Seemingly there's going to be an announcement at noon of the "political earthquake" type.

Kevin Doyle on X: "Told this closely guarded secret will be significant. People being contacted since 6am to coordinate - but for now it’s all being kept within government buildings. Political ‘earthquake': major announcement expected from Government at noon t.co/73Cyp7c9ms" / X (twitter.com)

Hold on to your hats, lads and ladesses!

Aodhán o Riordan no thanks Labour!
The Independents are definitely gaining a lot of ground, will be getting my vote along with Aontú.

I wouldn't go near Aontú tbh. But I am running out of people to vote for tbh.

@DanielGault I thought Peadar O Tóbín was very impressive in the this years referendum debates. Previously I took no notice of them but they held their corner very strongly in both the family & care debates so I'll definitely be giving them something.
Will not be voting Fianna Fáil, Fianna Gael, Sinn Féin, Greens, Labour or Social Democrats.. That leaves me with the Independents & Aontú..

I was impressed by him too. But not by his message. I'm disillusioned 😩

@DanielGault I'm looking forward to getting some canvassers. Gutted I missed a FF one tonight 😂 saw him on my ring door bell but I was out walking the dog... Dying to let rip at the lot of them ☺️

At this point, voting for Aontú may be something I'll be forced to consider. Not something I would have imagined. I don't agree with them on several points, including on abortion. However, I can understand their perspective, even if I don't agree. The trans stuff that the other parties are entwined with I don't agree with and I don't understand. Their is no universe in which I think that there's a sensible reason to base any public or medical policy on the idea that people can be born in the wrong body or change sex.

@StephanieSuperpowers agree. The main political parties are all captured by the trans ideologies & are desperate to push in primary schools.
Aontú & the Independents are very firm on their views regarding trans & also hate speech etc, they don't appear like they'll sell out or change tack anytime soon which is why I trust them. I was in Dublin city centre on Saturday & there was huge pink & blue trans flags everywhere (for trans day of visibility) . It's too much.

I'm hoping there is a decent independent to vote for - I previously voted for Richard Boyd Barrett, but from what I understand he was one of the speakers that pushed for Self ID law in 2015 (which I had no idea about) and is full on TWAW, so it's a no from me.

It's so hard because every major party is entrenched - there's no real opposition.

@HornyHornersPinkyWinky Aontú haven't been captured & most of the Independents are quite conservative which is a good thing as the scales need to be much more in the balance.. There is a new party Independent Ireland that I see campaigning on Twitter but I don't know enough about them to make an informed comment.. They seem quite hardcore & I'm sure they have their own following but I don't know enough..
Michael McDowell was supposed to be part of a new party what happened that?

StephanieSuperpowers · 03/04/2024 16:40

Don't know.

I just want a left wing party that doesn't prioritise the wants of men's imaginations over the needs of women's realities and doesn't try to teach children damaging nonsense. Nothing too complicated. A left wing party that hasn't got misogyny written through it like a stick of rock.

Unfortunately, a lot of our left wing have just that. I was always a union member, and often a branch committee member, but noticed just how family-unfriendly and woman-unfriendly a lot of union culture was. Work life balance was for wimps. Not something available to the union's own secretariat, not taken seriously when representing members. I'd love to think it had changed in the last few decades, but have my doubts.
