New Year challenge

NappyShedSal · 31/12/2010 20:55

I missed the Christmas challenge as my mum died and I spent a fair bit of time with her, then the funeral etc. So I have today listed 32 items and still have a few more to list tomorrow. So, shall we start a new challenge - what shall we make it?

Here's my listings so far
my items

Any tips / comments from you regular ebayers as to how to improve any of the listings? I've tried doing a BIN price with most of them this time - not sure if this will improve my chances and whether I've pitched the prices right.

Seller beware I think you should have took it off.

Its not the buyers fault and you could end up getting a neg :(.

I overwrote an aution and forgot to change the price and it started at 99p and ended there too, someone got a bargain gutted but it was not their fault but mine.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 04/03/2011 20:44

friend of mine just got something for 1.04 that was worth £30-40 :(

Bid on ebay and hope you get the one your DS wants for a bit less perhaps?

Tortoise · 04/03/2011 20:51

yeah i should have taken it off. Sad Angry with myself. Maybe they won't pay!! Unlikely though. I can't see why it sold so low where others go for £40+.
Infact all my items that have sold tonight have sold low. Had hoped for more but nevermind.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 04/03/2011 20:53

link me? perhaps there's something in the listing? I don't know, I'm relatively new to ebay, but could take a look?

Tortoise · 04/03/2011 21:28

Thanks.
here
I know it had small bit of damage but only very minor and not enough for it to be a problem. It was fully working.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 04/03/2011 21:37

I think sometimes (and maybe this is just me) but the more swish a listing looks, the higher the possible price. Good photo's really help grab attention, plus as much information as humanly possible in a listing.

It may just be that there were a lot on ebay this week, and yours had superficial damage. Probably just bad luck.

I think having this degree of information wouldn't hurt.. ( I always check similar listings when I'm posting for things I might not have thought of mentioning)

HTH

Tortoise · 04/03/2011 21:44

Thanks. Will have to chalk it up to experience i guess.

SNOWBall4girlz · 05/03/2011 00:38

Its a shame tortoise ebay is getting me down but beats a car boot at the mo brrrrrrr.

Tortoise · 05/03/2011 22:25

Baabi I won the Vertbaudet dress Smile. Watching one of your other items that has 3 days left. DO you offer combined postage? If you do can i pay after the other item ends? (Or is that a bit cheeky? Grin)

JarethTheGoblinKing · 05/03/2011 23:14

Hmm... 12 watches, 34 page views and one 99p bid, item ending tomorrow. Bloke who's bidding is local and also wants to pick it up.

Damn bloody ebay, loads of stuff ending tomorrow that should come in at over £150 if it all goes, have a horrible feeling I'm going to make about £20 on it all though

gah!

baabi · 05/03/2011 23:41

Tortoise did not realised it was you who won the dress, just sent the invoice. But if you are interested in something else I do not mind waiting for payment, I will combine postage no problem, I actually prefer it as it saves on wraping lots of bitsSmile. DD caught the ebay bug also, she decided to have a clearance of her toys today so I have another bag full to go through!I should be kept busy for the next few weeks Hmm

Tortoise · 06/03/2011 13:42

Thanks baabi Smile

SNOWBall4girlz · 08/03/2011 10:11

How did everyone get on over the weekend?

I have sold a few bits and bobs some going for the starting price of 99p others a little bit more but it all helps:)

Go some stuff ending today including a pumpkin patch set that really does match but looks two different colours Confused digital pics

here

JarethTheGoblinKing · 08/03/2011 10:57

Not too bad.. there are a few more things ending today (boys clothes mostly) that will hopefully do quite well, and another lot ending Sunday (I think)

Only one unsold item so far, but unfortunately got a lot less for some of the things than I was hoping.. ho hum, that is the way of ebay Grin]

Improvement here - found another mobile phone which made £25, plus various Enid Blyton + Ladybird books so about £40 in all.

Less good is I have to wrap 15 items by tomorrow! One non-payer from last week didn't collect and now says has paid by Paypal for postage. But hasn't. Item should resell though.

SNOWBall4girlz · 08/03/2011 13:09

how did your ladybird / enid blyton books do citrus?

I have a box full I need to list.
Did you do them singly or in groups?

It all adds up {grin]

notcitrus · 08/03/2011 14:25

Blytons I did in groups of the same binding or a whole series, got £5-10 per bunch. Ladybirds singly but when I find the other pile will put a series up. You need the series number on the back for the geeky collectors! As ever, condition counts - all the ones in good nick made 99p - £5. The rest didn't sell - might try them as a job lot as the charity shop won't want them.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 08/03/2011 21:21

So... what's the policy for non-payers then?

Tortoise · 08/03/2011 21:24

Jareth, i always send invoice after the item ends then if no payment within 3 days i re-send the invoice with a note to please pay as soon as possible or contact me if there is a problem. Then if no payment in about 5 days i will contact them and ask for payment. If still no payment/contact i report to Ebay for non-payment.

Packaged up 13 items tonight! I hate the packaging up bit of it!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 08/03/2011 21:38

Sent invoice on the second day, sent a message today saying if I get payment by tomorrow lunchtime I can send it tomorrow PM, otherwise it'll have to wait until next week.. still nothing.

Ho hum.. I'll give it a few more days and see what happens.

thanks :)

I've done 5 things tonight, another 6 tomorrow, and prob another 10 by the weekend.. hurg.

SNOWBall4girlz · 08/03/2011 22:24

Packed and posted 8 items if you fold things right you can get them posted as a large letter.
tortoise I buy the 10 x 15 mailing sacks you can write on them and its just peel and stick :).

Some one paid at 4.00 and I posted it at 4.15 just happened I was going out again might get good feedback lol.

SNOWBall4girlz · 08/03/2011 22:27

Thankyou notcitrus will check the series numbers out on the books think they are mostly odd ones though.

Tortoise · 08/03/2011 22:31

I buy mailing bags too. Probably need to buy a pen that will write on them! That would save me some time. Smile

JarethTheGoblinKing · 08/03/2011 22:48

where do you get the mailing bags from?

I sold a load of kids clothes tonight, single items, and need to send them 2nd class recorded... cheaper if they're large letter I suppose.

Tortoise · 08/03/2011 22:51

I get mine from this seller on Ebay. Really good bags and good price. I buy the pink ones because i think they stand out more and be less likely to get lost! Grin
