Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how long PIP are taking to make a decision? Just had my assessment there on the 12 of October.

I hope the white paper due in march 2023 will make it easier to claim pip while working.

There has been a 70% increase in people applying for PIP recently and the government are desperate to get people back into work so I guess it makes sense but I don't see quite how they can do this without looking at the descriptors because I honestly think that most people able to work are not going to meet the majority of the descriptors unless they are deaf/ visually impaired or have severe mobility problems. Someone I work with has health problems/ mobility issues but still manages to get out of the office doing home visits etc.

@Babyroobs when you see people at work, you're seeing just a fraction of their life. I work but it takes all my energy to do so in any effective way. I suffer from severe chronic daily pain and fatigue. I need assistance to shower sometimes because I know if I do it myself I won't be able to work. I have to work. How do I survive otherwise? If I stopped work and waited for pip I'd have been 20 weeks so far without any pay. Even if I am granted pip it's not enough to live on. I'm between a rock and a hard place. By the time I get home from work I'm too exhausted to enjoy anything. I'm working to exist sometimes. When things are at their worst my weekends are spent sleeping. I don't have a visible condition. That doesn't mean it's not there. Both myself and my work have made adjustments to make things easier for me. I work a 7 minute drive away. I have occupational health support. Equipment to make things more comfortable. Flexible working. I work from home some of the time.

Yes so when you have your assessment it's important to explain how much work drains you and what adjustments have been put in place. Ultimately they only look at the descriptors though, although they should take into consideration whether you can do things reliably, repeatedly and within a reasonable timeframe.

deflatedbirthday · 07/02/2023 19:08

@Babyroobs thats exactly what I did. I repeatedly said how doing x stops me doing y etc. I'll see what the report says

Momma25 · 08/02/2023 10:38

You can claim PIP while working so the push to get people back to work should not be a bar to claiming PIP.

Totally agree that the descriptors need to change to take into account the issues.

Hi, I applied for a PIP review/change of circumstances in Nov. This was due to a new diagnosis and medication, changes in how I now manage/cope.

I had a 3 hour assessment on 02/02/2022. I don’t recall my first being this long, it was exhausting and triggering.

move yet to hear anything yet, but was wondering did anyone have a C.O.C review and how did it go?

My assessment is still with the HP also, is this normal? 16days it's been.

The waiting game is horrendous.

Donnagl · 13/03/2023 11:39

Hi have u had a txt yet I had assement on the 28th Feb

mizuno35 · 15/03/2023 17:33

The way pip assessor does means you will have a hard time to prove working doesnt mean your condition are better. So i dont see today,s white paper is any good news yo combine UC and PIP

xxAmy · 15/03/2023 20:36

@mizuno35 has there been a change to pip and UC? I didn’t quite understand your post sorry x

mizuno35 · 15/03/2023 21:02

They are scrapping WCA in UC, but yo get extra money, u need PIP as passport benefit.

Not for many years yet and knowing DWP timescales it will not run to schedule anyway.

BilsoK · 23/03/2023 07:29

I applied in October 21, no assessment till feb 22. Was refused in June 22, put through a MR, also refused, appealed in July 22, only had not appeal yesterday. I won. 17 months after I applied I’ve finally been awarded. It can be a long road and it’s ridiculous how long they take

BilsoK · 23/03/2023 07:31

This sounds just like me! I have finally been awarded pip at my appeal yesterday. 17 months after applying.

SugarSyrup · 26/03/2023 21:17

^^ this has made me laugh so much.

They've answered themselves
