of anything i have to sell that i would have to start at more than 99p anyway.

notcitrus · 12/02/2011 23:11

10 items listed (4 are relists, or rather 'sell similar' so count as free listings...)
Bet it's too late for the ski boots which I wanted to list a month ago.

Have got 2 bin liners of ancient computer bits together for some hackers who actually want them. Or are actually scrap metal merchants in disguise; I don't care either way!

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 13/02/2011 22:03

Managed to get everything I wanted on this weekend so we now have 95 items listed! No more listing for me until the end of next week now, but lots of packing I think :)

Listings here

PurpleFrog · 14/02/2011 12:36

I never did get an e-mail about the free listing day - but managed to list 6 items yesterday - 3 were new ones and 3 were re-lists. I don't know how you manage to list 95 items DinosaursHateUnderpants - I never manage to get organised enough in advance to list all the things I intend to!

I have some bigger items I intend to advertise locally. I had been going to do it before Christmas but the roads round our house were so bad with the snow and ice that I decided to leave it. Maybe I'll try and get them done this week!

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 14/02/2011 19:23

Purple - get your DH to take all the photos one evening in the week whilst you play artistic director (like I do!) then download to your PC into an eBay specific folder the same night so they are ready and available. Put aside 4 hours (ask DH to watch the DC) and bang through them making sure that you list the similar things one after another so that you can use Sell Similar and change minimal details before listing.

I've now got a pretty rigid system for listing and the main part means getting all the stuff pictured and on the PC so that when I've got the time to list I've got the photo's and a huge pile of stuff in a bag behind me waiting to be listed. As each item gets listed or scheduled I weigh it for P&P and move it to a the spare room, and I don't have to look at it again until it's sold. Having a huge pile of things which have been photographed and are waiting to be listed is what it takes to get me into ebay mode :)

PurpleFrog · 14/02/2011 21:15

Hmm... the photos are usually the main stumbling block! I like to do them in natural daylight which really means waiting until the weekend at this time of year.

But I think the main problem is that I am a perfectionist and it just takes me soooo long to get all the "important" details included. Blush

SNOWBall4girlz · 15/02/2011 13:23

I try and be like you dinasaurs but nearly never happens :)
I take a pic or two of each thing and half pack and label so I dont forget what is in there and put in the spare room and promptly lose it just as it is about to sell:(

I have a balamory toy on that I put on for £15 that already has bids and watchers cannot see another like it on ebay.
I managed to get about 40 things on but still need to edit a ouple with the right details and correct photos.
here my stuff

SNOWBall4girlz · 17/02/2011 00:45

thank you will change it cheers :)

SNOWBall4girlz · 17/02/2011 23:02

Well changed the pic need new glasses,
Sold a bra sz 36 g but had it listed as 38 g

Have told the buyer to just send it back and I will fully refund the postage back as it is my fault :( dozy me

hve updated my auctions as going to add to them tonight but I am feeling so tired here

Tortoise · 18/02/2011 11:36

I have to get on with doing some listing!
Helped a friend clear her loft for moving this week and have a selection of toys to list and a bag full of baby clothes too. She was going to chuck them out!

Shame about the bra SNOW. Fingers crossed it sells again.

SNOWBall4girlz · 18/02/2011 11:48

I have this one on at he moment and can not see another one.

Its been discontinued apparently I put it on because it was free to list and have a bid on it already ;)

Tortoise · 18/02/2011 12:14
