Good luck! I'm on day 4 of my first IUI cycle. Took a while to get used to the injections but I'm getting there now.

mabel9 · 01/08/2020 09:15

Good luck @BananaHammock23! The procedure is so quick after so many days of prepping, I wish you all the luck. I’m on a unmedicated cycle but I have to inject on 6dpo.

Anyone else?

I'm on day 7 of the 2WW
ITS A KILLER!
This is my second time round with IUI. It's slightly different to the first time. I don't know what to think. But positive thoughts are getting me through

mabel9 · 04/08/2020 10:19

Hi Tasha, I’m on day 7 too! 1 week to go 🤞 I did my ovridrel injection last night (well my husband did, badly!)
Did you have a medicated iui @Tasha1607? Good luck!

OP posts:
Tasha1607 · 04/08/2020 10:36

@mabel9 Yes I am on medicated IUI. Good luck to you! When date are you doing your test? Hopefully good news for the both of us!

mabel9 · 04/08/2020 11:22

Thank you @Tasha1607 Going to test on the 12th if I don’t get my period before. When will you test? Are you using donor sperm?

OP posts:
Tasha1607 · 04/08/2020 11:26

@mabel9 I test on 11th. And yes we are using donor sperm. Is this your first round of IUI?

mabel9 · 04/08/2020 12:40

Hi, yes first iui due to Male infertility. We were supposed to have iui in April but then lockdown. I’m struggling to feel positive as I keep looking at statistics and it doesn’t look great ☹️ Are you feeling positive?

OP posts:
SapphosRock · 04/08/2020 12:43

If you want some positive stories then it worked first time for us when conceiving DD. If you are under 35 chances are pretty good if you get the timing right.

Good luck, that 2WW is a killer.

mabel9 · 04/08/2020 13:21

Amazing @SapphosRock thank you for the positive story. Did you use donor sperm?

OP posts:
BananaHammock23 · 04/08/2020 13:24

That's so reassuring to hear @SapphosRock - glad it worked out for you!

Good luck @mabel9 @Tasha1607 - hoping you'll get BFP soon. I'm on day 7 of stimulated cycle now and feel like I'm going a bit bonkers! What day did you both have the procedure? I just want it all done now after a few false starts.

BananaHammock23 · 04/08/2020 13:25

Also @mabel9 I feel the same re the chances! It's hard to strike a balance between being positive and realistic!

Tasha1607 · 04/08/2020 13:27

@BananaHammock23 the procedure took place on 27th August for me. Was strange to be doing on my own as my partner isn't allowed into the hospital.

@mabel9 the stats are rubbish. But if you have got the timing right, it only takes one to fertilise the egg. The first time round we classed as a practise run as we didn't know what to expect. We didn't want to put too much pressure on us as well as my body.
This time is much more positive. Mood swings in all.

SapphosRock · 04/08/2020 13:27

Thanks, yes we used donor sperm. Best of luck to everyone trying 🤞

Tasha1607 · 04/08/2020 13:28

@SapphosRock thank you for your positive story!

BananaHammock23 · 04/08/2020 13:34

Sorry @Tasha1607 I meant on what day of your cycle? I'm wondering whether I'll be able to trigger ovulation sooner as I'm on hormones! Otherwise I've got another 10-12 days to wait and I don't think anyone around me can bear my mood swings any longer!

mabel9 · 04/08/2020 13:43

Hi @BananaHammock23 that’s exciting! I had the iui procedure on the 15th day of my cycle, my LH surge was on the 14th day. I had an un medicated cycle.

Hi @Tasha1607 very true and after 1 year of trying (and not knowing my husband had no sperm) we are now giving ourselves the best chance ever!

OP posts:
Tasha1607 · 04/08/2020 14:02

@BananaHammock23 sorry I meant to put the day not the date but got muddled my mistake.
Day 12 I had the procedure. I had 2 eggs ready on the Friday. I have to give myself the trigger shot on the Saturday for the procedure on the Monday. And by then they reckoned I would of had a definite 2 eggs with a possible third.

Tasha1607 · 04/08/2020 14:06

@mabel9 bless you! Well I hope it all works out for you this time. If not you can go again. My partner keeps saying it will happen when it suppose to happen. (Easier said that done!) I think what helped me this time round is I went to see a friend of mine who has got an 18 month old before the procedure. And we just chatted and played with him, made me focus on why I was doing this, and I've got to let my body do the work but mostly importantly, I've got to stay calm and stress free.

Bingobongo1 · 04/08/2020 14:19

I have 3 dc conceived by iui, after 4 years of infertility I conceived first time with dc1 whom is now 16.
The second time it took 5 attempts due to mostly over stimulating however I now have twins too.
Definitely worth it - try keeping busy and not symptom spotting. Good luck.

BananaHammock23 · 04/08/2020 14:25

That's lovely to hear @Bingobongo1!

Just curious, is anyone else paying for it privately? We're in a same-sex relationship so get no NHS funding where we live. It's already up to about £5k with donor sperm and the procedure, so not sure realistically how many times we can keep going. I'm thinking of moving straight to IVF if this doesn't work...

mabel9 · 04/08/2020 14:53

@Tasha1607 that’s a great way of thinking! 😊

Hi @Bingobongo1 amazing, thank you for sharing. Are you in a heterosexual relationship? (If you don’t kind me asking).

@BananaHammock23 I’ve gone private and the costs do add up. I’ve bought 3 vials of sperm (which aren’t cheap!) (which one has already been used) and pay £1200 for each iui!! What does your clinic say? Do you have age on your side?

OP posts:
Bingobongo1 · 04/08/2020 15:08

The clinic I was at suggested 3 trys then convert to ivf however as I'd had successful iui they'd suggested 5 attempts (the twins were my last iui attempt).
