Ohhh I wonder what that can be?
General election?
Speeding up the hate speech bill?
Something regarding euthenesia?

Government is to be dissolved and we will all become a law onto ourselves!

Probably an election or something?

Just read the info article that was linked in @StephanieSuperpowers link & I wonder if Varadker is stepping down?

A ban on heading off on their taxpayer funded jollies until after Easter? 🤔

They've run out of PG Tips

PG Tips? Hearing that they were drinking that would be a political earthquake in itself.

I think it could be Michael D resigning.

A switch to proportional representation?

I live in hope.

But it will probably be an election date.

OH WOW Leo resigning....didn't see that coming

Most put out by the big build up.

It's a political earthquake as will most likely trigger a general election and the biggest change in political representation this country has seen since it was created.

It also begs the question - what is behind it? Is it just because of the referendum or what? Is the reason going to be the earthquake?

Varadkar is gone🥳

Dunno, but this is a frequent occurrence. I was ready for something novel. I'm most put out.

Bye Bye!

Don't let the door hit you on the way out (wouldn't want to damage the door).

Who next I wonder - McEntee would be even more disastrous, and she's ambitious enough and dumb enough to go for it.

Very true. There must be something else behind it, can't be just the referendums.

They're losing 10 TDs, a third of the party. Deep deep doo doo, which they've been ignoring, but the results of the referendums really can't be ignored.

Maybe the FG faithful threatened a vote of no confidence, so he jumped before he was pushed - he hasn't exactly been popular the last few months, and they're now aware of bad polling numbers and an upcoming election. Also the referendum disaster was the final nail in the coffin. With Leo at the helm the voters see more of the same and don't want it.

I see he made sure to still get his US junket in before he scarpered.

I've also heard rumours he's not very popular in the EU, hasn't made many allies and so not sure if he will try and go for a cushy EU job.

And there we have it..
My money is on Simon Covney to take over..
Reckon Leo has a cushy number lined up in Europe or will perhaps go for the European elections instead?

Report
DeanElderberry · 20/03/2024 12:04

The EU is probably wise to him. Maybe some little corner of the UN?

Report
DeanElderberry · 20/03/2024 12:06

It would be hilarious if some of the TDs who have announced their intention to stand down now decided to stand back up.

@DeanElderberry perhaps.. He definitely wouldn't resign without something cushy in lined up..
Love the way he got his trip to the USA on his Paddy's day jollies in first then resigns three days later 🙄

I am glad there was someone ready to go to meet Joe Biden. I wouldn't like us to miss out on that kind of access, extremely valuable to us.

Think Coveney is too rural. Wouldn't be sophisticated or diverse for the Dubs 😁
