i love the English version. The first episode is always a bit manic so will reserve judgement. It’s interesting though the names of two traitors have already been brought up!

Was just about to start a thread!!

There's a lot not even been introduced yet isn't there?

The father/son not knowing was fun. Not too many "characters" thankfully. I tend to end up passionately disliking them and getting annoyed they ate still in 😀

Do you think they'll get rid of the person who chose ex-prison officer's son as most trustworthy or Galway woman?

(I'll learn names about a week before it ends. Promise.)

honeyrider · 01/09/2025 02:10

I enjoyed it, I just knew she'd pick the two men she picked to be traitors. I watched the after show too and Eamon drops the ball tomorrow.

ComeAsYouAreAsAFriend · 01/09/2025 08:14

Thought it was very good. Siobhan is brilliant. Looking forward to the 1st round table none of them seem like the shy reserved type. Siobhan was interviewed about it and said that you would not get a traitors like it anywhere else because it is so Irish, interesting to see what she means as it progresses. Definitely a lot more cursing than the UK version 😂

Misshollys · 01/09/2025 09:49

Loved it last night too and I'm a newbie having never seen the UK version. Thought Siobhan was fab in her role and not one bit surprised age picked a garda and a retired prison officer in her traitors. I was surprised to see both their names mentioned as possible traitors but that could be editing too. Really looking forward to seeing it tonight and tomorrow night and then we have to wait until next Sunday again!

It wouldn't be unusual that someone would pick up on subtle changes in a person which makes them suspect a person has become a traitor.

Usually the person who suspects is a quiter personality, the type that listen (observes) more than they talk. They tend to be ignored (or even targeted) by the louder type of person who thinks they can read people but really are judgmental and latch on to something insignificant and run with it.This is one of the reasons Traitors is so fascinating!!

I would love for a phycologist to be on the uncloaked programme to talk about the behaviours.

Though Siobhán it seems says it's different due to everyone being Irish. Whatever that might mean. We will see tonight!!

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 01/09/2025 13:46

I was very excited about it – love, love, love the Traitors in all its forms. I think SMcS did a great job of making it her own – just a hint of theatre (without the over-egged ridiculousness of Alan Cumming - which I love and love to give out about).

There’s so many of them right now I know hardly anyone’s names – I guess it’s to be expected that the ones that were picked as traitors, and those that will be “murdered” or banished over the next couple of nights are the ones they’ve focused on. I reckon if we haven’t seen anything of you yet then you’re safe for this week 🤣.

The father (Paudie) and son (Andrew?) not knowing each were going to be there was a great twist – I was just imaging if I was on it & saw my sister or someone, I wouldn’t be able to hide my surprise and would definitely look suspicious! Can’t wait for more….

How did I miss that this has started??!! I’ve just finished Love is Blind and that was good.

You can catch up on RTÉ Player @BeefAndHorseradishSandwich - episode 2 tonight.
It's every Sunday/ Monday/ Tuesday after 9o'c News.

Meant to say, I also loved the Irish wolfhounds - beautiful creatures.

I haven’t seen it yet, as was away, but it’s a small country, and no one is that many degrees of separation apart, so I imagine you’d struggle to get away with pretending to be from somewhere you weren’t (like the fake Welshwoman in the UK version), or would have to be very careful about faking a job — chances are someone else knows the place well, or is your cousin’s friend’s boyfriend, or really worked in the Oireachtas canteen or whatever.

TeaHagTeaBag · 01/09/2025 15:12

I enjoy it last night but missed the first couple of minutes. What was the guy doing picking out people before they went into the castle?

Immediately once they got out of the cars they had to nominate the "most trustworthy" (I think), then he had to pick 3 who looked untrustworthy - and out of those 3, send home 2.

Not sure how he got nominated, I think one guy (talks a lot, grey hair, can't remember his name) picked him because he could remember his name & everyone else just went along with it.

I don't like when they things like that, it's very unfair I think.

Ah right, thanks

TartanCulshie · 01/09/2025 15:27

There's also a programe on rte2 at 9pm called traitors uncloaked.

So excited!!!

I love traitors and I'm delighted for the Irish one. I'm not a massive SMcS fan, but quite liked her.

Hopefully it'll be a great series

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 01/09/2025 16:53

Was Uncloaked any good last night, did anyone watch it?

Putting traitors on at 9.30pm and then another programme after that... it's just too late for me (especially on a Sunday!)

But when that has happened in the UK version, those people got parachuted back into the game partway, so it’s not necessarily the end of things.

Fair point, let's hope that happens.

As a PP pointed out, we're a small enough country - so does anyone know anyone on the Traitors? Perhaps your local butcher's niece's best friend's brother? I don't unfortunately.

Yes and that talks a lot, grey haired man is one of the possibly three who might be murdered. Also can't recall his name.

I think it's David or Dave.

True. For some reason I'd thought Siobhán meant behavior wise. As is they'd be more something or less something else. (I'd welcome fewer tears and head grabbing - still not recovered from Wilf's carry on in UK series 1). Maybe everyone talks a lot at the table about everything else other than what they should discuss 😂

It is actually amazing that in the get to know everyone bit there wasn't any "oh you're from [insert town] my cousin Sheila is living there." "Oh yes, she works with me" moments.

I don't know anyone in it. Well don't think i do.. i Struggle with the know by assassination due to my inability to retain names and recognise people if they changed their hair. Maybe all of them are like me and that's why there wasn't any moments like I described above 🤣

Anyone know if it'll be broadcast outside of Ireland?

Here we go the contestants (well, their names and occupation, and not a lot else)

Ah I like to take things at face value... which is why I'd be terrible on the Traitors 😆

Yep, Siobhan was interviewed on the radio this morning and she said they'd no clue the other had even applied. I'm assuming the producers twigged it when going through applicants so made sure both were in it.

Really enjoyed that game today, lovely to see an Irish twist to a game.
