No it isnt allowed.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 20/06/2024 21:52

No.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 20/06/2024 21:52

No you can change them back and tell her you'll take her to a small claims court for the cost if you have to do it again

TheBottomsOfMyTrousersAreRolled · 20/06/2024 21:52

Did she lose her keys?

Towerofsong · 20/06/2024 21:53

Why do you think she has done that?

sprigatito · 20/06/2024 21:54

No, legally she can't deny you access. Have you done anything she could report to the police as abusive? Because that would put a different complexion on the situation.

LittleGreenDragons · 20/06/2024 21:54

If you are married then you aren't sole owner but joint. However she is not allowed to lock you out as you both own the house.

Joke14 · 20/06/2024 21:55

No we have spilt up

OP posts:
BIWI · 20/06/2024 21:56

Why do you think she has done this?

username47985 · 20/06/2024 21:56

No. She can't. Just as you can't do the same to her.
Are there children involved? The route to take will vary if you have children in the house.

Joke14 · 20/06/2024 21:58

I was arrested under false allegation of common assault the bail conditions said I couldn’t speak to her which I didn’t but these conditions so I went to go back my house and the locks were changed.

Two children 6 5

Theunamedcat · 20/06/2024 21:59

Did your bail conditions state you had to stay away from her?

Joke14 · 20/06/2024 22:00

Yes which I did

OP posts:
BIWI · 20/06/2024 22:00

So you were arrested. I think that's pretty good grounds for your partner to want to exclude you from the house. Whether or not that allows changing of the locks is another thing.

You need to stay away from her, then. Which means you can't go near the house. She should really get a restraining order if you can't comply with your bail conditions.

Joke14 · 20/06/2024 22:01

The bail conditions have ended

Joke14 · 20/06/2024 22:02

It was false allegation

I'd be surprised if the predominantly female clientele of MN had any interest at all in helping you intimidate your wife. Try Reddit.

BIWI · 20/06/2024 22:03

What do the police say? (I assume you have reported it to them?)

Joke14 · 20/06/2024 22:06

They said as I am the sole owner I can change them back but I don’t want her telling lies again and getting me arrested. She also saying if I wanna see the kids I’ll have go through a solicitor . I am heartbroken as all I did that Tuesday was come home from work and was arrested for nothing .

If this was the marital home (in which case you are joint owners regardless of who pays the mortgage) and she still lives there with the children, then you know perfectly well that you can't continue living there after what has happened. So what are you playing at? It's hard to see how this is anything other than threatening behaviour.
