Smoking weed

Ok..... I smoke marijuana, never around my kids but when they are in bed. I've been invited to stay at families house before with my 2 children (4 and 5 now) and it's always been a bit of a military operation if I want to smoke on an evening. My family drink and I don't, so whilst they unwind with a few drinks I like to have a smoke. Do you think they would understand this considering I don't drink, one family member used to smoke weed, and they all know why I can't drink. Am I being out of order expecting my 30 something family members will understand.... or do I just keep hiding it with e tea string mints and bad Avon perfume??

Extra strong*

Or you could just not smoke.

If you need it to unwind (to the point where you smoke it in secret rather than just go without for a night or two) you have just as much of a problem as people who 'need' a drink to unwind.

Take up baking

sunshineandrainbowsparkles · 27/07/2017 21:22

You have a problem

Dawnedlightly · 28/07/2017 06:44

Why can't you drink?
If it's because you used to be dependent and quite sensibly are now teetotal, smoking weed is very dangerous for you.

MissBax · 28/07/2017 06:46

Can you really not go a few days without it?

WiganPierre · 28/07/2017 06:47

You have an addiction. Please seek help to give it up.

CosmicPineapple · 28/07/2017 06:53

You know your family OP.
Are they anti drugs?
Have they expressed strong opinions regarding weed?

I like a drink but I am able to go days/weeks without having one if I couldn't I would question my ability to control my alcohol consumption. You can't seem to go a few days without smoking/drinking/eating weed is that not worrying for you? Your relience on it?

fluffypinkdressinggown · 28/07/2017 06:57

What about vaping?

I vape an mj extract that gives the same effect as smoking a joint. It's flavourless and odourless, I mix it with a 0 nic liquid and no one is any the wiser.

PutThatPomBearBack · 28/07/2017 07:15

The irony of you trying to justify smoking weed but putting the Thread in crime Hmm

thefutureisfemale · 28/07/2017 07:30

@putthat Grin

OP wrong forum to try and get some sensible advice on cannabis, MN is great at encouraging you to destroy your liver with Wine and Gin but go all catbum face when it comes to illegal drugs, legal = good, illegal = bad, with no nuance invetween Hmm

RhubardGin · 28/07/2017 07:48

Do you/would you smoke it inside the house?

Weed stinks!

Excuse my naivety but where do you get it from? I've never taken drugs and I always wonder if people that do have some sort of drug dealer yellow pages!

Genuinely curious.

Agoddessonamountaintop · 28/07/2017 07:50

IMHE with local teenagers there's people everywhere selling it - it's rife. I wouldn't know how to go about it either but I guess if your friends are into it you can easily find a supply.

sunshineandrainbowsparkles · 28/07/2017 07:52

No I'd never smoke it inside! I've always been around it and friends from school still smoke it. I've moved around a lot but never had a problem finding someone who sells it, although the quality in this country has gone right down. I'm considering buying it over the internet after watching professor greens documentary the other night.

I would hate someone smoking weed even outside the house - the smell is so strong it gets everywhere. Obviously we can't speak for your family though, no idea what their attitude is like.
The vaping idea is a good one.

sunshineandrainbowsparkles · 28/07/2017 09:29

Thankyou for that witty observation Pom... where do you suggest I put it? I didn't notice an illegal substance topic.

This is bullshit - my DH smokes weed and before I got pregnant I took drugs recreationally. I still think is OP can't go a few days without weed at her family's theirs a problem. DH wouldn't dream of sneaking around for a spliff at his parents, how sad

GuntyMcGee · 28/07/2017 10:28

Believe me, even if you try to cover the smell up with cheap perfume and mints, people will still be able to smell it. Weed is such a pungent scent that everyone within 20 feet of you will know what you've been smoking.

I'm in a similar position.

I don't drink because it makes me sick and gives me migraines. But a joint or two helps with my mental health issues as well as helping me loosen up and unwind.

Only you know how your family would feel. I still keep my habit (🙄) secret.

Ignore the judgypants on this thread. Do what you want ffs

CosmicPineapple · 28/07/2017 10:46

Weed is illegal. Does not matter how wonderful/none addictive/better than booze it is its still illegal.
I do judge people that do things that are against the law....why is that a bad thing?

I have no issue with weed tbh but i would be concerned that a person could not go without it for a few days. Same I would be concerned if somebody could not go a few days without an alcoholic drink.
