Pip waiting times

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how long PIP are taking to make a decision? Just had my assessment there on the 12 of October.

I got mine renewed!!
Enhanced on both as before and no medical this time. So relieved! Many prayers have been said over it

My niece moved to PIP 2 years ago when she turned 16. The letter said she had it till August 2023 but last week my sister had a review pack. I had helped her with the forms last week so popped round yesterday thinking it would be an all day job but it just had questions about how anything had changed and what different help she now got.

it said not to send copies of reports sent previously but there’s not much new to add.
does this mean that they might actually stop the award before August? Or is it unlikely that they will have processed it that quickly?

sister relies on it to do some special activities for my niece but if money potentially is going to stop sooner that expected she might have to alter the frequency and taper it off.
thanks

My sons PIP for was returned end AUG. I had a phone call 20thDec asking further questions. I'm his appointee a letter in Friday saying they had all they needed and today got letter saying his award detail where he scored points

caringcarer · 16/01/2023 23:27

@unicornsarereal72, I had a bit quicker wait. Applied for dear fosterson in early August and got telephone call asking a couple of other questions in November. Then 5 days later got phone call saying what his points were and he did not have an assessment. They said it was paper based because I sent in souch evidence. About a week later he got money in account.

SpaceRaiders · 16/01/2023 23:47

Application went in 7th September. All decided without assessment and I had my first payment by late Nov. I was actually surprised, it may have something to do with my 16 pages of supporting evidence.

unicornsarereal72 · 17/01/2023 07:03

It's good to hear the system is working well for a change. Hope everyone gets the outcome they deserve.

AutumnCrow · 17/01/2023 07:40

It is good to see new claims being processed so sensibly.

The concern is that in order to get new claims shifted in any kind of reasonable time frame, PIP reviews - that the DWP itself demands at ridiculously frequent intervals - are being put on hold and there is a massive backlog. It's proving to be very stressful for claimants, especially those who depend on their PIP paperwork as a 'passport' to other services and benefits.

The whole process is exhausting.

I currently have clients waiting six/ seven months for reviews.

xxAmy · 26/01/2023 11:13

@Momma25 any update on your claim? X

deflatedbirthday · 26/01/2023 13:49

I called DWP this morning for an update. The lady I spoke to was rude and defensive right from the off. I explained that I have other forms to fill in for other purposes and wanted to know if I was likely to receive a decision within the 6-8 weeks quoted. I'm at 7 weeks so if it was only going to be another week I would hold off on the other form (my answer to certain questions will be determined by my PIP decision). She told me no timescales were given by DWP. I explained I have received a text message on the day of my assessment stating I would hear within 8 weeks (in addition to the 6-8 weeks quoted by the assessor). She told me DWP do not send text messages and refused to give me any indication as to how long it would take.

I received a letter in January asking for my ID docs, which I sent straightaway and they have been returned to me. She went on to say I had delayed the claim because they only just received the ID. I explained I received the letter 5 weeks after the assessment and sent the documents the next day.

It all ended with her refusing to provide any further info.

I feel so frustrated and down now. I have already waited 20 weeks from application. I completely appreciate there is a backlog but the lack of update is annoying

Yes hun I’ve been awarded on Monday just gone and received back pay today x I got higher care and nothing for mobility x

xxAmy · 26/01/2023 16:32

@Momma25 fab! That’s good news. Did you get a copy of your report before your award? Mine come today and from report that suggests 13 points care and 10 mobility for 2 year review. Of course I’m happy with that, hoping the decision maker goes with that 🤞🏻

I was late sending mine off so if award is granted I don’t think I will get a back payment

xxAmy · 26/01/2023 16:38

@deflatedbirthday id ring back tomorrow and hope that you get a nicer call handler.
they do send out text messages now!
