Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how long PIP are taking to make a decision? Just had my assessment there on the 12 of October.

I applied mid August, had assessment early October. Asked for copy of assessors report. She awarded me 9 points for care and 12 for mobility but still not be given decision by decision maker. I have received 2 texts and 2 letters telling me decision would be made soon. Foster Son application early August moved over from DLA. Sent in lots of specialist reports, EHC plan as he attends special school also a school report stating he struggles to dress himself after PE. He got awarded without assessment just on written specialist evidence. He heard by beginning of October.

Your time frame is around the same as mine, I applied in early August assessed 12th of October, they told me it will take 4 weeks for a decision which is this week coming. I rang there on Thursday and the girl told me it is with a case manager but still no decision but it should be very soon. I didn't even ask for the assessment report but if I get turned down (which I think I will i have no luck) I will be asking to see it.

I sent form in in end of June, was assessed middle of sept, and got my award in early October.

caringcarer · 12/11/2022 09:11

You should ask for copy of assessors report. The one who did mine missed some things I said out completely. I sent in MRI report and letter from my GP. I told assessor I had been waiting on list for appointment for physiotherapy but now had appointment in November. In report she put client has not attempted physiotherapy and no mention that I had been on waiting list but now had appointment. From reading report it looks like I did not try to get appointment for physiotherapy rather than been stuck on bloody waiting list.

Do you know how I can ask for the report to be sent out to me? Would actually like to read it to make sure they wrote done the correct information. The people doing the assessments can be a bit ignorant and scary.

Hi op. I got my decision 4 weeks after my phone assessment. If you ring them you can just ask for a copy of the assessors report. Very handy to have a look over and keep for reference in any subsequent reviews. Best of luck I remember that awful anxious wait very well x

I asked for copy of assessors report and noted a couple of things missing. Only took a week for report to arrive.

Can you not phone and ask where they are at with your claim?

AutumnCrow · 14/11/2022 13:55

Hi OP, I do my adult DSC's PIP stuff and it's so stressful for everybody involved. I wish you all the very best Flowers

Hiya, yes I rang them today and they said it's with a decision maker and hopefully a decision will be made this week, exactly the same as they told me last week when I rang for an update. Its almost not even worth it the waiting about is killing me.

@Janemcconnell18 try not to let it get to you too much. Easier said than done I know.

Expect not get it then if you do it's a nice bonus. If you don't then you won't be so upset about it. Although, some people are wrongfully denied it!

caringcarer · 15/11/2022 17:23

I still have not had my official decision yet. Assessors report recommended I get lower care needs but higher mobility needs. I am desperate to be able to get blue badge to park closer to things.

Hopefully it won't be too much longer for your decision aswell 🤞 all we can do now is wait and hope for a good outcome

I need to claim PIP but put off as heard a large majority of claims get turned down & end up going to mandatory considerations then tribunals. Good on you if you managed to get it.

Bvbvbv · 16/11/2022 11:32

@Janemcconnell18 no I had that text next day when they received assessment report and today I got txt saying (We have not yet made a decision on your PIP claim. We will write to you when we have made a decision. You only need to contact us if your circumstances change. This... did u hear anything bk x

How long has it been now for you since they received your written report? Nothing yet for me it's been 4 weeks today from they got my assessment report and 5 weeks since I did the actual assessment. I rang up on Monday for an update they said it's with the decision maker atm but no decision has been made and that hopefully it will be this week x
